  1. Yeah, I'd say it's time to call the dogs off. What a great way to start the season for the Rebs.
  2. Scoring summary thus far: 1st Qtr FHS - Mikrut 35 yard TD carry / Bell PAT FHS - Mikrut 22 yard TD pass to Hewitt / Bell PAT FHS - Pritchet 32 yard INT return for TD / Bell PAT 2nd Qtr FHS - Hewitt 80 yard punt return for TD / Bell PAT 3rd Qtr FHS - Mikrut 89 yard TD pass to Campbell / Bell PAT FHS - Hardemon 70 yard punt return for TD / Bell PAT
  3. I honestly didn't know if Bell would be successful... of course, I haven't seen him work much over the past year or so. Coach Gamble is something else I tell ya...
  4. No, Smyrna did not beat Brentwood two years ago. Those teams met the same night as Riverdale and Dickson County and I was in a car full of FHS Rebels who wanted to hear that Brentwood had been defeated. However, they had not and a couple weeks later Franklin ended Brentwood's 20 or so game winning streak. I'm going to merge these two threads together...
  5. Oh, come on... Huntington to Lincoln County can't be THAT long of a drive!
  6. You'd think being three years removed from Franklin High School, reading "REBELS! REBELS! REBELS!" wouldn't have so much of an impact... but man, the smile that came upon my face. Thank your dad for all of us here in CoachT land, 21. Hope the Rebs can keep this impressive performance up!
  7. And, one more thing. You're so high on Riverdale, right? Well, I am as well. They've got a great program over there. However, over the past three years, Riverdale is only 3-2 against Region 6. They've defeated Dickson County two of three times (though that one win was AT Riverdale... and, I have to ask, do we even include those three games since Dickson County is probably a bottom-feeder in your mind...). Brentwood defeated Riverdale in the state championship in 2002, and Riverdale defeated Franklin in 2004's BCB. So, what do you have to say about that?
  8. Good job, you found one error in my post. Ravenwood was the 3rd seed. Clarksville was the 4th seed. And thanks ftballkicker for confirming that and making me look stupid... Of course, this is coming from the same person who said that Riverdale had won two straight BCBs. So I'd much rather be wrong with playoff seeding than who won the freakin' Gold Ball. And what does Riverdale making the state championship so many years in a row have to do with Region 4 being strong? Again, I do not question the quality program at Riverdale. I do question the strength top-to-bottom of Region 4. And you say not to talk about the bottom feeders... I did not bring in former Region 6 bottom-feeders Henry County and Kenwood. Besides them though, you have to talk about everyone else. Centennial was a point away from the quarterfinals two years ago. Dickson County was one of the best teams in the state two years ago (and oh yeah, beat Riverdale at Riverdale). Ravenwood has been on the upswing since their start and proved it with their victory at Gallatin last year. Clarksville had one of the better QBs in the midstate last year and gave Region 6 another team to worry about. Brentwood and Franklin speak for themselves. So therefore, again I say over the past three season, Region 6 is the BEST region in the state in Class 5A. And what do you say about Region 6 having a record of 9-5 on Region 4 during those past three seasons?
  9. Hope everyone from Franktown has a great and safe drive down to The Pit tonight... GO REBELS!
  10. Consistently over the past 3 or so years, yes, Region 6-5A has been the best region in the state. I'm sure Dickson County High School doesn't enjoy you calling the region the "Williamson County district" or refering to us as rich boys. In fact, I don't appreciate that. Also, if you're going to make a point, please try to make it easily understood. It's quite hard to read and understand your post. Let me point out just a couple things that were incorrect about your post. The Brentwood/Smyrna contest was not the only matchup between Region 6 and Region 4. Franklin demolished Oakland and Riverdale defeated Dickson County. Ravenwood defeated Lavergne. Also, Ravenwood was the 4th seed out of Region 6-5A last year. I'm sure there are a few other mistakes I could point out. Again, I do not question the greatness that is Riverdale. However, looking from top to bottom, Region 6 (yes, they are regions in football - not districts) has been stronger the past few year. Honestly though, one only has to look at the record ON the field AGAINST each other, and Region 6 holds the upper hand with a record of 9 wins and 5 losses over the past three years.
  11. The excuse for several years was called being an EXPANSION team. In 2002-2003, there was no excuse. There was a late-season collapse. I don't think anyone made excuses and ownership payed back the money on the playoff pledge. In 2003-2004, the Predators took the President's Trophy winners to 6 games while St. Louis bowed out in 5 to San Jose so you can't really say anything about that. There is NO way that St. Louis finishes ahead of Nashville this year. My predictions for the Central this season: 1) Nashville 2-t) Detroit 2-t) Columbus 4-t) Chicago 4-t) St. Louis Again, I'm not 100% sure yet that Habby will bring Chicago out from the bottom so they might finish behind St. Louis. Detroit and Columbus are going to be pretty even I think. Foote is a big addition for the Blue Jackets. Dandy, you'll appreciate this. My asst manager at work is a Detroit fan. He comes beaming into the store today "I hope you've heard the great news!" I didn't know what he was talking about so I said no, I hadn't. "Well, the Red Wings signed Andy Delmore!" I of course laughed and replied that I didn't know who Andy Delmore was but I did know an An_y _elmore. He didn't get it! LOL!
  12. I think the problem is with fans who come into our building and act as if it is their own. The Predators come down here to Tampa in December, and I'll be there with my Preds' sweater on. However, I will politely watch the game and if/when we score I'll stand and applause. Beyond that though, I will respect the fact that I am in Tampa's arena.
  13. Well, the best coach at a small school (we'll have to see if he has success) in my opinion would have to be Giles County's Tim Johnson. He turned around a 5A program at Franklin, and I'm fairly confident he's going to have great success there as well.
  14. Woah woah woah... the world is about to stop turning because I'm going to defend dandy. I believe his original comments were intended to be generalized statements. I'm sure now that you've made it clear you're orginally from St. Louis, that he'll appologize for lumping you up in that bunch. Though, it is odd that you say you pull for the Preds whenever they're not playing St. Louis. Dude, we're in the same division. You shouldn't pull for Nashville at all. Also, it is not wrong of him to complain about Dead Wing and Blooser fans who fill the GEC. It is sickening to me as well. I'd rather be in a small crowd full of Pred fans than a sold-out GEC that's full of Red/White or Blue/Yellow. I have the same problem down here in Tampa. I've always been a Devil Rays fan for some reason, and it kills me when the Yanks come down here and it's the largest crowd of the year and they're all pulling for NY. But you show some ignorance in saying "they have Kariya and Legwand, whoopie." Umm, Steve Sullivan just signed a 4 year deal. There's that cat in the pipes, I think he just won a world championship. Tomas something. There's all of our young talent that will just keep on getting better (Hall, Erat, Hamhuis, among others). Just remember your "whoopie" comment when the Cup is parading down Broadway here within the next couple of years while they're trying to pick up the pieces in St. Louis. The Bloosers very well could finish last in the division with the moves everyone else has made (they'll battle with Chicago... haven't bought into Habbi making them an amazing team yet).
  15. Good ole RG making an apperance. Good to see ya round here again, but shouldn't you be at practice or something? Call me sometime when ya get a chance, let me know how it's going so far this fall. Though, you probably won't so I'll just call you.
  16. And on another note, what is LC's secondary like? With Franklin's offense going the way of the air this season once again after a year off, a team with a strong secondary will obviously have better success. Of course, if you're strong up front and can get to Mikrut fast, you'd have some success, too. So tell us about your D, LC fans.
  17. Did I mention I'm jealous y'all have a game to go watch Friday? I think I'm going to find a high school here in Sarasota to watch and follow. Y'all know I can't keep out of those Lights too long. On another note, WesVols picked the Rebels to win this game. Sorry, Falcon fans, the odds are against you now...
  18. I personally think the Tennessean does a great job with everything they else have to cover (Titans, Predators, Vanderbilt, Univ. of Tennessee). Only so much can fit into a certain amount of space. Then again, I'm from one of those evil 5A schools that you talk about and they give us a lot of press...
  19. A new year, same ole BigDogDaddy... people already telling him get ready to eat crow! Well, BDD hasn't had to eat much crow over the past three years, so for now I'll agree with his take on this week's game. He certainly knows his football, so let's hope he's somewhere close to right this week as I think he likely will be. I won't make a prediction though since I obviously haven't seen the Rebs at all this offseason, but again, I will go as far as to simply agree with BDD... GO REBS!
  20. I'll echo everyone else... what the heck is Ravenwood? I wouldn't have them higher than Franklin, but I wouldn't have Brentwood higher than Franklin either. Oh well...
  21. Well, I never post a game thread before the Saturday of the week prior so here we are, just a tad bit late. Sorry. Thought this would be a more interesting poll question than about who will win (see The Big Ones for that). I'm leaning towards unsure and/or no, that the lack of Coach J will change this game much. It has been the past few years a great, exciting start to the season for both teams. Back to the Pit this year... let's hope the weather stays out of it! And man, I'm jealous of EVERY single one of y'all that will be in Lincoln County Friday night. Thoughts... predictions... whatever, let's have it! And of course, GO REBELS! (And good health to the Falcons, right BDD?)
  22. The loss of someone so young is always so very tragic. Words can't express the amount of sympathy (and empathy) I have for those of you in Seiver County this early morning. A prayer will definitely be lifted up for him and his family. May God bless y'all and provide y'all with some comfort in this hard time.
  23. You should submit this as a letter to the editor of any and every publication you can think of... again, it is beautiful. Thanks for reposting it, friend.
  24. Before posting a topic, please do a quick check to see if there already exists a topic on the subject that you would like to discuss. This will prevent clutter on the board and make topics much easier to find. As the start of the season nears, this will become more and more of a problem that can easily be avoided. Thank you for your cooperation.
  25. Naturally as a Sooner fan, I loved seeing Jason in Titan blue. However, cavey is right. When your body won't let you do it, it's best to get out. To stay in it, not being able to give it your all not only is hurting you but your team as well. A great move be Jason White!
