  1. I really don't understand why it's so hard for them to advertise their games. During the Summer, when they sign a contract to broadcast a game, making it iron-clad, they need to have it announced on the sportscasts during FOX 17 News that very night. That's FREE advertising. For goodness sake, WVLT had their schedule out before Father's Day. But their [MyTV30] promotion of their high school basketball coverage is even worse. They don't even have a webpage for that on the MyTV30 site. Rivalry Thursday will far outlive Friday Night Rivals simply because RT knows how to get itself out there on the horizon of the season, and you only hear about FNR games from the teams that are playing in them (I first heard about Smyrna-LaVergne from Kreager). If Spring Hill-Page is one of the games being covered, and this message board is the first place I heard about it, someone is not very good at their job.
  2. Yeah, it's Smyrna-LaVergne, but that's all I've seen. They're not releasing the rest of their schedule, for some reason.
  3. Look at WVLT, putting out their schedule two months before the season starts. MyTV30 waits until we're two WEEKS out before they spit out the Friday Night Rivals schedule.
  4. From what I've heard, if the public/private split occurs, they may have to create DII-AAA.
  5. Luke Sheppard will take over as Oakland head coach; Lonny Drayton replaces Sheppard at Smyrna.

  7. She's going to Stewarts Creek to be an assistant to Tory Atwood.
  8. Janice Morey has stepped down after a decade on the job.

    16-AAA

Who won that tournament? All the TSSAA has on its Regional bracket on its site is that Memphis Overton finished as runner-up.
  10. Actually, CC finished 4th. Soddy finished 3rd.
  11. Yeah, they probably dressed in the basketball locker room, then, although that's a long walk, because the basketball gym is on the other side of the school. If you walk around the campuses of Oakland and Riverdale, then the campuses of Siegel and Blackman, you'd be surprised how old-fashioned the former two are in sheer size compared to the latter two.
  12. Oh, OK. Which side of the school were you parked on?
  13. Their field house is right behind the home stand, then there's another building to the right, which houses the locker room, video room, etc.
  14. I've always thought that they should do a flex schedule, or viewers' choice games, like CSS did in its later years, come October. I remember when their last game in 2010 was Independence-Ravenwood, when both teams were below .500 and out of playoff contention. Indy won that game 9-3. Being on Fridays now makes it a bit easier to flex. Another issue, though, is the fact that, outside of exposure, there's no real benefit to the school itself (read: $). I won't mention whom, but one school won't let TNL/FNR around anymore because they end up losing money with people opting to stay home, and the station offers no partial recoup. I sure hope ESPN is giving Blackman something besides exposure for the Oakland game, because that's kind of a raw deal to have two teams based in the Southeast playing at 11 AM on a Sunday in August.
  15. And there's another part of it. The schedule for the Rivalry Thursday series on MyVLT2 in Knoxville is already out. It's been out. Friday Night Rivals hasn't released their schedule yet, and we were a month from the season starting back on Monday. They need to post a schedule on their site, and fill it in as they confirm games, because the longer you wait to unveil a whole 11-week schedule, the more and more people are going to start to wonder if you'll be around at all. That's not good business sense. When they aired basketball games back in January and February, they didn't even have a schedule of games on their website. You had to see the broadcast itself to know which game was next. I read an interview with the guy whose production company does all the behind-the-scenes work for FNR and HS Hoops. He says they're talking about adding baseball in the future, but if poor promotion by the people who air the games continues, there won't be any FNR or HS Hoops or whatever they would title a baseball broadcast because people won't care if the station gives no effort.
  16. Yep. I think this is a gamble that may not work out in the long run. CSS lasted less than a decade with a full slate of Friday night games before their schedule went from a half-season to no games at all. Another big thing for me regarding TNL was the fact that they had a different title sponsor every single year, and FNR has a different one in Dr Pepper. I know times are tough, but having a different title sponsor each year is a red flag that maybe the people behind the production aren't treating the big sponsor like they should.
  17. There's one. Anybody know of any other games?
  18. I only found out about the change today. They don't have a schedule out yet, but I do know that the broadcast team will be completely different (yep, no more Murphy Fair). I'm thinking they made this change because they didn't want to go up against CBS's Thursday Night NFL block, but that's just me.
  19. This was kind of surprising: http://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/preps/2014/07/18/beech-head-softball-coach-resigns/12853849/#_=_
  20. Stowe and Craighead are from Mt. Juliet; Mercer is from Ballard, KY.
  21. With Powell ending Knoxville Halls' season last night, despite Halls winning the 3-AAA regular season title, I'm now wanting a list of districts who give out automatic berths to Regionals to its regular season champion. I know 7-AAA gives out a berth, but it must be won outright. 9-AAA doesn't, 8-AAA doesn't, 3-AAA doesn't. Who else gives out (or doesn't give out) automatic berths to Regionals to its regular season champions? Thanks.
  22. Around this time last year, Limbaugh told me the 1 seed would get a first round bye, with 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, and 4 vs. 5. However, I've been hearing lately they might opt to go the play-in game route. They'll decide the format on Wednesday, too.
  23. They'll decide that next Wednesday at the district meeting.
  24. Yeah, I miss three-game series, too. There's been way too many splits this season, and looking at the list of tiebreakers David posted in another topic, if Riverdale and Siegel both end up at 9-3, they may end up going to the fifth tiebreaker on that list.
  25. Hendersonville won the Gold Division, beating Oakland in the championship. Not sure about the Silver.
