Talked to ol' Jimmy Maynord at the basketball game on Friday night. He confirmed that he went up to Lafayette to have lunch with his old friend Mark Pemberton. He did meet him at the school, and there were several coaches and players that saw him. He then was treated to lunch by Coach Pemberton. Can't friends even have some lunch without a bunch of gossip. He assured me that he wasn't going anywhere or retiring. He may have been lying, but I think Macon is just wishful thinking.

He is going to the Atlanta Nike Sparq Combine, the Georgia Scout.com Mvp combine, and the Nike Football Training Camp at Duke. That is what I have been told. I was told that he will attending several Senior to be camps also.

Not saying that he is the best in the state, but I think he is pretty good. Check out Gage Scurlock-Smith County HS Quarterback #4 I went on youtube and watched his video and it is impressive. Tell me what you guys think.

First time that I have ever been cussed on the T. Impressive. You know what they say about game managers. ESPN that is. They don't know crap either. You said it yourself, and have it all figured out. I guess the coach at SC, coaches in the district, and the coaches that voted @the Herald Citizen don't know as much as you. I really don't care who the QB is. My grandson has played a total of 5 snaps in two years, but I believe he is the best player on the team and should play QB too. That is because he is my grandson. Why do have so much interest in the situation unless your son is a qb?? Go Owls!!!!!!!

Dad, What do you feel is not settled, and what would you do different. Gage Scurlock was the District MVP, and was the Upper Cumberland Offensive POY, both of these were voted on people outside of SC. I personally feel that we are in good shape as far as the started goes. I just wonder about the backup situation and the situation for 2012!!! Give your opinions since I gave you mine.

I believe that SC had one timeout left!! East Literature had called the other one that left SC with one in hand.

I didn't mean to stop all the chatter. Just giving my honest opinion. Our program has been good because of good coaching. By getting the best out of the young men who give it all for SC. I can't think of many times that they were out-coached. A few, but not many. I think Manning's time will increase as we go.

Been a while!!!!!! Caught my first game of the year, Friday night. Don't you guys have enough confidence in our coaching staff???? One week we have one of the best, then now we are questioning things. I think this will take care of itself. I have caught two jv games thus far. In one game #25 looked average on the jv squad. In one game, against much inferior competition, he looked great. In time he will be great, how much time I don't know. We shall see. However, I think we have a great group of coaches. They will do what is best for the team!!!

How have they done it the last two years. We have done this in 2A the last 2 years. How was it done then????

It depends on seeding , and the year. Seeding is first, then its 2009=odd so the top part of the bracket will host.

I do believe that the higher seeded team will host no matter the year in the semi's unless there are two number one's. Then the year will matter! Just what I heard.

Well, I will say that the Hole looked better than I expected. If you read facebook and all the Gville crying you would think that SC bought 2 choppers to use randomly to dry the field. Having a younger player, I will say that the Owls are playing JV games weekly and the preseason was heavily devoted to the younger kids. With that being said, many young ones are getting to play. The ones that deserve to play are. CPA, you need to realize that out of the 80 about 40 of those are just happy to be wearing black and gold. Football players they are, but getting meaningful reps never. I thought last night that several more players played than usual. We are not world beaters by no means, but the Owls coaching staff does a great job of getting the best out of what they have. I have seen them turn boys into men!!!!!!!! A thriving private school we are not, but a public school with a big heart and hard working kids we are. The owls just may get on a roll, and surprise you. The owls have seemed to be able to be more balanced the last two weeks. Maybe even a little run heavy. Maybe just maybe both will start clicking before long and Owls will be the team that you want them to be. They are what they are, but they are my SC Owls. I am proud of them no matter what. 99% of them are playing their tales off and doing it the right way. I would of said 100%, but boys will be boys and they ain't perfect.

CPA, I don't know if SC is down or not. They kind of seem DR.Jekly/MR. Hyde. They can be very explosive, and they can look really bad. I think that they are lacking the homerun hitter. The player that can change the game on any play. They have good players, but I don't see any great ones. They work and play hard. It remains to be seen how good they will do in the playoffs. Each week will be a challenge. They will not ever walk on the field and the other team look at them and say well lets go home. It will be interesting. If the Westmoreland game mattered then I would say you are right. It was 9/11 and everthing that could go wrong did. However, I think it may have helped our bunch. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season unfolds. It will be fun to watch and cheer them on! Are you coming to homecoming this week??????

With rain in the forecast all week, what will the hole look like on Friday night. I was told that this last Friday it still had standing water on it. I hope the rain comes and goes so we can have a great night for homecoming. Wonder if the eagle @ ttu would like to be the homecoming king? Maynord might pull a few strings and pull it off again? I doubt it but sometimes there is no choice. Rain or shine/Carthage or Cookeville i will be there. Go Owls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who confirmed this? I have not heard that. I will say that the JV bunch looked good last night!! However, I will still say that the most of these boys are not ready for Friday night. They will be and will be ok, but still not ready.

Re: Red Boiling Springs football? I went to the game last night and all i head is how bad red boiling is.... Well i wasnt sure if i was watching the right team they looked pretty dang good with size and some athletes especially number 23 i am a smith county alumni and i coach for the middle school and i was very impressed if RBS wa... Either you do coach or you don't!!!! Which is it? If you do you should be trying to help build the program. If you don't then you can think what you want. I have my opinions too. However, I am not close enough to Coach Maynord to be able to tell what he thinks about freshmen. In a program that is established it is very hard for freshmen to come in and play!!!

I am looking forward to seeing how this team responds. The talk around the Jr. Pro game tonight was that they would just roll over and ride out the season. Leadership will be the key. It was absent on Friday night. The owls need to make the plays that they are supposed to, and maybe some that they are not supposed to. I am sitting and waiting to see the playmakers on this team. I watched them this summer at the passing league, I saw them at the scrimmages, I saw them verses Cheatam Co. Where have they gone?????????? GOT SCP? I think that is on a tshirt my grandson has. I think the question is relevant! Which team will show up?
