  1. What rules do "they" not enforce? And who is "they"?
  2. There's bigger things to worry about than this. Oh yeah, foot has to be completely out of the box unless you step on the plate. Step on the plate, contact the ball and your out.
  3. OK, say you have pristine batter's boxes when the game starts. The first batter wipes out one box and the second the other. What's the difference?
  4. If you have the coaches, let the catchers call the pitches.
  5. Nah, let the catchers call balls and strikes and the defensive players call fair/fouls, catch/no catch, safes/outs. That would be a lot better.
  6. A very impressive job done by a first year head coach and assistant coach, Colton Green and Andy Duncan. Both of these young men were literally THRUST into their positions and performed wonderfully. Congrats!
  7. Hixson take 6AA title, http://chattanoogan.com/2014/5/7/276030/Hixson-Blanks-Central-For-6-AA-Baseball.aspx.
  8. Boyd wins this in a breeze.
  9. Make it against the rules for coaches to call pitches. They delay the game and completely ruin the flow of the game. Coaches slow getting pitches to catchers, batters step out, start all over again. Let the catchers call the pitches.
  10. There is no such rule. However, common sense would tell you to do this.
  11. No, you don't get my point. The fans, players and umpires, are all emotionally involved in this game. Prior to the game, the host school should have developed a plan that would have allowed the umpires to leave the site with little or no interaction with the others. Emotions got the better of all involved, including one of the umpires. The exit plan would have avoided all of that. The really unfortunate thing is nothing will be done to improve this type of situation until something bad does happen. We all know people are people. Put a plan in place to avoid these problems.
  12. It's at Ooltewah. Maybe someone from there can post a schedule.
  13. At the very least, umpires have to have a safe exit provided by the host school from the playing field. I don't care how bad anyone thinks they are, this has to be provided to them at a minimum. If during their exit from the field during this game, they were met by unruly or potentially hostile fans, then the host school is at fault, completely. I don't care what either of the umpires said or did, they should not be subjected to this kind of behaivor ever.
  14. Chatt. Central is #8 in the AA State poll? Really?

  16. Ward's the only writer that covers local high school baseball. He can only write one story at a time.

  19. I think I could build you a dang good baseball field for $271,000!
  20. So throwing 146 pitches, overusing your arm, is going to cause you to NEVER BE ABLE TO USE YOUR ARM FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE? Lol, who's the idiot, pal? That's quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever read on here.
