  1. when we beat maryville in 2000, we were out gained in yards, and just about every aspect of the game except 3: big plays, turnovers, and the scoreboard. we made the plays when we had to, we didnt turn the ball over, and we won, 14-7. our defense ended up being the 3rd best in the state regardless of classification at the end of the year. we showed our "bend but dont break" defense early in the year, and that's how it ended up, w/us stopping 2A Mr Football on the 1/2 yard line w/ 19 seconds remaining. granted, we won the game on the scoreboard, which is all that matter; but we, alcoa, i no way "had our way" w/maryville. we made more big plays than them, that's why we won the game. you know your defense is playing great when you can get 3 first downs in a game and still win!!!
  2. the daily times has a roughly summarized article w/the team stats at the end. http://www.thedailytimes.com/sited/story/html/135181
  3. i thought Littleman Stewart played at East?
  4. i personally talked to desmond reliford today, and he assured me 100% that he is only 17 years old. jpats, stop trying to get crap started.
  5. Jeff Co schedule is wrong. They play Karns at home in place of Adamsville.
  6. jpats, once again, you're an idiot. if you're a jeff co fan/supportor/or whatever you are, why would you intentionally try to start rumors about the school you support? why try to get them in trouble w/bogus statements?
  7. jpats, i think you have nothing better to do than talk about middle school football, maryville's "weak" classes, and pretending you know stuff about football. if you're a jeff county fan, why would you get on here and "try" to start crap? keep sucking up to Mo' West's D, what scotter and jeff did in middle school, and doubting maryville.
  8. i talked to somebody the other day and they told me that Reid was going away from the spread and going to the I at Alcoa. Anybody know for sure? If it's true, he's just hurting his team TREMENDOUSLY. All the speed alcoa has, the spread is just what they need w/the good soph. QB returning.
  9. are they still going to run the wing-t?
  10. did i hear right when someone told me DB only has 3 offensive starters returning?

  13. there are team camps for football, you're head coach should know this and if interested, should try to send your team. great time for a team to gel together, bond, and become closer, so when the 4th quarter comes, you know you can trust each other to grind it out.
  14. Gov, my source (team chapalin is in the family), was told by various booster and other parents w/sources that reeves quit, gamble was going to alcoa w/reid, and 1 or 2 other coaches were quiting. The only ones staying (if all this is true) is garner and emert. anybody know for sure? if this happens, that just shows how immature some of our kids role models can act sometimes when the ball doesnt bounce the right way.
  15. rumor/fact/bs/possibility from my source very close to the WB program says that all but 2 coaches quit after they found out phelps got the job? anybody know for sure?
  16. rumor is that if phelps or reeves get the job, alot of the players are either transfering or not playing at all.
  17. Jefferson County Staff Scott Meadows-HC, QB Jim Hastings-DC Brimer-LB,T Watkins-G,C,DE Richie Marsh-DT,TE (former assistant to meadows at Alcoa) Jonathan Meschendorf-RB,secondary (former all state safety on meadows' state championship team at alcoa) coach ellison-WR, freshman coach and i know at least 2 more coaches are in the making of being hired, just dont know the names of them
  18. 5'8" 155lbs, benches 275, squats 440, power cleans 240. pound for pound the strongest person i've seen. lightning quick, but i hear CN isnt interested. wake forest, marshall, and MTSU are top 3.
  19. jim hastings is the new DC at Jeff Co. Former Elizabethton and Morristown East DC. Hastings also coached at Arkansas State and Morehead State. He's also written a book.
  20. i say they stay in house and go w/john reeves
  21. it really just depends on what kind of offense play you are running. Tackles in the wing-t basically do the same thing 85% of the time, block down. the other 15% if spent releasing to LB's. if you're running the guard trap, the tackle releases to the inside backer, playside guard releases to LB, center blocks back on the 1 technique, and backside guard traps the 3 technique. if you're running the buck sweep, the tackle, TE, and wingback block down and the playside and backside guards pull.
  22. im not an expert, but if you're playing a team that runs the 4-3, balance them up w/a 2 TE set and run it w/one back. University of Iowa Hawkeyes do a great job of running the zone play w/2 TE's.
