  1. ALL "mommas" do that from time to time. I know that I have seen some pretty odd calls this year too, but I do know that the refs during Saturday nights' game, didn't make my daughter miss her 3 pointer and 2 foul shots. So she was in the gym yesterday shooting and she about killed me, because I had to rebound for her! I don't know how they keep up the regimine every day! Good luck to everyone down the stretch! Stay injury free please! GO LADY BLAZE!
  2. Go LADY BLAZE! It is "time" to "peak" as they say.....like last year!
  3. Hey Riverdaleman, I've only seen 2 of the RD games, but I haven't seen or heard much about Rachel this year. Is she injured or something? She is such a great player and person on and off the court and has a wonderful attitude.
  4. Thank you PHargis for always keeping the information up to date with all the box scores and the upcoming tournament schedule on this thread! We don't have to go search for all of this on other sites because you are always on top of it! It is hard to believe that the regular season is almost over. It is especially difficult when your daughter is a senior! In my opinion, 7AAA is the best district that a student athlete could ever be a part of and we will never forget the ride even though it has been a "bumpy" one at times. Thanks again.
  5. I talked to Coach today and he said it does replace the Warren Co. game. Thanks!
  6. Bri, So does the LaVergne game replace the Warren Co game scheduled for the 15th?
  7. Sounds like he might win the chili competition since he will probably be the only one there. Mt. Juliet vs Portland and Wilson Central at Lebanon games have moved to Thursday night instead of Friday along with Lawrence Co and Tullahoma, Forrest, Shelbyville, etc. We should hear something from Mr. Gill later as to the games for our county.
  8. In the past few hours I have noticed that several games in the middle TN area have been moved up from Friday night to tomorrow night (due to the updated weather forecast for late Thursday night and all day Friday--ice and snow). Has anyone heard anything about the Rutherford County games being moved?
  9. Just overlook Hicotton.....he is just a little proud of Powell and how well they played last year because that is his alma mater..... Heck, he didn't even have to change his "orange" shirt from the Powell game to the Blackman game last year at The Murphy Center! This week should be very interesting....Good luck to all the players and we are hoping for an injury free season!
  10. Blackman is actually 6-0. They also handed Lawrence County their only loss (in Columbia 11/28). Lawrence County is a very good team. IMO, Blackman should be ranked higher, but flying below the radar is sometimes best! Good luck to all the teams!
  11. You may get what you wish for. Even though the extended forecast is sunny and clear....Hurricane Ida (a Category 2 now) may change that for everyone! Heavy flooding rains expected into Wednesday through Mississippi...then where will it go from there? Will it rain on Wednesday/Thursday and soak the field, or will it stall out and hang around through Friday???? Who knows, but storms have a mind of their own.
  12. A few points to make: Someone mentioned that moving the game to Thursday night was an option, but Riverdale declined the offer and said no: Riverdale wanted to play on Friday as scheduled. Too bad, it rained, but it did rain on both sides of the field and on each team. (Blackman I believe fumbled a lot of times, so there were many opportunities to take advantage of the turnovers). I also remember that when Farragut traveled over 3 hours and played in the rain, and Riverdale beat them in the bad weather, and there was nothing mentioned about the "weather" being a factor in that game, but it was a win....I guess that was the difference. A student also said that after the game, when she stepped her foot on the field, that her leg sunk into the field, up to the knee. She commented that she didn't know how ANYONE could have played football on that field that night. That again, would include BOTH teams and all players, not just the ones with spears on their helmets. Also, once she got to the car (which she was made to park in the grass), she thought she would never get out and that many cars were stuck in the grass and couldn't move. (Are the students being blamed for this too)? But she had fun! Either way, these are kids and how many of us remember those days when we "won a big one" and celebrated after the game! Cold, wet and soaked, she will never forget that night! I cannot imagine that any student ran out on that field just to see if they could mess it up for the next game----sounds to me like it was already "messed up"---please folks, get a life and let the kids be kids! Best of luck to all the teams--play injury free please!
  13. I think 104.5 the zone and murphy fair said it best "blackman shutout riverdale tonight. Now riverdale did score but it was only because of a bad snap on a punt that rolled into their endzone." so yeah thanks for the gift...... Hahahaha also there was no fumble in the endzone that blackman recovered we actually got the ball in the endzone with no help from YOUR team we did it on our own! Speaking of 104.5, The Zone.....thank goodness they covered the game tonight! Since we couldn't make it to the game, it was wonderful actually listening to the game and knowing what team was on the field, where they were on the field, what down it was, what quarter it was, how much time was left on the clock, etc. Thanks to the guys from 104.5! That is the way radio coverage is supposed to work! Kudos to all the players on a muddy night---wait a minute. I believe EVERY Friday night has been muddy???? GO BLAZE--take it all the way! Congrats!
  14. Gapet, I spent a lot of time reading your past posts today. Out of all them, I noticed that you seem to have a real problem with "parents" of players who disagree or say something about a coach. In Williamson County it was the ("Brentwood parents and their whining and money talking, etc.") or the "Assistant Coaches" -- Darth Vader. Here in Rutherford County it has been us "looking through rose colored glasses". You mentioned in one of your posts that you were a coach's wife. I would think that a coach's wife would not get on a public forum and tell "things" that should be confidential and kept at the school where your husband used to work, whether that be Ravenwood or Riverdale. You have also personally attacked our daughter numerous times on CoachT by saying things like she has no talent, she wasn't good enough to be recruited, etc. You never even knew us before your husband changed jobs so you think you know us in a matter of 6 months or so...???? I have read several things that you posted that could have ONLY come out of the coach's office or from the Director of RCS, which I doubt he would be discussing with anyone.
  15. Thanks Riverdaleman for you kind words. You are right---we are only in high school for a short time and I remember going to state when I cheered for my alma mater---South Greene High School back in the late 70's. Wow! We had a great girls team back then! It was great watching SGHS play at the Murphy Center last year and I enjoyed seeing old friends again. Those kind of memories are etched in the brain forever--no matter how "old" I get! lol
  16. JC27. I'm not jealous of any Nike team, in fact we went and watched and cheered on alot of the girls we know on those teams. We sat next to two RD players at one of the games. The exhibition game was awesome to watch and seeing 250+ college coaches was exciting! Our daughter chose to opt out of playing travel ball this summer because she was asked to coach a 9u team of girls out of Nashville. She did have to deal with some issues, not with the parents, but did have to address some of the kids having ADHD and some other problems. She was so trusted by the parents, that she was asked to go to a summer camp with them and watch over them in their dorm for a week. As far as memories down the road, we do have now and will continue to have wonderful memories of our daughter's basketball years. Over the past 3 years, she learned enough about how 'not to coach' as much as she has about plays and coaching on the floor. In other words, she will not play 'head games' with her players. Please tell me whom I am badgering? While you are at it, why don't you step out of the dark and tell me who you are since you seem to know me and my family so well? I have not caused problems for anyone. I am NOT the one on probation. One final question. Why do you think this is my daughter's "last year" of basketball? I "don't" know you or your family I have just "read" your posts. And you "make" it obvious that you are very well "entrenched" in "the" situtaion. I have a hard time believing that any high school player is going to take a summer off of playing to coach a 9u girls team. Sounds "like" another excuse to me of "why" your daughter was not able to make an "AAU" team. By the way who or what are RD players? And I do not know for a fact that it is her last year but it will be either for graduation or because she decides to "opt" (whatever that means) out of playing in the summer which means others are getting better and she is not. By the way I think that it is great that the parents asked her to stay in the dorm over camp. JC27: Yes, it was hard for to believe that she wanted to take off this summer, but after the Riverdale episode last year, we didn't think she would ever play again and it was her decision to make. She has always wanted to coach and this opportunity presented itself and she jumped on it. Her team practiced 2 to 3 nights a week and played nearly every weekend, so she could not do both, but like I said, at the time, we thought she would never play again so there wasn't any worries about "getting better". One day she came home and said that she did want to play her last year of high school and she started training hard, went to the gym to shoot and got on a strict diet. She started running and pushing hard to get back in shape. She took private lessons with her trainer that she used for many years in Nashville and she is excited about her Senior year. We are not sure what she will decide to do as far as college, but contrary to what people seem to think about her abililities, she has been receiving some recruiting letters. Like I said, this is HER decision, not ours. Opt out is just another word for choosing not to do something. As far as her being in 3 different schools, it has been difficult. She left her best friends behind at IHS but still hangs out with them and some of her FRanklin friends. She loves Blackman and seems to have adjusted quite well. Since you have been studying my posts, you will also read that I mentioned that we had made mistakes. Do you know anyone who is perfect? I only know of one man who is perfect that walked this earth. But life deals us some real hard knocks along the way and she is and will be prepared more than most kids to deal with "change" and "adversity".
  17. You are right Phargis! (Wait a minute, did I "agree" with you on something?) haha Let's talk about the teams, and the exciting season ahead! Sorry that my wagon fell into a ditch....and I got a little side-tracked. I feel lately, like I'm "walking on eggshells" every time I post something. Oops---did I use quotations again?....I had better call my English teacher! I've been trying to find out who the big player is that you keep talking about but I have not had any success. Several teams have several tall players already so I'm sure that some of the other schools are p r a y i n g that she will consider them as her team! Will keep you posted if I hear any news!
  18. JC27. I'm not jealous of any Nike team, in fact we went and watched and cheered on alot of the girls we know on those teams. We sat next to two RD players at one of the games. 19. Gapet, you are correct in your saying that sometimes we look through rose colored glasses and I'm sure I've been guilty of that from time to time. However; I'm sure of this much, I have the most loving and wonderful Christian daughter that a mom could have and only wish that I could live by example as she does every day. I'm not perfect by any means, but I hope that somehow I've taught her to take up for herself and be tough because life isn't always easy. As far as playing time, that is not up to me--Coach Hibdon will decide if and when she gets to play. There is some really good talent in the guard/shooting guard positions there in Shelby, Konner, Chelsea, Kelsey and on and on, but she will be happy just being around these awesome role models. Yes, I'm sure there is "some" drama there, but it is truly the closest team I've ever had the pleasure of being a part of and look forward to a great season at BHS. When it comes to making a "move"---no matter who the coach is....think long and hard about it. Sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side. I was WARNED many times over from some people at IHS, but laid my ears back and did it anyway. But even though mine was a mistake--yours might work out perfect---I'm just saying to take a long time and think it over. I too know what it is like to be "wrongly accused" of something. It may be years down the road, but the truth will prevail. It always does. Best of luck to your daughter too!
  20. Riverdale Man and Phargis..... You both have excellent points! Sorry I get a little emotional and defensive but I would like to be able to post just like anyone else without have a few certain "people" attacking me. As RD said, people make decisions, right or wrong, to do what is best at the time for their kids. Riverdale Man, you are a true fan, through good and bad and you are to be commended for your support - and you have always been nice to us. I have one in college and one graduating and I would like to enjoy this season without all of the DRAMA. We do not have DRAMA at Blackman and for the first time in 3 years of high school basketball, THAT is "refreshing" and I plan on enjoying EVERY minute of it! As I mentioned in an earlier post---my daughter is smiling and laughing for the first time in a long time! She has fully recovered from her foot surgery and was "officially re-released" again in March. She is playing pain free for the first time in a long time. These girls are very closely knit and have so much in common and share goals that are not just about "the gold ball"! They laugh about rolling up one of the players in a floor mat by mistake--they are not talking about who got drunk at a party last night. The experiences they share together as a team will carry them very far in life. I give credit to their parents for raising such awesome girls! Isn't that what we all want for our daughters? Our district is full of wonderful players, coaches that care and great fans! Best of luck to everyone and I pray that not one player will suffer an injury this season! GO BLAZE!
  21. Trust me Hoopngal.....I am only on ONE SIDE OF THE FENCE when it comes to your school! Having said that however; there are some really nice teachers, parents and players at the "dale" who come up and talk to me when they see me at games and out in public. Why don't you ever "jump" on other posters who might say something "negative" against your school? Coach Lanier talked to my daughter when she was coaching her 9u AAU team this summer and she recently saw him at the grocery store and they talked about his new role at Columbia! They had a really good conversation. Kudos to him and his family! She runs into the "ex trainer" alot and they are good friends. In other words, some people didn't "drink the kool-aid" and do not share the hatred that you display. Thanks to CoachT, we can get on this public forum and express ourselves about games, players, schools, etc. Last year I sat back and let people rip me, my husband and my daughter to pieces and sat silently---NOT HAPPENING THIS YEAR sista! I respect your opinion even though I don't agree with it. Whether you or anyone else cares if I exist or not---means nothing to me. After making some of the biggest mistakes of our lives in 08, we now know that it was destiny and a blessing in disquise and we are where we belong. Finally, our daughter can smile again and "enjoy" her sport! As for coffee stains on my teeth---I have mine professionally whitened!
  22. I am glad you are impressed! And yes I do keep up with Riverdale, Siegel, Oakland, Smyrna, Blackman, LeVergne, etc. and alot of other sports as I am a huge sports fan in general. And yes, I do manage to do alot---run a household, work a full time job, own a business, take care of my family (dog and cat included), etc. Please go back and READ the post---I did not state that Riverdale went to MTSU camp---someone else did. I am sure that they are following the probation to a "tee" and dotting every "i") AGAIN, read the post---I said that most of the Riverdale players were on the "Nike Flight" teams--and I did not say that the Riverdale "coaches", (the ones that are left anyway) were coaching them did I? (Even though HMH is listed as one of the "flight coaches" on their website). Anyone who follows travel ball saw them playing all summer on different "Nike Flight" teams--Black, Blue, Orange, Green, Silver, Gold, or whatever colors they were! And the way that the rules are written for travel team playing, they have every "right to do so".... Stop, drink a cup of coffee and "chill".....
  23. Just curious.....How did Riverdale "go to MTSU camp"? I thought they were on P R O B A T I O N? No summer camps, no holiday tournaments, no jamborees, etc.? You must have meant when the Riverdale "NIKE FLIGHT" teams went to MTSU camp.....
