  1. Congrats to Stefanie Holbrook of Oak Ridge for breaking the Ohio Valley Conference record for three's in a game. She hit 10 3 balls tonight to lead Tennessee Tech to a defeat of Eastern Illinois, hitting 1 in the first half and 9 in the second half.
  2. Maybe she wanted to get in and play instantly. It's not like UTC and the SoCon is inferior to the other conferences, in fact, next year Beechboard will get a chance to shine against the possible defending national champs, the Lady Vols of UT. UT-Chattanooga made it to the final 32 teams in Division I, don't be surprised if they get much better with the importing of talent like Beechboard and Laura Hall. They should be contenders.
  3. Seymour 23, OS 20 at Halftime.
  4. Games Are On for tonight. Make sure and stop by to talk to a wonderful trainer from Tennessee Tech who will be sitting at the scorers table. Heard he's from Oliver Springs, he might be scouting if the Lady Bobcats go to the state tourney.
  5. Wow, that's poster board material right there. Don't be surprised if the OS bench gets involved as well. Hall can do as much damage with her passing, she knows how to be unselfish, and if you're going to put bodies on her, she'll get the ball where it needs to go.
  6. Sorry, I don't believe for one second that Rockwood is an underdog in this game. They've got a potent offense and a solid defense, which makes them a definite contender, and if Rockwood is such an underdog, then why are a lot of people picking them to win the game on this thread? Rockwood was never and will never be an underdog as long as they show up on the field. The Bobcats better not take them lightly or it could be the Tigers advancing to the next round.
  7. You expected it to be clean until Thursday? You must've been messed up in the head if you thought that the mudslinging wouldn't begin sooner than that. As for "", I'm pretty sure Coach Johnson doesn't condone anything of that matter. I hope this is a clean ballgame, but I don't see that happening at all. Too much bitterness between the two teams. Hopefully the refs will call a fair game and let the teams decide who advances. I want to pick Olive Springs to win, but the only way they will is if their Special Teams are vastly improved from Friday night, which I think they will be. OS-21,Rockwood-14.
  8. Daniel Mendez for "allegedly" kicking a Sequoyah player in the head, even thought eye-witnesses from both schools said it didn't happen at all.
  9. So CCHS, why the name anyways? We know you're from Rockwood, but you don't have the guts to support them with a name? Give me a break. You're a very bitter soul who has a lot of ghosts and demons in your closet, and it shames me that a Rockwood grad has nothing better to do with his time than come on here and slam a team that he obviously is denial of losing to when he played them. I think it's pretty disgusting that you continually bring OS down instead of bringing Rockwood up. On second thought, I wouldn't want to be recognized if I were you. I'm pretty sure you'd be disowned by Rockwood fans. I'd rather be an Oliver Springs "Punk" than a Rockwood "Fake".
  10. Wonderful, nothing like a little name dragging in the mud. Oliver Springs players are far from "punks", in fact I know several of them and most are upstanding students who go out and play hard, not dirty. I'm sorry that you feel the need to come on here to bash kids who go out and work their butts off to try and work towards a goal. I went to the game friday night, and heard no cheering during the injury. I highly doubt anyone would cheer an injury like that, and if anyone did, then they are hardly OS fans at all, hardly even football fans. For the record, OS fans are loud and rowdy, but far from rude and crude. They're very passionate about their teams, which is hardly a crime at all. Think what you will about OS, but please, don't drag their names down with ugly remarks. I proudly represent the the school and will stand by it as long as I'm alive.
  11. Looks like it's gonna be a good game Friday Night. If anyone knows about playing in the rain, it's the Bobcats. They seem to have rain follow them around everywhere when they play, and it would be no different at Rockwood. If it rains, it will definately hurt the speed that Rockwood has, as footing is a proble. This will give OS an advantage with the power running scheme, but if things are dry, Rockwood's speed could kill. Either way, it's going to be a good ole' Roane County Football Game. You gonna be there Big Collett?
  12. That's pretty funny, but I won't be there. Tech hosts Tennessee State on saturday, so I'll be up here in Cookeville working. Tell me how they do, how the running game's doing and how the defense looks. I'll be there next week though.
  13. Well, I figure you might need your ankles taped up sometime. Especially since I'm with the Golden Eagles now. I'm the only guy Head Trainer you ever had.
  14. You're right Big Collett. This team doesn't know about the pain and suffering that used to go on. I hope they can step up and take the Eagles down, but both you and I would agree that this game is going to be based on how well OS's backfield plays. I just hope they don't get caught up in all the hype they're getting again like they did against LC. Coach Johnson's running this team well, but when hasn't he done that? Probably one of the most underrated coaches in east tennessee.
  15. This is getting pretty pointless, it's boiled down to a 4th grade argument. If this game ever happens, let's discuss it then, but up until then, how about we let each team worry about the rest of the season and we'll go from there. Oliver Springs and Milan are both great teams, no doubt about that, but until I see them playing each other, it's going to be he said/she said wars on this matchup.
  16. name: Justin Gambrell age(optional): 19 school and graduate year: Oliver Springs High School, Class of 2002. occupation: Student / Athletic Trainer at Tennessee Technological University. favorite team: Oliver Springs Bobcats and Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles favorite moment following your team: 2002 win over South Greene in the playoffs, a heart-wrenching battle that came down to the very last play.
  17. I'll give the edge to Seymour because of the Mental issues from previous OS-Seymour meetings. Have any of the players seen it up close and personal? No, but they've no doubt heard about it or will. Oliver Springs needs to establish the run very early to set up the passing game against a good Seymour defense. The key will be the OS backfield in this one. If they get off to a good start, OS has a very good chance to win, but if not, the Eagles will take this one by a TD or two.
  18. Well, while I may not be Collett, I definately saw enough at the end of the 1st quarter when it was 28 to 0. Harriman was at best sloppy and didn't look motivated at all, in fact, they looked like they wanted to load up on the bus as soon as they got in the stadium. Usually Harriman at least has a little fire in them, but it seemed like the only time Harriman was in the game was last thursday. OS's special teams were good, missing Conrad hurt a little on consistency, but Chris Sutton stepped in and made a few extra points. The kid looks pretty good actually. It's hard to gauge the special teams against Harriman though, they didn't look motivated at all.
  19. I would think that every High School Football player's favorite away stadium would be in Murfreesboro, or it should be the one they want to be play in the most. Floyd stadium is a welcome sight for any athlete.
  20. You've got to love the media, always first to point out the bad that so many players do, yet don't point out the heroes of today's sports world. Take players like John Lynch, Tony Gonzalez and Peyton Manning who give their time to charities several times in the year. To say that we shouldn't look up to all athletes for a role model is over-doing it a bit. I always looked up to Boomer Esiason, and I think I've turned out alright. It's too bad guys like him and the others will never be recognize due to the ongoing fight for ratings.
  21. I think the OS fans are just gearing up for another Friday night where they'll support their team as much as possible. Don't blame OS fans for being boastful of a team that has potential. It's something a lot of people have been criticized for, maybe the reason high school sports has survived as long as it has is because of great fans who voice their support continuously.
  22. The Oliver Springs defense looked a little shaky, and having an exhausted D.J. Whalen on the field for most of the game probably didn't help either. They'll have to step up against a more matured Alcoa team that has plenty of weapons, it's a big game for OS, and if they can get out of these three away games with a record of 2 and 1, they'll be just fine. I'm sure Coach Johnson will have these boys prepared for the game next week, he always finds a way to.
  23. I heard Bradley Lambert's going to take the job, using unique computer programs to match-up with every team OS plays during the season. Give me a break. All this speculation is getting out of hand. It'll be a while before anyone is announced as the new coach, so let's all settle down.
  24. The pitcher for Oliver Springs against Rockwood was D.J. Whalen.
  25. The pitcher for Oliver Spring in that game was D.J. Whalen.
