  1. The lack of interest in this thread is a pretty good indication of where our football program is.
  2. Is anyone hearing any rumors of who is in the running to be the next football coach at Crockett County?
  3. The Mustangs need a little luck this year, but I expect they will have to make what luck they get. I honestly don't think the altercation between Thompson (#19) and Holder has anything to do with our problems this year. To bring everyone up to speed on the Brittian Thompson issue, he was kicked off the team for his actions and not allowed to come out for football for the 2010 year either. He also had to pay to go to the football banquet (as a guest) last year and was not recognized in any way for being on the 2009 team. He started every game in '09 and got absolutely no recognition for it. That's a tough penalty for a minute and a half of inappropriate action by a 16 or 17 year old kid. A lot of coaches could have made a man out of him with that same situation and he possibly could have gotten a college scholarship and changed his entire life. But that's water under the bridge. We've got 40+ other boys on the team and what would we want with a possible Mr. Football finalist in a school the size of Huntingdon? LOL I have now heard that the team is practicing on Sunday now. Now they are up to 7 days a week. Let me be the first to predict that 2 weeks from now there won't be 40 Mustangs on our roster. The past several years we have dressed out in the neighborhood of 70. I'm trying to think back 2 or 3 years ago and remember what changed in the program we were all so proud of. Folks, it appears there's trouble in paradise.........................
  4. One of the worst exhibitions of Huntingdon football I have witnessed in many, many years of watching happened last night at Paul Ward Stadium. Yes, we lost Holder to graduation last year. We also lost our pre-season all state center, Travis Ward, to a career ending knee injury a few weeks ago. That was very evident last night. Wallace (pre-season all state) went down early last night to an ankle injury. But those things should not have devastated the team. It has become evident to most in the stands that Swenson's hokus pokus offense is a joke. He wanted a small squad. He got it. I can't remember when Huntingdon has only had 40+ young men on the team. We've always prided ourselves in the number of kids that wanted to play Huntingdon football. Those days are gone. C. H. Pudor and Paul Ward probably rolled over a few times last night. I predict they won't get much rest on Friday nights this fall. Folks, it won't be any prettier at Milan next week.
  5. Thursday night at 7:30 at Paul Ward Stadium in Huntingdon.
  6. I noticed that Jorge Guerri was on Murphy Fair's Preseason All State list (and rightfully so). Since the TSSAA Handbook states that "The foreign exchange student may participate a maximum of one school year.", how did y'all pull that off? TSSAA usually doesn't flex on those kind of issues.
  7. now wannab is that your name because you always wanted to beat the mustangs or because you wanted to be a football player? volsandtitansfan why are you if you like those two teams i see why you are a mckenzie fan because all three teams suck one more thing i'm not in 6th gade i will be on the field friday night and i'm sure you will secertely have on a mustang shirt under your rebel gear 6stang6................if you will actually be on the field Friday night, then sit down and shut up. Do your talking on the field.
  8. Well when I played we had very good/athletic teams w/ great team speed and we played teams who had perfected the veer and it used to give us heck. I would rather defend a 1 back show anyday instead of the veer..... Keep thinking Huntingdon is a one back offense.......................please keep thinking that...................
  9. The Mustangs are focused. I believe we'll come out strong tonight.
  10. Go Tigers! From a Huntingdon fan. We're with you the rest of the season.
  11. The Huntingdon/Union City game next week looks to be a big one. Sure wish it was in Huntingdon.
  12. Let the talk begin. The Mustangs better be ready. Westview and Milan are in the books. Those Tigers will play as hard as they can against Huntingdon. But, with that said, if we bring our A game and hold on to the ball, it shouldn't be close. One game at a time, Mustangs. No looking ahead.
  13. volfan007, I've read your crybaby comments about the new TSSAA classifications until I am blue in the face. Now I would like for you to just go away. This is a Milan - Huntingdon thread in case you haven't noticed. Why not start your own topic and see if anyone else cares about what you think? I don't even care if you go away mad, JUST GO AWAY!!!
  14. I look for Martin Westview to win in a close one.
  15. I know the odds are against us by I think the Mustangs have a real shot at this one.
  16. volfan007.........sounds like you are an authority on enrollment numbers for Union City and Huntingdon. I guess the next time TSSAA needs enrollment numbers they should just contact you for those two schools numbers. I'm sure that you wouldn't guess about something as concrete as school enrollment numbers. What days did you make your counts? Just FYI......Huntingdon's enrollment numbers locked in with TSSAA last year at 382. This year's numbers are more like 360. These school's numbers are sadly not the only mysteries to you. I'm sure there are many more. Maybe you should do some actual research before you start running off at the mouth and showing your ignorance to everyone on CoachT.
  17. AMEN to that. There wasn't anything in the paper about the Blue and Gold srimmage except for Bush's column and you had to stumble on it then. This team needs a little publicity if for no other reason, just to pump them up. Maybe the Jamboree will be publicized in Wednesday's paper. Come on Mustang fans, rally around this team. They're going to make you proud this fall. RedGrange..........there's a little of chatter going around about who you are. You don't make a living watering down chemicals do you?
  18. Interesting match-ups. 1A Huntingdon vs 6A Graves County Ky to start the show. The Mustangs better hang on to the ball and quit putting it on the ground so much or trouble is brewing on the horizon.
  19. Blue and Gold Scrimmage at Paul Ward Stadium tonight at 6:00. Come on out.
  20. Are you saying Trinity's first string was on the field with Huntingdon's second string? How can you know? Several people watch Huntingdon practice on a regular basis. We know which boys are first and second string.
  21. Any Mustang fans with a strong stomach should come out this afternoon about 5:30 to watch practice. Things are lining up for it to be a slobber knocker. Don't eat before you come. Even a strong stomach may not be able to handle this!
  22. Murphy Fair has named Kennon Holder (Offense) and Zach Wallace (Defense) to his Preseason 1A All State Team. Congratulations to both. Class 1A Preseason All-State Offense QB Tyler Rice, Wayne Co. RB Cody Woodmore, Gordonsville RB Keenon Holder, Huntingdon RB Dray Mercer, Perry Co. WR Eric Williams, Knox Grace TE Tyler Walls, Coalfield OL Justin Daniel, Collinwood OL Atticus Frank, Knox Grace OL Ethan Belasic, Perry Co. OL Tyler Griffith, South Pittsburg OL Will Arnold, Union City K Edgar Salas, Collinwood Defense DB Kevin Ashabraner, Jo Byrns DB Tay Vaughn Wynn, Lookout Valley DB Wakon Roberson, Midway DB Terrell Robinson, South Pittsburg LB Zach Wallace, Huntingdon LB Chris Rogers, Lake Co. LB Dillon Warren, Wayne Co. DL Tyler Dalley, Greenback, DL Ronnie Fair, Union City DL Jiajuan Fennell, South Pittsburg P Stephen Johnstone, Knox Grace
  23. Mrbigster....I, too, agree with what you are saying. We were a very average team last year that came together late. I do think we will have a better team this year but no one in Huntingdon is talking state title, I promise. The post you responded to was from a diehard Milan fan. I doubt that you will find anyone in Huntingdon looking any farther than Westview and Milan. Part of your post sounds like your trying to stir up some of the Mustang faithful. I hope we get the chance to play Lake County in November. That will mean both teams have had a pretty good season. If so, I think you'll find plenty of folks to trash talk with. But for now, I think we just need to be concerned with the Aug. 20 game with Westview.
  24. The scrimmage is supposed to be at Huntingdon. I have not heard any mention of a time but with the heat rule, I would expect it to be late afternoon. No doubt, it's going to be interesting to watch. There's no telling who we may see playing anywhere. Several boys are getting looked at at several positions. The QB position is absolutely up for grabs but will probably end up being Warbritton or Melton's job (maybe both).
  25. Fall practice started Monday. The 2009 football season has started. GOOD LUCK MUSTANGS!!!
