  1. Who let you Franklin people off the leash and out of the mental word? I agree with the sentiment of "ibhiii" if Franklin couldn't beat Brentwood with Ford, Lee, and Dye, how do you expect to beat the Bruins with just Dye? Especially running behind an offensive line that looks more like a bad game of musical chairs than a unit deserving to be mentioned as a State contender. Brentwood has been able to score on the stout defenses of Oakland & Smryna, with Franklin's pre-season showing against a similar Smyrna Bulldogs team, what is giving birth to the idea that Franklin will stop the Brentwood Bruins? I'll make a prediction of my own, Franklin's three down line-man will get man-handled by the big men from Brentwood. It may be a different Defensive scheme and coordinator but it will still prodice the same affect... Brentwood will beat Franklin up front and run through them.
  2. Allowed the fewest points?!?! If that is the great sticking point of the Franklin Defense, would somebody please point out a legit-playoff-contending team? BGA- The bottom feeding Division II school Hopkisville- TN is undefeated against KY this year Centennial- Its Centennial (2-4)... Ooltewah- (2-3) That is something to be proud about. Hillsboro- (2-4) Fern Creek- TN 26 - KY 0 What so far this year has warranted this bravado? Who brags & boasts about beating "2-win" teams? Keep stroking the kids egos and feed the monster, keep telling them that "big-plays" dont truly count, and "losses" are simply just flukes to be blamed on injuries. Franklin will lose to Ravenwood (and you all will call it a fluke) Franklin will lose to Brentwood (and you all will call it a fluke) Riddle-me-this Franklin--- Are consistent "1-point" losses a "fluke" or a sign of a "apparent lack of character"?
  3. Franklin is the worst 5-1 team in the nation! Who has Franklin beat that warrants this sense of entitlement? I see a team who lost to BGA and almost made history against Centennial. Any defense that allows 21 points to CHS is not a defense I'm willing to stand behind. This "WE ARE FRANKLIN" mentality is a cancer and it will be the reason Franklin will once again be 2nd in the district. Not only does Ravenwood make it close... They will beat Franklin. Franklin will finish the season 7-3, and loose in the first round of the play-offs maybe that will be the wake-up call the "jrpfhs21" and "fbforme" of this world need.
  4. I smell a dirty RAT! Obviously you are a jealous parent who has no insight as to what a TEAM these guys really are. If you knew anything about them, you would know there is senior leadership. You are a peon who has to hide behind a screen name. Get a backbone! According to the Tennessean, the stats show that Ford had 6 carries for a gain of 68 yards. Get off his back! Dye went 3-4, Lee 10-27, and Miller1-6. For the receivers, Dye was 1-6, Ford 2-16, Gentry 1-11, Lee 2-6, Nelson 2-28, and Young 1-9. The Rebels have 2 wins behind them and they will show up Friday night against the Cougars. Good luck to Franklin! According to your stats, Franklin's play selection is about 2/1 (in favor of the running game) but this doesn't even account for attempted passes. Even if the QB is completing 50% of his passes (week 0 he was about 2-9, so that is probably not the case. Then Franklin's play selection is about 50/ 50 (under the assumption that #11 has a 50% completion rate. That is a heavy load on a sophmore, 50/ 50 with the best RBs in the back field. explain that to me.
  5. Exactly, no 15-year-old sophmore is going to be "Graham Nichols" (his Senior year). especially in his first year as a starter. And if anything, he should not be compared to the previous #9. Because there is no telling where he may be in three years. But he does have an amazing back-field to fall back on. Franklin will win games, but they will win games with the ball in the hands of #4, #5, and, #2. Oh, and I have heard about this legendary J Smith from Ootlewah, and I am personally very interested to see him line up against Isaish A.
  6. Hunters Lane showed us at least one thing, we have QB issues my friend. This new kid may be young but he seems scared and lost (what is his name?)
  7. I would not be overly worried about the defensive side of the ball, because I have faith in any defense that is run and organized by Coach Webb. Filling holes and playing a lot of new players has been nothing new to this defense over the past few years. Coach Webb and his defensive crew will assemble a unit that is able to stop and slow down any offense it has to once August rolls around. This re-building/ re-modeling phase that happens every spring is what Coach Webb really enjoys. Besides this year's defense will return starters Timmy Wilson (DT/ DE), Michael Constantine (LB), Hunter S. Nall (DB), basically Franklin is returning one difference-making starter in each level of its overall defensive unit. Hopefully these three provide the core and experience to build a typical "Spider-webb-defense" around.
  8. Obviously everyone knows that Franklin is returning the RB duo of Alex Ford & Keylo Ford, but everyone also knows that Franklin has had to say goodbye to a handful of contributing seniors from last year. I will not list every open position from last year, but as of right Franklin is in the middle of Spring Practice, and the coaches are looking for some fresh young talent to step-up and fill these shoes/ shoulder-pads. But a long hot summer full of running and lifting weights can make life-altering differences. So as of right now, there are still alot of question-marks floating around Franklin football. But then again these questions are nothing new to seasoned coaches... these are the tasks that face every program this time of year, answering these questions is what separates the great football programs. Concerning the schedule in question, Franklin is playing a scary gauntlet of competitive teams. Besides the typical region opponents of Ravenwood, Brentwood, Independence, & Centennial. Franklin has added Ootlewah & Hillsboro. The remaining games are composed of threatening teams across the state(s) of Tennessee/ Alabama/ Kentucky.
  9. First and foremost I would like to extend a "Thank You" and a "We are so proud of you" to all the players and coaches that made this past year's accomplishments possible. The Rebles made a far-fetched dream become reality this past year, and nobody can take that away. But what happens now?... That is a question that must be asked. Will Franklin find a way to avoid the "post-state-slump-year" that numerous teams tend to encounter after a highly successful year. Why do teams stumble and fall after a state runner-up or state championship title (i.e. Independence & Ravenwood)? How does Franklin rebuild and reload for next year, After losing the following key players: #9 QB Graham Nichols #67 C Mark Jackson #65 LG Andrew Combos #53 RG Alex Edrenkin #66 LT Connor Walkup #45 TE Stephen Mauer #1 WR Jarriel Eaton #57 John Jervis #41 Hunter Howard #40 Cole Nathan #48 Nick Gordon #22 Jonny Jones #15 Ramsey Sellars #8 Jamual Starnes #24 & 27 The Zegal Brothers (Joseph & Daniel) It may sound grim, but it is the truth. Franklin is only returing 3-4 of the offensive starters. Meanwhile on the defensive side of the ball, The entire linebacking corps and secondary is graduating with the class of 2009, and only one starter is returing on the defensive line. I know that Franklin is bright and optimistic about the return of Alex Ford, Keylo Lee and the immergence of young new-comer Shawn Dye, but at the same time with only one Offensive Lineman returing FHS must ask "will the holes and running lanes be open like they were last year?" Without Graham Nichols as a decent passing threat will opposing teams be able to stack the defensive front and in-turn nuetralize the running game of Franklin? On Defense who replaces the big shoes of this past year's team? Who are the potentail kids who will step up and deliver the punch worthy of wearing numbers like 57, 48, 15, 40? What young sophmore is willing to devore the time and effort that it takes to command the defensive packages of Franklin Football like Joseph Zegal did this past year? How does Franklin's upcoming schedule and region further affect this omnious changes? All of these questions marks are more than worthy of floating around the coaches and players heads at Franklin. The answers to these questions may be answered next fall, but the words and sentances that must be formed to answer these questions must begin to assemble NOW. CAN/ WILL THE 09-10 REBELS CONTINUE TO BELIEVE
  10. How long does it take for IHS to turn this around? By "turn this around" I mean "return to the playoffs" I do not think it is going to be anytime soon. Has anybody at INDY looked at the new classifications? Does anybody at INDY understand the new classifications? Brentwood Franklin Overton Hillsboro Ravenwood Independence Best two all-around records move onto the playoffs (there is no longer a "region-record") How long will it take IHS to launch itself to the front of that region? I do not know about everyone else...but I think that "INDY's Future" is scary (at best)
  11. Every year brings unexpected surprises, and if someone told me that Independence would be a 3-win team at the end of the season (I would have laughed out loud). I knew that this year would be a year of change for Independence on-the-field and off-the-field. Apparently Independence lost a lot of starters and leaders, and would be looking to rebound and rebuild...but still 3-WINS!!! But at the same time I knew that Independence would be going through a lot of changes as a school and athletic program. Todd Campell became the Principal (and if you do not already know...he is an athletic program's dream), and He brought along with him Kurt Jones to fill the empty Athletic Director position. Even though Independence may have been lacking on-the-field talent, they gained the tools to begin constructing a "solid program" (as Kingz615 so subtly put it). But I must say that I was still shocked beyond imagination over what Independence did on-the-field (or did not accomplish). But it was Independence's offensive theory this year that astounded me. Everyone has accused Independence of being "one-sided", and those have been accurate accusations. But the lack of a running game is the result of two things (1) no manageable running-back (2) no Offensive lineman. If you are going to play football against Coach Webb, Crawford, and Rector's defenses, and you can only hope to throw the ball around (without a Offensice line proficient in blocking) then those defenses will drop 7 into coverage, and apply intense pressure with the front 4. In this region if you allow that to happen, those teams will chew you up and spit you out. This is an all too familiar image for Independence this year. And to be honest, I expected more from IHS's coaching staff, and I thought that the infusion of Coach Jones would have been more effective. For those of you who know coach Jones, you know he stresses a successful ground game, which will in turn set up the "play-action-pass". He believes in this system because it wins games, it takes the pressure off a developing QB, saves the QB from taking a ton of hits. but this entire philosophy has been absent (even in the most diluted form) I do not know about the rest of IHS, but I know that 3-wins is not Coach Jones Idea of success, and I know that 3-wins is not at all satisfactory for Todd Campell. And sooner rather than later, they will begin to make-moves to construct a "solid program" that will win more than 3 games a year...Things are changing, or at least about to change
