Well pretty sure the game was very even throughout the first half until around 9 min left when Josh Sanders drew up a pk for Riverdale. This made the game 1-0. When this happened everyone saw Oakland go down and which they gave up 3 goals back to back with in 4 minutes....That was the deciding point Riverdale can do anything at anytime of the game if a team gives up. 2nd half was very physical and which the game was controlled in the middle. Oakland continued to change offenses and different formations but couldnt get a chance in although they had few. The score should of been different. Not worse at all but better in Oaklands favor. We did raise $876 for the victoms of last weeks tornados. Oakland plays Friday.

From the DNJ.. The Oakland boys soccer team will donate the gate receipts from tonight's home game with city rival Riverdale to families who were effected by the Good Friday tornadoes.Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. The money raised won't bring back any homes destroyed. But it will go a long way in showing those in the Murfreesboro area that although that the games have resumed, the thoughts and prayers are still with those that lost their homes in the tornadoes. Oakland first-year soccer coach Jeff Boynton came up with the idea. He spent the majority of the weekend with one of his players, whose home was destroyed by the tornado. Boynton showed up at Oakland senior Justin Henderson's home Friday afternoon to lend his support to the family. "He came over here and put himself in danger to help us," said Tammy Henderson, Justin's mother. "It's dangerous over there. "He showed up in our front yard and was just willing to work. That's valuable in our eyes and important to my son's eyes to know that he cares about you." The Hendersons were at home when the tornado struck. They were sitting in a bath tub when their house was lifted and placed on their car about 15 feet away. Oakland canceled its soccer game with Smyrna scheduled for Saturday, allowing Boynton, his team and players' parents to go to the Henderson's home. There they volunteered their help. "They helped us a lot," Henderson said. "You want to just get what you need and get out. But they helped make sure we got all of our valuables out." Now, the team will attempt to go one step farther. It will attempt to help other families like the Hendersons. Maybe this will catch on. Sure, thousands of dollars won't be raised at any single athletic event. But perhaps this is a way that all of the county's athletic programs can step up to the challenge. What would happen if every athletic team in the county gave gate receipts from one game to those that lost their homes because of the tornadoes? Would it bring a home back? No. But it would go a long way in helping families cope with various expenses. It could help feed a few families, or maybe allow a family to go purchase an extra shirt or pair of shoes ??” something they may not currently have. And perhaps more important, it shows the Murfreesboro community that athletic teams care about those involved in the disaster. Sure, not every team had an athlete directly affected. But it's a safe bet that everyone knows someone that lost a home or had home damage.

Oakland's whole team is very young, believe there is 2 seniors that has been there since Freshman. They will be the team in the future. As for other teams I believe Siegel has some young talent to come too.
  5. Tim Mcadoo from Oakland. Led the state team to tackles and was on the nomination for Mr. Football of the year last year.

  10. Yes congrats on Oaklands win tonight well deserved game for them, although they could of hit the ball more. Stevie is one heck of a pitcher for his age. We will see more from him and expect from him too /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  11. Oakland 3 Lebanon 1 wow what a game.... /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> Hats off on the 2nd half for Oakland to step up.. Game started off slow Oakland didn't control the ball or communicate like they have been. Then around 5 min left was a goal off a free kick in which Oakland took the lead 1-0 into half. 2nd half both teams came out hot and passed both well to each other although there was alot of unnecessary words being exchanged through Lebanon's players. Lebanon knocked one in and really had the momentum until Oakland fired one in about 15 min left in . During this time we saw Lebanon break down mentally and lost there style of play. They ran there mouth and continued to challenge every call. We even had 2 of Lebanon's players to the sideline and say vulgar things which was not right. Oakland knocked another in with 4 mins left in which 1 player got ejected from the game. If Lebanon would of hushed there mouth I believe they could of tied this game and made it into something. But it was a different story. Congrats to Oakland Soccer, Keep it up cause pretty sure thats 2 wins in a row for a turnaround season /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  12. Anyone have an idea of the range of high speed that is thrown today throughout the pitchers?
  13. hmm don't you think coach's usually get a good word from this site ? I know I have heard stories of coachs loggin on during the day just to get that extra scoop on there opponent's star athletes /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> ! Pretty common Good luck to these teams.
  14. This game is going to be fun, can't wait to see this played out. Big Rivaly GRRRR Big Red
  15. Good luck to Blackman this year. Should be a good year with all the young guys that they have. Lots of talent too /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  16. Congrats to Brett Carroll... /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> Always love to see those tn players move on up.
  17. hmmm....for my predictions Lebanon will pull it off 7-3 Oakland wins 10-0 Riverdale wins in the last inning for a 5-4 win Blackman hits the ball well and wins 8-1 gl to these teams /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  18. Oakland plays Lebanon tonight.... If ya want to see a improved team show some action come to Oakland around 7:00 at kickoff. Should be a high scoring game for one time /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  19. Did I say Oakland was gone? No. I said the former coach.. Why are you all being so dang smart in this thread. This coach earned to coach in the All american game somehow so why be so negative.
  20. Congrats on Cookeville getting there touch down, I know its been 2 or 3 games before they knocked in some of those old numbers there used to.
  21. There is no school in Tennessee that compare to the field that Oakland has, as they have a coach that stays on the field 24/7 to make sure it is ready and clean. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  22. As a graduate of Oakland, its been hard seeing Coach King knowing this is his last year. I'm really happy for the success that he has given Oakland High throughout the years he has created some big time players and developed a very hard spot to fill in for him. The Junior class soon to become Seniors all had plenty of playing time and will be a contender for that number 1 spot with Siegel. Jamal Hughes is Oaklands leading scorer and hoped to get that 1k mark next season. With the talk above Green seems to be a big name for someone for Oakland to hire although there is plenty of offers. I believe last heard there was 30 or more offers......
  23. Congrats on coach of Beardon. Although cough cough Coach King of former Oakland should be there /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  24. Drew Thompson of Oakland High /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  25. I think a suprising star at Oakland and upcoming is Tyler Mcdonald. Very improved from day 1 when he came here from Siegel he was very out of shape and had a hard time adjusting to the Oakland style that is played. Tyler is hitting above 500% and hit his first homer this weekend. Hope he continues to keep up to his name cause sure as heck he is hitting the ball and getting those runs on the board which is what Oakland needs.
