  1. Should be a great 1st round game. East Lit can be tough but I'll have to go with the Owls with their great Defense to make the difference in this game. SC can also be hard to handle in the Hole so give them the home "Hole" advantage also. I'd be there also but got somewhere to be since the MC Tigers made the playoffs. Good luck Owls and Owl fans from your friends to the north.
  2. This was an exciting game. Westy came out and smacked the Tigers in the chops for the majority of the first half. They certainly came to play. The Tigers benefitted from an interception to turn the game around a little. They played much better in the second half. Great job by both teams and a display of some good sportsmanship on both sides with taps of respect on the helmet from several players. Classy both teams.
  3. That's why we play the games people. Sure Lipscomb is the favorite and they should be, but anyone can win on any given night. Just ask David Lipscomb themselves about losing to a 5-5 Livingston Academy who walked away with the gold ball. That's the beauty of high school football. Macon has played everyone tough except for White House regardless of what the scores say. Goodpasture is a common foe of both and that game was 27-27 at the half. I think it will be a good game if Macon plays good defense and limits turnovers. But I would still give Lipscomb the nod of being the favorite with Playoff experience and they are at home. Good luck to both teams.
  4. Here's another Jlwlln I saved a few years back, can't remember exactly where I got it. Some of you may recognize it... I'll never get to put the pads on again; next year will be my first year not playing. I guess I'm a has been or never was. But isn’t it a beautiful process. 4 years of ball made high school fun. Now all I have are the memories the bad shoulders and the scars. It was worth every moment of it. I’m gonna miss the 3 a days, the clank, clank sound of the weight room, the hot practices, the lights, the smells, the sounds, the blood, the sweat, the smell of fresh cut grass. Its the little things I'm gonna miss like waking up on Saturday morning so sore you can't mow the grass but having that ohh so sweet feeling of ending that losing streak, The game days when you can't concentrate on your school work or your girlfriend cause all you can think about is whether that backer is gonna blitz that night or not. its the pre game meals your too nervous to eat, its walkin' outta that locker room and looking at the practice field and knowing that’s where games are really won. It's the 5'8 130lb dt beating the 6'6 300lb college prospect ot because the dt has a little more fire that night, Its that bad calls, the good calls, The homecoming queens, the hopes and dreams of goin' 15-0. It's the freshman that get to come into the games that get knocked down but never quit, Its the 4 hour away trips and how they always seem short after a win. It's that equipment you don't wash until the last practice of the season cause it's bad luck, Its looking up in the stands and knowing even though your having a bad year and crowd numbers are slim that mamaw's still up there yelling loud as ever, its the beast thing that God has ever created and so the process goes on don’t ever forget them Friday night lights boys. To all seniors who will never get to pop the pads again remember stay low, and block till the whistle blows.
  5. Thanks Termie for the info...and the truth shall set me free!
  6. I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but doesn't it seem that muffin is anti-Macon?
  7. I agree with you to a point here 11manfront. Throwing the ball is important for the team. We do have a capable QB and receivers as you mentioned and they are weapons. But I believe the run game is key to the success of a pass game. Our run game is very effective, making play action, especially on early downs even more effective. But I believe Coach P maybe trying to cut down on turnovers (example: no pass play called on 3rd and 23), which we have had more than our share of both fumbles and interceptions this season.
  8. Hopefully we can accomodate your valued request SEVEN. Not only to level our season at 5-5 but to help out our purple and gold friends (except for 1 game of the season) to the south.
  9. Certainly this coaching staff can thank the past MC staff's for their efforts to get the team stronger and faster for this season, no doubt. However, Mark Pemberton is the coach now, a proven winner with a state championship coming out of a region I believe to be one of, if not the toughest in the state. Let's get behind him and move this program forward. I can tell a diffence in this team on the field also, and it's not all just muscles, it's also mentality.
  10. Hoping that the White House game was an anomoly(?), I'd say this will be a pretty good game. It's really hard to predict what the Tigers will do after last week. Hopefully, the team can learn from that loss and not let it affect the two remaining games. It's the Tigers' turn to answer the bell. Let's concentrate on the game at hand, get amped for the Cats, and play a strong 4 quarters of football. Win or lose we can work on our game mentality of what it takes to play well each and every game; consistency, competiveness, and fortitude for next season and seasons to come.
  11. A great game by the Devils. White House dominated the line of scrimage and every other facet of the game. They showed their desire and motivation to get the road win and give themselves a chance at being in the playoff picture. An excellent job by the band at halftime also. They were very entertaining. I'm not sure who the team in the blue jerseys were. I haven't seen them this year. Just didn't seem to have any spark to their spirit to win the game. I'll give the BDP the credit. I think it shows the difference in the programs at this point. Macon is still learning how to win, White House has been successful for a quite a while now and know the importance of a critical game and what it takes to accomplish getting that win. Learn from this one Tigers.
  12. BDP you can probably get an idea of the game from the SC vs MC thread. That game was the first time that I had a chance to see SC play so I can't tell you how much of it was SC not playing up to par or how much MC kept them off balance. But most comments that I read was MC just outplayed SC. The defense showed up in that game for the 1st time this season and no one has really stopped MC's offense this year consistantly. It's usually been multiple turnover games (3+) that ends our chances of winning and leaving the Defense on the field too much. Trousdale County is probably the only team that made us punt more than a couple times and that was mostly in the 1st half. Most of the turnovers came on long drives. We've had a chance to win all our games, but the turnover bug just shows up. When they hang on to the ball they can play with anyone (ex. Goodpasture 27 - Macon Co 27 at the half). This should be a fantastic game as I've already stated in a previous post. If the Tigers play well they'll have a chance to win, I expect White House to be ready to play also. We'll see Friday.
  13. The Owls win here. I gotta think that SC feels like they've answered the bell since the Macon loss and have taken the team another step forward in development with a great road victory over White House. The Defense looked outstanding. SC 38 CC 7
  14. Right Geo, crucial game for both teams for any chance at making the playoffs. Both teams should be up and motivated ready to play. The team with the fewest mistakes, I believe wins this contest. White House coming off a tough loss to Smith County, the Tigers with a big win over Dekalb County. I'll give a slight edge to Macon because it's at home. Should be a great one to watch. Macon County 21 White House 20
  15. Great win Owls. Way to rebound and get it back on track. Keep it going the rest of the way.
  16. I agree with some of this Cat2, but you can't deny the support of the Tiger fans. 26-6 at the end of the game and all from Macon folks were still in their seats. (Great support Tiger fans) Macon doesn't lead in the game but the turnovers were the story of the game. Take nothing away from the Cat victory and their performance, but from a blue and white perspective, we feel we gave the ball away rather than it being taken away. I say this because except for the first drive turnover on third down, Macon was not stopped by the Cat defense... No 3 and outs, no punts. Turnovers came after long drives in the red zone as you stated. The Tiger defense was not as sharp as they were against the Owls, but I'll credit this to the Bobcat offense which I thought played a very good game. They were sharp and executed well. This was my first time at the Cats home. Great field, good seating right on top of the action, and a good PA announcer made a great evening of football. Again take nothing away from the Bobcat performance but without turnovers this game is in overtime. Also the Refs should have their Certifications revoked and be made to do community service for at least 6 months. I don't hold this against the Cat fans, just the ref's performace was hideous. I would rank it in my top 5 worst called games right behind the '72 Nashville North game and last year's Trousdale County/Mayfield game. Good luck the rest of the way Cats, hopefully we can regroup, and finish strong the rest of the season.
  17. This Tiger team is a little different than those of the past few years. Coach P has got these guys believing and playing his system. They are learning how to win games. The Smith County game was the first complete game for this team where the Defense played as well as the Offense and turned it on for a full 4 quarters. Good luck Tigers. Stay focused and take it one game at a time.
  18. SC bounces back refocused and energized... Smith Co 34 Upperman 6
  19. Another tough game that should be a blast to watch. If MC can continue their improvement and hard work as has shown all season, hopefully we can get another W. Let's keep the momentum going Tigers! Macon 21 Greenbrier 17
  20. Ground game mainly Titanfan99. I thought SC did a pretty good job against the pass for the most part. The Tiger ground game was very effective after the first few possessions. The backs broke a few long runs 21, 29, 44 and the line blocked good. The Defense was the story for me. The best defensive performance I've seen yet by the Tigers. They needed that to pull off this win. Tigers...great win!!! enjoy it now and lets get back to business this week because we got another tough game (again and again...we do have a challenging schedule this year) this week. I agree with Termite, Glover and other Owl fans that sometimes it takes a loss like this along the way to get a team to remain focused on the big picture. I believe Smith County will respond well to this loss, get refocused this week and will be a handful in their next game (White House?). Good luck to the Owls the rest of the way.
  21. That's right Grunt. I was on the Fulton side and they seemed quite confident at the start of that game. Stunned by the 4th quarter that they were in such a fight for survival and trailing.
  22. And if I remember correctly, the Jackets gave Fulton all they could handle in this game down on the creekbank...eventually losing on a 2 point conversion at the end of the game(?)
  23. This should be a very good game. Smith County's defense against a pretty good Macon County offense. Macon County at home. But I'll have to give the edge to Smith County because of that defense. If Macon can tighten the reins and play good defense as well this could be a barn burner. Smith County 17 Macon County 14
