  1. Peabody beats Humboldt tonight, 85-57. Sophomore Lorna Hudson leads the way for Peabody with 25 points, while senior Brianna Harper adds 20 points in the Lady Tide's highest offensive output since 2004.
  2. Yes. Springfield Middle School homepage, just under the school photo. http://www.rcstn.net/sms/home
  3. Apparently. The Weakley County Press quoted Chuck West as saying they were having an administrative meeting sometime today to set new dates and times for the 13A bracket.
  4. Hi Vic, BSFan posted on the rescheduling thread: Friday - Bruceton at Big Sandy Saturday - Big Sandy at West Carroll Monday - Clarksburg at Big Sandy Hope that helps.
  5. This thread can go in several different directions, but my vote for "best basketball gym" in the Mid-State is still Shelbyville Central. It was voted as one of the nation's top ten high school basketball venues by USA Today in 2004. For me - hard to top the days of "Rick's Grill," 110 straight wins and four consecutive state titles.
  6. My picks: 1) Lake Co. 2) Greenfield 3) Humboldt 4) Peabody Pretty confident these will be the top four. The championship and consolation games should be quite close, though. 14A will put three in the regional semifinals. Humboldt or Peabody would be a tough draw for Gleason.
  7. Middleton/Madison Academic is postponed until next Monday, 2/15. Most schools in West Tennessee remain closed tomorrow due to the remaining ice and snow on the roads.

  14. CoachT, could you add WTKB (victory937.com) to the audio link list? They broadcast Gibson Co., Milan, Peabody, Bradford, South Gibson and Humboldt basketball games. I'll add the link for each individual game.

  16. That's one of the drawbacks to seeding, as you might get an less-competitive first round game. Humboldt beat Gibson Co. in a close game (70-65) back in November. But the Vikings got an impressive 12-point win at home against Union City last night. That possible Humboldt/Dyer Co. game sounds like a really good one. Then, of course, Bolivar looks to roll to the championship game.
  17. Here are the superlatives. Have not seen the complete team list. Best Defensive Lineman: Brandon Blackwell, Ripley Best Kicker: Jose Dimas, Crockett Co. Best Punter: Rick Moody, Milan Best Specialist: Jordan Brasher, Milan Coach of the Year: Jeff Morris, Milan

  20. The Milan station website is victory937.com. Only the sports programming is streamed, so the feed will begin at 2pm. If that still doesn't work, live audio for all the games will be provided by the Tennessee High School Sports Network at TSSAA.org.
  21. BulldawgGirl - just so we're clear, your boys and my boys are the same. No clarifications needed on the other fans. I've been reading this site since you and I were both at MHS. Go Bulldogs.
  22. Most of you guys are just on here for kicks and giggles, but this post is the best and most sensible by a Milan fan this season. Maryville has probably improved a lot since August, as they were a fairly young team this year, but I saw them put up more than 400 yards of total offense on Riverdale last week. (By the way, Riverdale has one of the best defenses in D-I.) To think that Alcoa did the same thing to the Red Rebels shows that Coach Rankin's team is very strong. Alcoa fans can expect to see Milan's best game. Whether that means the Tornadoes still win or the Bulldogs pull the upset, we won't know until Friday. But as a fan, that's all you can ask of your team. Best of luck to Coach Morris and the guys as they practice this week - looking forward to seeing you back in the championship.
  23. Congratulations to both programs on returning to the state championship! Most fans had predicted this rematch, but hats off to Alcoa and Milan for getting it done on the field. These stats won't determine a winner or loser. For what they are worth, though, here are some numbers of interest: Alcoa averages 332 rushing yards per game. Milan gives up 108. Milan averages 229 rushing yards per game. Alcoa gives up WELL under 100. Alcoa averages about 60 passing yards per game. Milan gives up 96. Milan averages 129 passing yards per game. Alcoa gives up about 90. Alcoa averages 37.4 PPG. Milan gives up 10.0 PPG. Milan averages 39.2 PPG. Alcoa gives up 8.1 PPG.
  24. Congratulations to Heather Griffin of Gibson County! She surpassed the 1,000 point mark during Monday night's game at Humboldt. The UT Martin signee and 2009 AA state tournament MVP now has 1,022 career points, with more than 500 rebounds. Her family must be very proud Heather is an outstanding young lady. Best of luck to her this season and in the future.
  25. It doesn't get much better than playing football on the Friday after Thanksgiving in Milan. Congratulations to Coach Brown and York Institute for making the program's first-ever semifinal appearance. Dragon fans have to be really excited about this run, especially after beating Goodpasture on the road and last week's final-minute heroics (Reynolds to Williams, twice) to hold off Smith County. Milan looks like a team on a mission. Following a close first two games, in which Milan was missing a number of starters, the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 451-84. Most of those points were against the second-team defense. During that 11-game span, Milan has averaged 353 yards per contest while giving up just 171. A shameless plug here, but I have been working on the Milan football website this week at milanhighsports.com. It has lots of information on both teams, including scouting reports, stats, rosters and more. York fans can find directions from Jamestown to Milan, as well as a Game Day Visitors' Guide with info on our local restaurants. We're even having a semifinal Pick 'Em contest, where you can win two tickets to the Music City Bowl and a $25 gas card. Best of luck to both teams, safe travels for the Dragons and an injury-free game. Go Bulldogs! -Clay
