  1. Big win for Union City tonight over Dresden. Lake County Lady Falcons went to Fulton City and Coach Johnson only played his starters for less than four minutes. All Lady Falcons played in the first quarter and the young girls played the last three quarters. Score at the end of the first was 24-0. I think the final was around 58-17 or something with the young girls getting some major playing time. They were tired when it was over. Trenton comes to LC on Monday night as the Lady Falcons begin their run in the 14A tourney.
  2. Big wins for UC tonight in both games. Neither game was close.
  3. Carnation Hart at Lake County may not be the best true post player, but she is probably the toughest. Not much height but will make those true posts look stupid. Will swat your stuff and then take the rebound and blow by you to the other basket. Runs like a jackrabbit and is as strong as any single a player in the state. Signed with Bethel and is part of the dynamic duo of Hart and Flowers that have given the Lady Falcons that number one ranking.
  4. UCT I saw Dresden play for the first time last night. The girls shot lights out against Greenfield. #34 was 5 of 5 from three point range and I'm guessing she had about 26 or 28 points. They were very methodical and well coached. Nothing flashy just point and shoot. I know they gave UC fits earlier in the season, but I think UC could play with them and possibly beat them if UC shoots well and cuts down on their turnovers. I think UC's boys should run Dresden out of the gym unless last night was just a really off game for Dresden. They looked really slow and Greenfield took advantage of that to get the win. Dresden's boys must be doing something right though with their record so maybe it was an off night. Just didn't strike me as a team that could play with Lake Co. Humboldt or Union City with their speed. Should be a good measuring stick between the two districts on Thursday night in UC.
  5. Bob77 I agree it will all be settled in the boro in March. I'm not saying Jackson County or anyone else is not the best team in Single A, just think its crazy to post they are the best team in the state based on scores. There are a handful of elite teams in Single A this year. All of them have impressive wins by large margins. As a Lake Co. fan I have not been on here saying they are better than Jackson County or anyone else I haven't seen play for that matter. Jackson County played a tough schedule and has done very well even in its losses. Lake County has also played some really good teams and beaten some much larger schools with good basketball programs. The good thing is we only have a few weeks before we find out who the best team is. I look forward to seeing the East Tennessee teams that we have heard about this year play. It should be fun.
  6. That's a pretty bold statement about Jackson County if you are going on scores alone. Lake County hasn't come close to losing to a A school and the scores are impressive. I haven't seen Jackson County play so I can't address their team but Lake County has been ranked #1 in every poll this year and by some who have seen both teams play. Time will tell but just have a problem with the statement they are the best team in the state.....I think alot of people would have a problem with that statement.
  7. Lake County Lady Falcon seniors had a big night against Middleton. TeTe Flowers scored 26 points and Carnation Hart added 18. TeTe is closing in on the 2000 point mark most likely during the district tourney.
  8. I agree Bigster it was kinda going through the motions on the defensive side of the ball although I did think Tiana stepped up her defensive effort. Look forward to seeing how they react tonight! Go Falcons
  9. Wardawg I thought they looked a little sluggish but still managed to pull away from Trenton. Had a very emotional week upsetting Jackson Southside and then that celebration win against Union City on Tuesday, and then maybe looking forward to Middleton a little bit tonight. But they managed to keep it together like a good team does and just get this one behind them. I have faith they will put together a bigtime effort tomorrow night against Middleton! Just hope we have a huge crowd to send these seniors into the playoffs in style...if any senior class deserves the home crowd to come out and appreciate them it is these senior Lady Falcons and Falcons. I will be there with my family.
  10. Lake County Lady Falcons finish undefeated in district play with a blowout win at Trenton tonight. 79-41 with all Lady Falcons playing. Tiana Gray lit it up from three point range going 6 of 10 and finished with 29 points. Carnation Hart added 18 and TeTe Flowers played very limited minutes not feeling well but still finished with 11 points. Thought our young girls played very well actually outscoring the Trenton starters by a couple of points. All of these games where our freshmen are playing whole quarters should pay off next year. Big game against Middleton in LC tomorrow night. Hoping for a big crowd for TeTe, Carnation, Lashasta, and Brooke as they play their last regular season home game as Lady Falcons....man have they been fun to watch!
  11. This one was over early and UC never got anything going. Big night for Lake County basketball getting two blowout wins over our rival. Raphael Tyler went over the 2000 point mark early in the first, adding to the celebration. LC needs to keep the momentum they are riding now and take it into Trenton on Friday. Seems like these boys have really pulled it together of late!
  12. Lake County Lady Falcons put all doubt to rest tonight....YES THEY ARE IN CHAMPIONSHIP FORM! Beat Union City 71-38 and emptied the bench as all Lady Falcons played the 4th quarter. Te Te Flowers had 19 in a showdown with Amber Fair leaving no doubt she is the best player in 14A if not single A basketball in the state. Lady Falcons shot the 3ball extremely well hitting six in the 3rd quarter alone. Carnation Hart was a beast in the first half with about 14 points I believe. Always a good night when we beat our rivals but was especially fun for these seniors. Lady Falcons play at Trenton on Friday night before facing Middleton on Saturday.
  13. Huge win for the Lake County Falcons tonight as they avenged their biggest loss of the season by beating Jackson Southside 69-61. The Falcons dominated the second half, a complete turnaround from the game in Jackson. Coach Barger did an outstanding job and picked up one of those wins that could send you with momentum into the playoffs. Great win over a AA top five team!
  14. Another big win for the Lady Falcons as they beat Jackson Southside 61-19. Lake County jumped out to a 28-2 lead and never looked back. Coach Johnson pulled his starters after the first quarter and the second and third string Lady Falcons did the rest of the damage. The Lady Falcon defense is absolutely smothering teams right now. Not sure how many steals Tiana Gray had tonight but it was easily in double digits in the first half alone. Only negative thing about the whole game was T.T. Flowers only gets credit for 8 points because she only played the first quarter.....hope that doesn't hurt her bid for Miss Basketball as she could have had 50 tonight. Lady Falcons have warmed up for the big rivalry game as Union City comes to Tiptonville on Tuesday night. On a side note, T.T. can add Homecoming Queen to her resume as she won that title tonight. Congrats TT Flowers!
  15. Another vote for T.T. Flowers. Her speed with the basketball is mind-blowing. Very unselfish with the ball, makes her teammates better, wants to win more than pad her stats. She can shoot lights out including the 3 ball although she takes very few. All around fantastic player who is very fun to watch. She is the total package as a phenomenal player, good kid, and great student. As Bigster mentioned she is the main reason the Lady Falcons have that #1 ranking and a shot at a state championship.
  16. Bigster we will just have to disagree. As someone once said "the golden age never was the present age". This is a different team than a couple of years ago in alot of ways. I think the argument could be made that either is the best we have seen. If anyone is laughing then they haven't watched the same games I have this year. I don't need a lecture about LC basketball as I have been around for my whole life as well. What is hilarious is that we are having this conversation when we both support the same team. Between you and I we have payed enough money to get into Lake County games the last fourty years that we could buy an new school lol. Yes I am a parent though I fail to see how that means anything. I minored in coaching in college and know enough about Tennessee Class A basketball to know a championship team when I see one. Will they win it? I hope so....there is no other team I would take over them right now. I believe Brett has them playing extremely well but I know him well enough to know he wants more...what good coach wouldn't. As far as the effort against Humboldt, Coach Johnson had a plan to feed Carnation the ball regardless. He is building her confidence and getting her alot of looks which should payoff come tourney time. He could have run his offense and scored at will but is working on different substitutions and skill positions. As far as UC goes they are a good team. They seem to run out of gas in the second half against quick teams, but that has been the case for the last few years with that team in Middle school as well. LC wore them down a couple of years ago in OT to win the Middle School championship. Amber Fair is a great player and they can give anybody fits. My whole point of coming on this board was to give a differing opinion about LC as I believe they are playing much better than Bigster's posts indicate. If you haven't seen them play then you would think we are struggling. These girls read Coach T and they need to know something other than negative is being said about them. Bigster hope to see you Friday night...no hard feelings just hope to keep our girls positive!
  17. Volfan007 I agree 100%. I was at Greenfield earlier this year when they gave us a heck of a game. My point was actually just that. If any of the teams lose their starting point guard (and even more so if they lose both point guards) they will not be the same team. I believe with their guards, Greenfield is the next best team in the region. My post was not at all intended to belittle Greenfield, just can't understand why our fans are down at all right now. I didn't think we played bad without TT last night at South Fulton. They made a run early not because of our defense as much as every single thing they put up went in for a short stretch. I have seen alot of teams play this year but with the exception of Perry Central KY, all of them missed layups and ft's. Most of our missed layups are because our girls are extremely fast and have trouble finishing at that speed. There is not a single A school in TN that makes all their layups and FT's. This team is scary good...ask any coach that has played them and I guarantee they have nothing bad to say!
  18. Wow Bigster, been waiting for that one post that would make me respond. If you aren't sold on this team, you may be the only one in LC. What more must they do? Your statement they aren't the same without TT is like saying the bulls aren't the same without Derrick Rose. It kinda doesn't need to be said. No team is the same without their point guard. Look at the teams in our district playing without their point guards. This team is in Championship form. I had so many people that were blown away with their play at Greenfield say that is the best LC team they have ever seen on the floor. These were people who haven't seen them play this year but were at the game because of the pee-wee cheerleaders. Remember they are getting everyone's best because of that #1 target on their backs and they are still beating everyone BAD! Could have won by 35-40 last night. Could have beaten Greenfield by alot more as well. Shamone and Carnation playing very well, and you can bet Shasta, Brooke, or Tiana will be lighting it up from 3pt range as well. Don't understand how you can watch them play and then say anything negative right now. Maybe the missed layups, but when they miss and then steal the ball and lay it in what difference does it make. I was in Daytona and saw them dismantle schools three and four times their size with players as tall as 6'4. This is a team that is taking the fans along for the ride and instead of picking out the negative look at how good they really are. WOW
  19. My point was I have not seen South Pitt play and their fans predicting us to get beat was like me predicting their game. Guessing at best....
  20. Things I find hilarious about this thread: 1) S.Pitt fans predicting our (Lake Co.) score without knowing ANYTHING about us other than what they have seen on message boards. I can do that as well- S.Pitt will lose by 3 in OT. Probably not right but just as much thought put into it. The guy who predicted Lake Co. would only score 14 pts has really done his homework!?! I don't think there has been a 5 min stretch in the last 7 games we didn't score 14 pts LOL. 2) McKenzie fans blaming their loss on turnovers when they had a +1 ratio for that game if I am not mistaken. 3) I believe Speed kills, not turnovers. 4) For the guy who mentioned our Mosquito breeding plant: Warning, you are not supposed to know about that and don't be surprised if you are visited by someone very high up in the military before Friday night. 5) Even I'll admit the announcer was over the top during the McKenzie game (even made a comment about a holding call once), but don't be surprised if he does it again since it worked the first time.lol For the record, I am not predicting a Lake Co win, although I will be there hoping for one. I have NEVER seen a team with this much heart and for anyone to pick against them is only setting yourself up for humiliation. The first game with McKenzie was the best I have seen in a long time and I expect the same Friday night. One thing is for sure, and that is nothing rallys Lake Countians faster than LC Football. It is the only thing in our community that brings together Black, White, Rich, Poor etc with a common goal. In a time when most people are struggling in LC just to put food on the table, it gives a couple of hours on Friday night where we feel like we are on top of the world. Thank you Falcon coaches, players, and fans for one fantastic ride which I hope continues for a few more weeks.
