  1. Agree Accarp, the key if OS and Seymour meet is OS playing there fast paced ame that Seymour has difficulty playing. In a halfcourt game, Seymour has shown it can beat anyone keeping the scores very low. However, if the game gets fast look for 6'3 Brooke Johnson to have trouble staying up with the Lady Cats. If OS plays like it did in the 2nd Quarter last night, Seymour will have diffiuclty matching up with Laura Hall anc company running up and down the court in transition. If Seymour plays half court and utilizes Johnson, OS is in trouble with Seymour's height advantge. The higher scoring the game, the better chance OS has to win. The lower scoring game goes to Seymour's advantage. BTW Accarp, Seymour has won the last two games by a mere 3 points and 15 in last two meetings. That isn't dominanting. However, for any team to have a win, much less 2 in the last two years against OS is pretty good. If both teams advance, Look for a fantastic region championship game!
  2. After watching last night's games, OS really took it to Austin East in the 2nd quarter last night. Hall showed why she is possibly the best guard in the state, by scoring 15 points during that period as a close game became 15-17 cushion for the Lady Cats in a fast paced first half. Of Course, OS didn't play the entire game this way and conserved energy for Alcoa and possibly eyeying a Rematch with Seymour. Alcoa has three players averaging 14 pts per game or higher ( 2 averging 17 pts and 18 pts) so, this triple threat should pose a threat to the Lady Bobcats. However, once the high octance up and down pressing game of Oliver Springs get into effect ( look for it to happen in 2nd Qtr), the same result should happen again with OS opening a 10-120 point lead before halftime. 3. COngratulations to Beechboard! You are very deserving!
  4. You know, if you would have told me at the begining of the season this would happen, i would have imagined there would have been a huge backlash. However, all four were very deserving and the fact Laura had a subpar year in compared to scoring, assists, and steals compared to her Junior and sophomore seasons, I could see where people would construe these statistics as being her having a less than stellar year. A Late season injury hurt at the end of the year and dropped her scoring to 17 ppg. ( remember she averaged 22 last year). Also, losing to Seymour and Brooke Johnson at home hurt. Additionally, she went 1-1 against Livingtston Academy and Beechboard. However, what posters need to remember is that no player in Tn womens High School plays for the Big Game better than Laura Hall. She has averaged over 27 ppg against Jackson County, Livingston Academy, and Seymour ( the three teams with finalists) in her last 7 games against these teams during a three year span dating from her sophomore year. Last year in the 4th quarter alone against Seymour she scored 22 points. The Year before last, she almost recorded a triple double of 30 points 11 rebounds and 8 assists against the Eagles. My point, is LH is a bigtime player The Previous First Team AP ALL Tennessee PG and soon to be three time all state AA Player will come out of this OK and without question take her game to a new level with the goal fo leading OS to a state championship and end her storied high school career on a top of the mountain. That being said, COngratulations to the three finalists. All are very deserving and play for exceptional teams. Good luck to all three.
  5. OS is number one in the district for very good reason and ranked #5 in the state for even better reason. However, this is the toughest matchup for any AA state championship contender in the first round of the regions this year. Ask Westview( last years state runnerup) about 1st round matchups this year. Early exit.
  6. Smith County is playing some great basketball. Congrats and good luck against Cannon County and in the Regions.

No doubt, Brooke has some amazing numbers. Both Hall and Johnson have been nothing short of amazing when playing each other.

THis talk of Seymour beating Oliver Springs is very premature and amusing. Oliver Springs and Seymour have met twice in the regionals the last two years with one win each. THis year should be a very close game like the two previous years. Last Year, Seymour upset Oliver Springs to advance. Remember, OS has arguably the player in the state who plays at another level when going up against big time compeition. Seymour should be well aware this and not expect this to be an easy W. If that happens, chances are the Eagles are traveling to Upper East TN come substate time.
  9. Seymour still has to go through the Oliver Springs Bobcats in this Region and that is easier said than done. Behind arguably the best player int he state in Laura Hall, Oliver Springs can beat any team on any night behind a talented group of girls that have played in some huge games and a state tourney appereance in the last three years. As OS knows Brooke Johnson well, Seymour should know Laura Hall very well and what she is capable of in some of her past region perfromances that were nothing short of phenomenal. 30 points 8 assists 10 steals 6 rebounds ( soph year) WIN 29 points ( 22 in the 4th quarter) 4 assists 4 rebounds CLose Loss Should be a great region tourney and great game if OS and Seymour meet for the 3rd straight year.

A possible Oliver Springs vs. Seymour Regional Final looms Large. Think about this, OS has played Seymour the last 2 years in the Regions. OS and Seymour has won once with the winner advancing to the state tounrey. OS soon to be 3 time ALL state guard Laura Hall has battled Brooke Johnson in some of their best performeances. Against Johnson and Seymour in those two regionsal games, , Hall has averaged well over 30 points, close to 8 assists, and 8 rebounds. She scored 24 points in the 4th quarter alone last season as Seymour and OS played to a last second contest. If both teams advance to the Region CHampionship, Look for a phenomenal game like the two previous regional games of past.
  12. There is no question Laura Hall is AA MIss Basektball. Her cat like quickness and speed, lethel shooting, playmaking abilty, and slashing style, and dazzingl ball handling abilities makes her the most complete guard in the state. IF OS needs it, Laura Hall Delivers. The other three are phenomenal, but are closer to one or two deminsonal players unlike Hall who can do it all on the basektball court. If she needs to pass, Hall passes as her sophomore assists per game was over 7. If she needs to score, Laura scores as evidenced by here 23ppg las year. This year, Laura and OS have had a relatively easy district games, so her stats are down with minimal playing time compared to last year. In the big games, she shows up with vengence. Sophomore AA ALL STATE and led OS to state tourney Junior AA ALL STATE AP ALL Classifications ALL STATE ( top 5 player) Senior AA Miss Basektball? Again, all four would make amazing selections. The sad situation is one get left off when the nominations come out as only three make the cut. ALl four play on teams capable of winning the state chamionship, so maybe what teams advance the furthest should win the award.
  13. A Michelle Snow, Clarkrange Amazing PG leader. AA Laura Hall, Oliver Springs Plays the guard position at another speed. AAA Alex Fuller, Shelbyviille By far the most dominating post presence in TN. Other nominations AA Johnson, Seymour best post presence in AA. Beechboard, Livigston Academy Greaty all around athletic abilty. AAA Buley, South Doyle - Best girls athlete in the state that has SD program alive. McMahan, Heritage - Just a sophomore, but lethel.
  14. Goose Since OS plays in the small school division, have they played any schools from larger division? Cherokee? Roberstville? How would they stack up in large division? Thanks
  15. Glad to hear she will be OK. Goose, I have to admit that was scary reading your topic line before knowing the seriousness of the injury. Without Hall, winning by 14 points against a 4 loss Lady Bulldog team in Wartburg is a good victory against a formidable team.
  16. Sounds like McMinn Central just flat out got beat and is making excuses! Congratulations to Loudon on an impressive 4aa WIN.
  17. 1. Seymour 18-1 The AA Lady Eagles are on a roll. The Lady Eagles carrying the top spot might surpise some people, but until they play Heritage and Seveir County the Lady Eagles carry the top spot. Brooke Johnson might just come in and steal Miss Basektball away from the Hall and Beechboard in AA. 2. Powell 24-2 Even with a narrow loss at OR, the Lady Panthers are the real deal. Orin Egan is probably the most underated player in Tennessee next to Brooke Johnson. 3. Heritage 21-4 The Lady Montianeers are on a roll. Playing Seymour and Powell could put Heritage in the top spot. MacMahan is showing why she is one of the top 10 players in the country in the soph class. 4. Oak Ridge 23-4 The Lady Wildcats beat Powell Last week. If this team continues to gel, OR has the firepower to cut down the nets in MBORO. Keke Stewert, Like MacMahan is one of the better players in soph. class in country. 5. Seveir County 22-2 The Bearettes stumbled against Seymour and lost by 20 to Heritage. Losing like that drops you in the polls. However, this team could possibly still be the best in the state when on their game. 6. Oliver Springs 22-3 The Lady Cats are rolling in District AA. A huge clash against Harpeth Hall will be a difficult one in a couple weeks. This game is important since no district team has even been competitive this year. 7. South Doyle 17-7 The Lady Cherokees behind all eveything Sade Buley are winning games and knocking down some teams that had recently owned the SD in recent years. This team will be dangerous come district and region tourney time. 8. Pigeon Forge 18-5 This new program is making great strides. WIth a little luck, PG could make a substate appearence if they can knock off Elizabethton or Unicoi County in region Semifinals. 9. Morristown West 17-5 The Lady Trogans are having a great year that is under the radar screen. This team could advance to Substate. 10. Hancock County 17-2 Another team that is not getting ink for a good year. Possibly the best in A in East Tennessee. Others: Webb Wartburg Kingston Harriman Maryville Farragut Austin East Alcoa First Team Alll Knoxville at this point in the year. MVP is up for grabs with Johnson, Hall, MacMahan, and Buley the leaders. G Laura Hall 5-5 Oliver Springs Sr. G Cait MacMahan 5-6 Heritage Soph. F Sade Buley 5-11 South Doyle Sr. F Erin Ogan 6-0 Powell Jr. C Brooke Johnson 6-3 Seymour Sr. Second Team G Tina Broyhill 5-7 Seveir County Sr. G Kara Harris 5-5 Alcoa Sr. F Keke Stewert 5-11 Oak Ridge Soph. F Mellisa Uner 6-1 Sevier County Sr. C Kate Saddiq 6-5 Loudon Sr. Third Team G Jennifer Hendricks 5-8 Oak Ridge Sr. G Carmen Rainer 5-5 Alcoa Soph. F Tiffany Rodd 5-9 Clinton Jr. F Stephanie Holbrook 5-10 Oak Ridge Sr. C Catlin Ryan 6-3 Knox West Sr. This is probably one of the most talented groups to ever come out of Knoxville area in quite some time.
  18. 1. Livingston Academy 2. Seymour 3. Gibson County 4. Jackson County 5. McMinn Central Oliver Springs Westview, Tyner, Walker Valley, Upperman, David Lipscomb, Tellico Plains, Unicoi County AA is wide open this year with any of the above teams having a chance to win it with some great all around players that could propell their teams to the championship.
  19. The Mav If you check Oliver Springs record, the game counts. The Hall of Fame Games can either be counted or subtracted. A team like Oak Ridge who loss to Heritage has the class to count the game. It depends on the program. Then I guess you need to list Seymour's loss to McMinn Central at the start of the season. A loss that Seymour doesn't recgonize, but McMinn Central does. You know, the Same McMinn Central Team that Loss to Livingston Academy in the Greenville Christmas Classic. Additionally, Sevier County was blown out at home by a good Heritage by 20 points the next game after Seymour, so currently SC is nowhere in the top 25 teams in the country and merely a top 5- 10 AAA team at this point in the season with two double digit losses. Anything else?
  20. Try a Livingston Academy Scalp I assume you know who they are, right?
  21. 1. Powell 2. Seymour 3. Heritage 4. Sevier County 5. Oak Ridge 6. Oliver Springs 7. South Doyle 8. Maryville 9. Pigeon Forge 10. Wartburg Close Alcoa, Kingston, Austin East, Farragut, Webb On the rise Clinton and Oneida On the Decline Jefferon County and Loudon
  22. Just to touch base on one comment, parity exists among all teams in East Tennessee besides Seymour is simply funny. OS is clearly the favorite to advance to MBORO and has a great chance of cutting down the nets if they continue to play at their current pace. Yes OS lost to Seymour, but OS has beaten every other East Tennessee team and has some impressive victories that other AA teams in East Tennessee can only dream about this season.
