  1. This is just my opinion and that like rumps can be claimed by anyone, some stink. MOOSE will lead the BLUE CREW back into greatness!! If he's left alone and allowed to teach these kids real football. If he's allowed to form them into the young men they MUST be to win. Moose wanted to return to Gordonsville and rebuild what had once been a wonderful program. No one can expect this miracle to happen over night, the kids and their parents have to see that Moose is there for the GOOD of them, because this man, Ronald Marshall loves football, and even more has loved Gordonsville Football for a long time. As for the Gordonsville-Carthage game, what about it? it makes money for BOTH schools, you see lots of people you haven't seen. It's a fun night for most of us. So shush up about it !! So if you dont have anything better to do on Friday nights why not come see what it's all about?? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> I'll be there!! And the Jr High games too .. can't forget them, they're the future of Gordonsville High Football !!
  2. I drove thru Carthage earlier tonight and the crowd was huge, even with the rain. Marion County was well represented too. Hope both teams play with grace and pride, not to mention injury free. Good luck guys !!! I'll be checking the score on the radio.
  3. I must say, this is one of the more fun threads going, funny reading. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> My apologies to Marion County fans, but you are just too easy to provoke and these SC jokers are pro's at it. They mastered the taunt and tease back in grade school. /bored.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bored:" border="0" alt="bored.gif" /> /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" /> Might as well park on the square and walk, it'll be easier to get out of town after the game I'd think. The field isn't at all hard to find .. just follow the glow.
  4. May the good Lord hold this family in HIS loving arms and comfort and guide them thru the darkness. May everyone realize that life is short and precious, live it with care ..
  5. Jackson County would be a great starting place for an eager young full o' peas and vinegar up and coming coach, but only if he has thick skin and a spine of steel. I personally would love to see football once again come to life on the riverbank. For too many years all eyes have been on girls basketball and of course, JCHS has been dadgum good .. but the young men there have as much potential to fire it up on a football field too given some good leadership and a coach that stays more than two or three years. It takes time and patience to rebuild a program that has wasted away like JCHS football. Back in the early to middle 70s JCHS, playing football in the Tri-Lakes Conference did pretty good, even a bowl game or two. There were players that actually played all four years of high school back then, and loved each moment of it. Good luck to the new coach .. I hope the kids, the school and most of all the parents are behind you !!! one more time .. Go Big Blue !!!
  6. Bumpin cuz I can .. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  7. Take care of the tick tick ticker, football will always be around, just do what the doc says so you will be too, after care is everything. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> oh and as always, Go Blue!
  8. Well said MO$$$$$$$ ... Moose will bring out the best in our team if he's given the chance, no one loves G-ville Football more than Moose, not even the "big MM" as I've stated in previous post, MM did the team a favor when he made that call. Dillard was leaving regardless, so why not do the most logical thing and bring home the MOOSE?? As far as the fan base following G-ville, it's always been big, will continue to be big .. so everyone may as well get ready and fire up the grill, they come hungry too. I've seen the Clay County field, it's nice. Wish they'd work on the field the JR high plays on, especially the visitors bleachers, can't see for the players and believe me, the crowd comes to watch. G-ville played Celina on Celina's 8th grade night and still have more fans there. and once more ... GO TIGERS!!
  9. Boys, Boys, Boys, dont you know teams come and go but HOGEYE /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" /> will always be alive!! No, I'm not from the great OC but I've been around long enough to know all programs go thru periods of rebuilding, reloading whatever. Sometimes it just takes a kick start instead of turning a key. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Hard work and determination will surely lead LA back to the Goryland, oops .. I meant GLORYLAND .. Halloween is on my mind /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  10. Whatever happens and whoever wins, I hope Gordonsville Tigers reallize how proud everyone is of them for not backing down when things got tough. They are playing TRUE GORDONSVILLE TIGER FOOTBALL. Now after reading the thread about great entrances, makes me wish ours was little more exciting. Picture it, Mr Medley leading the team down Main Street up to the school on his motorcycle (wife's Christmas present to him a few years ago, guess who upped the life insurance?) /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" /> , nah too much like Dyersburg and we dont want to be copycats. Maybe another lights out on the field ?? LOL .. It's not how you enter the field, it's what you've got in your heart on the field, sheer will and determination will carry you. Go Tigers .. G-ville 24- W-town 21
  11. More like projecting positive!! There's always hope til the last seconds tick off .. Go Blue!! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  12. Only 18 players? Now that's playing some real football .. Way to Go .. I remember well the teams from the late 70s .. not to shabby then either .. quite a history Lake County has .. thanks for pointing this team out !!
  13. Well now dadgum, aren't you the deep thinking stuff stirring Pirate these days !! Thought provoking to say the least. Team .. a group of individuals working together towards a common goal. Team building skills are taught not bought or picked up hanging on the fence. This should start at the top with coaches, umbrella out to include support staff at the schools. Also including parents. Everyone could use a few team building exercises, maybe even make it a requirement if your child plays sports of any kind in a school system. By the way, I can hook anyone up with the above mentioned team building skills .. I have a barn to clean out !! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> !! Oh, and without trust, how can there be a team?
  14. Thanks a million OP for starting this, I hope some "well-meaning" multi-posting parents take time to read this and have their eyes opened. Many a kid's sports career have been cut short or made miserable by such parents. I've witnessed it. As a single mother I hoped my son's coach's would be a good role model and wasn't displeased at all, but that was years ago. Hopefully the same can be said for todays coaches at all levels. As for parents who want their kids playing regardless, a life lived thru your child doesn't do a thing for either of you but bring on misery. Oh, and might I add .. Go Tigers !!!
  15. According the the amazing articles in this week's Carthage Courier there were thirty two eighth grade players and twenty seventh graders. You can access this online at the Carthage Courier online site. Go Tigers !!!! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  16. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> just when I thought this thread had broken, Mr Posty comes in !!!! The SC faithful has been surprisingly quiet today.
  17. You're right again Croz, just because she's a girl doesn't mean she isn't a potential threat in any game. She can take a hit just like the guys I'm betting, or least be prepared to. Personally I never cared for girls playing on boys teams, some boys find it hard to look past the girl and see a player and maybe take it too easy on them. That absolutely should not be the case. Girls on a football field come ready to play and prove their point. If the Tigers want it bad enough they can head to head with FC most of the night. The want to has to be there. Good seeing Coach Marshall in Jamestown Saturday ... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Tigers 16 FC 14 Go Tigers !! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  18. So Croz, your wife has been your wife long enough to know how it goes, football Friday nights aren't a good time for much of anything around here. But hope the lil man had a splendid night just the same. Another Tiger in training no doubt !!!!!
  19. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Jr High Tigers 28 Hartsville 8 gotta love those kids in blue /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  20. We're all allowed opinions .. until shown otherwise, I'll stand by mine !!
  21. Go HOG EYE .. git'em /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  22. While Coach Marshall and his boys haven't had exactly the kind of season a team wants, it's not been all bad. I hope the players have learned that if they want to win games, Coach Marshall is the man that can get them there. A player told me over the weekend that he was in the BEST shape he's EVER been in and had lost 60 pounds this year, he's by no means a small fella even now. They practice regardless the weather, they're toughening up, becoming a real team. From what I understand Coach is slowly getting to know the Jr High team as well. Great prospects there for him, not only physically but mentally. Football is not just a game, it's a teaching tool as well, sportsmanship, being part of a group of individuals working towards a common goal(also known as being a team) and to try their hardest. Not all coaches can get these ideals across, but the good ones can and do. Mark Medley did Gordonsville High School a huge favor when Ron "Moose" Marshall was brought home. Thank you Mr. Medley!! Oh, and .. it's gonna be TIGERS 18 .. wildcats 10 .. GO BLLUE!!!!! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> Good Luck to the Jr High Tigers tonight against Hartsville !! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  23. /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" /> The Jr High Tigers travel to Clay County tonight, you going Croz? I see you at all the home games. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Good looking bunch of players I must say, hope this is a sign of things to come !!! Go Tigers!! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
