  1. 1st qrt- C-ville looked like they will open up the offense this year. I think the defense will be their strength under former CBHS coach O'Neal. Bolton looks like they will stuggle filling the holes from last years departures. 2nd qrt- Houston looked decent. The passing game looked to be in mid season form, I would like to see more of a running game. I heared the Trojans had their way with Houston in a scrimmage last week, not sure what happened. Lets see them againts the owls this week to evaluate them and the coaching. 3rd qtr- S-wind has talent, I want to see if the coaches can put it together. They have a new young QB ( tranfer from OB) looked good against CBHS in scrimmage but did not play in jamboree due to injury. Bartlett has many ? marks. 4th qtr- If Arlington can replace the departed qb they will be pretty explosive again. Their defense looked ok. I left when Gtown got the ball. I hope they open up their offense more, and based on what I read in the CA they may do just that. The county looks wide open! RobM whats your take?
  2. I see most of the post are from Bartlett supporters which helps me understand your anxiety in getting that first win. Sorry though, it wont come this week. I am a neutral fan and Arlington is extremely proficient in what they do. The staff at Arlington implemented the Tony Franklin system which means their offense is their best D. They will outscore most opposition, and with Bartlett corners ten yards off the ball it will be fairley easy. If Bartletts ground attack can milk the clock ( and they have the RB to do it) they can keep it close. The panthers could have beat Houston had the qb hit the open RB down the sideline in the final seconds. The qb and kicker position need to be revisited, in the end ( Bartlett 12- Arlington 42). I know Bartlett fans let hope the swame is wrong!
  3. I will be at Houston, with all of the hype I need to see if the QB is for real. I will get the play by play from the MUS game though.
  4. Let me start this post by saying I agree with most of the assessments, but the one about Houston. Rob M what you saw in the Houston scrimmage was no fluke.. they are for real. Dont base your opinion on the jamboree, they were trying to get out of there injury free. The CA had it right yesterday when they said explosive offense. Rob, if you remember Jasmine Taylor from Central last year thats her little brother at QB. Expect big things from this transfer. The defense will be a work in progress with the graduation of 30 seniors, but i think they will have enough offense to hold on until the pups on that side of the ball catch up. By the way Arlington has installed a new high octane offense and the will be better than 500. you heared it hear first. Gtown is horrible, someone at the CA must have been paid for that ranking. Suthwind is extremely talented and will finish no worse that 4th.
  5. Calm down czar, we will withhold all post until Sunday. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

DU how is the /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> in the BORO... P.S. breaking news from the Sportsczar, the Clock will run /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> .
  7. Will they keep the clock running in the state touurney if a team is down by 35+? Is there a mercy rule? Will Central have to stay inside the 3 point line in the second half on defense? Has a team ever scored 100 points in a state tourney game????????? /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> Sportsczar do you have the answers?
  8. Well, if it's any consolation to you millingtonfan2007,pantherbert, or Bartlettgrad. I have some extra green and yellow t shirts we printed up and some rooms MarkH released from that hold at the Scottish Inn's. Please join us just in case that same official shows up in the Boro. I can be reached at 901-777-9311.
  9. My crystal ball says Memphis Overton by double digits...
  10. Central blistered Overton with a first round oops "quarter" TKO. Erica burgess hit them with a jab, then Whiteside's left hook wobbled them. The ref called a standing eight count " timeout", then Ballard hit Overton with a upper cut " spin move for two" I yelled Body Blow and Taylor immediately hit them with that Garnet move down low. We were waiting for them to throw in the towel but they grabbed the ropes instead, "qrt ended". Round two, Ajanaku hits them with a combination left, right, left as she rose for two ( she had a double double). I think you get the point... The final 16 teams remaining are all talented and well deserving, but what everyone outside of Memphis fails to realize IMO is this, they are a five headed monster. Burgess is one of the best athletes in the state and faster with the ball than most players without it. Ajanuku is a freak of nature, she has mad hops, six feet and plays all five positions. Taylor as versatile as they come, has to play post for this squad but would drop 25 a night if she did not transfer from Collierville. Whiteside, a do it all freshman guard from Jp Freeman who has no pressure with this surrounding cast, she is 5'10 and gets double figures nightly. Last but not least, Ballard the best freshman in the state. She will cross you, take you off the bounce and is becoming a dead eye three ball shooter. Pick your poison, it's a slow death or the electric chair same results. WHO's GOT NEXT.. Glass house here they come! P.S. MarkH I need those rooms.... /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  11. My crystal ball was off by a few points.. I'm waiting on FEDEX do deliver the new one. Phil, break the game down on how you saw it.
  12. Well its been 24 years since the AAA gold ball has made its way to Memphis. You should not mind if we borrow it this year /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> . By the way, cancel that block of rooms you have on hold if you are not showing up, I can use my friends and family discount on them for a few more Memphians! /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  13. I have a feeling the powers that be may find away for the two Shelby County teams to meet before the finals.. This is assuming they both make it to the Boro. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  14. I guess we will not see the dream matchup of OR v Memphis Central in AAA..... My bracket is busted!
  15. Well Phil, my crystal ball said 20+ but i did not want to insult anyone... /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> Honestly, I think it will be a pretty close game. I think the double digit spread will come by way of free throws in the final minutes. As I said before I HOPE. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  16. MarkH, it seems like the one thing everyone needs to remember about the Millington loss was Central started 3 seniors and 2 freshman playing their second high school game. I would think the runner up for the gold ball returning all 5 starters with deep postseason experience could or should have taken advantage of that. Do you think the freshman were better in November or now in March? So yes, your post does sound like an excuse for their loss. The result would be the same in Millington, at Central, or on a neutral court. Keep winning, you may get your wish... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> ......
  17. Look for an all 16AAA championship. Central by +10 Melrose by +3 I HOPE /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  18. BBall, you are right with the signing date ... it was last years crop that was in the late signing group. As far as Lausanne, they are in a league of their own /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> they dont count. The talent stockpiled over there can compete in any league. As stated in my previous post I would love to see Memphis losse the door mat moniker, and fill up the field house. Ashley Robinson was a great catch for Memphis, I just believe there were others who could of helped generate a local buzz as well. I hope Mcferrin does put a wall around Memphis as far as recruiting, when she gets that first big name the rest will follow..
  19. U of M program became successfull establishing itself with local talent and went national with coach Cal. if you want to believe the 5 "3 kid from Botson is an elite program changer think again. When you play in a home school or a SBEC type of league its extremely difficult to judge that type of talent. Remember most game changers or difference makers are signed in November, very few in April as this kid will do. I hope the program does turn around and become a top tier team in c-usa. I think many local girls would like the opportunity to play for them, but when you see opponents coaches come in town to play them and make time to show up to games thats speaks volumes. That staff is not visible in the stands...
  20. As a parent I must dissagrree that the new coaches will be any differnt than the last. This senior class has to be the most talented group in Memphis history! For the tigers to only land Ashley Robinson from this group is a joke. You will only get out what you put in, and right now U of Memphis is not investing anything into Memphis. Coach Mcferrin gave a long spill to some of us this summer about how she wanted to keep the best players from Memphis in Memphis. DU, you were there when she said it. Right after a local AAU team kicked her returning teams but in the field house. If someone wants to compile a list of the top players they could of got but didnt it might surprise you. Until U of M puts a strangle hold on Memphis talent the product on the floor will be average at best and the seats will be EMPTY.
  21. Match-ups for Region 8 (15AAA should get 3 out of 4) Memphis Overton ??“vs- Fairly (Memphis Overton +3) White Station ??“vs- Memphis East (White Station +1) Ridgeway ??“vs- Melrose (Ridgeway +1) Houston ??“vs- Memphis Central (Memphis Central +5) Match-ups for Region 8 (15AAA should get 3 out of 4) Memphis Overton ??“vs- Fairly (Memphis Overton +3) White Station ??“vs- Memphis East (White Station +1) Ridgeway ??“vs- Melrose (Ridgeway +1) Houston ??“vs- Memphis Central (Memphis Central +5) Im sorry DU I must dissagree.. Melrose will beat Ridgeway+5 Coaching goes to Melrose, Toughness goes to Melrose, and lastly home court advantage and the orange mound crowd goes to Melrose. Orange Mound +5!
  22. I guess I found the answer. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2009/feb/24/p...ak-ridges-side/
