  1. Good luck, Lady Raiders. I'm pulling for you. Keep district 8AAA alive and make us proud. I know you will win (or lose) with class--no matter what because you are a class act. A special "GOOD LUCK WISH" to seniors Brittany Sain and Shayna Fleenor. Pitching, hitting and defense WIN!
  2. After last night's decisive win by Tullahoma over Coffee County 7-1, I'm bringing this post to the top. Whitney D. hit a 3-run homer. How could the coaches not make this awesome player MVP of the district and tournament? I know that the all star awards will never be fair because of selfishness and politics, but surely they can do better than this! Anyway, congratulations Tullahoma, and I hope you get to the Spring Fling and win it! I look forward to seeing more of Whitney, Bri, and Jessica in summer ball. Pitching, hitting, and defense WIN!
  3. While Newman has helped Shelbyville tremendously this year and is a great gal, I don't think she'll get MVP--probably All District though. Whitney Darlington has played FOUR years of awesome softball for Tullahoma, and she is the obvious best choice for MVP. This is just my opinion--who knows what will happen. Good Luck Whit, and I think YOU'RE THE GREATEST! I posted the above recently to the 8AAA All District thread. Now I hear that Ashley Newman did get MVP. I am extremely disappointed (but not at all surprised!) in the district coaches for giving a one year player this award. No offense to Ashley--she's a decent player. The MVP should be a DEDICATED softball player and should play at least 3 years. As in the past couple of years, some of the coaches' choices (or lack thereof) for all district awards really downplay those who are selected who are truly deserving. Congratulations to all those named All District and especially to Jillian King, catcher and Courtney Smith, shortstop for the Shelbyville Eaglettes. Keep up the great work you're doing for your team. 8AAA

Shelbyville has 4 seniors: Jennifer Steagall - 4 yrs. Jennifer Nichols - 3 yrs. Ashley Newman - 1 yr. Samantha Houston - 1 yr. Best of luck to these four ladies and to all of the graduating seniors of 8AAA softball! Pitching, hitting, and defense WIN!
  5. What was the result of the 7:00 Shelbyville-Tullahoma game? Pitching, hitting and defense WIN!

  7. Congratulations to the Lady Raiders--keep up the hard work. Did Falon and Krystle get hurt in the game, or did you mean they might be sore from pitching? I see that Oakland plays Soddy Daisy in the sub-state. Who does Coffee Co. play on Friday and where?
  8. I'm so glad the last 3 teams left are the top 3 in the district. Anything could happen today. All three teams are very competitive and any 2 will represent district 8AAA well. GOOD LUCK SHELBYVILLE EAGLETTES! ____________________ Phdwin Pitching (catching), hitting, defense WIN!!
  9. Shelbyville 4 Lincoln Co. 3 10 innings--Corey Curlee rips a double in the bottom of the 10th to win. Coffee Co. 6 Tullahoma 0 --Game still going on--this is the last score I heard. Falon pitching a great game. _______________________ Phdwin: Pitching (catching), hitting, defense WIN
  10. Yes -- Cannon Blvd. is Hwy. 231/431 coming into Shelbyville from the south. There is a bridge crossing the Duck River and a dam on the right. The flood gate just past the bridge is closed, and traffic is blocked off. You'll be fine if you come in by Flat Creek or 41A.
  11. For folks coming to Shelbyville from Lincoln Co., the best way to come is through Lynchburg and Flat Creek because Cannon Blvd. is closed. Columbia and Lawrence Co. fans should come by Henry Horton over to 41A. Everyone drive safely! _____________________________ Pitching (catching), hitting, and defense win!!!
  12. District 8AAA seeds are 1-Coffee Co., 2-Tullahoma, 3-Shelbyville, 4-Columbia, 5-Lincoln Co., 6-Franklin Co. or Lawrence Co. Friday (or Sat. if FC/LC game is rained out) night's games are Columbia vs. Lincoln Co. and Shelbyville vs. winner of FC/LC. Then Sat. Tullahoma plays the Columbia/Lincoln Co. winner, and Coffee Co. plays the Shelbyville/FC-LC winner. This is from information found in the Columbia newspaper http://www.columbiadailyherald.com/display/inn_sports/sports4.txt. Does anyone know about the Franklin Co./Lawrence Co. game?
  13. Take 41A most of the way through Shelbyville headed toward Tullahoma. At the second light after the Kroger (on left) turn left (at Union Planters bank branch). Take a right at the four-way stop with railroad tracks. Softball and baseball fields are just past the school on the right.
  14. Why are they cancelling the tournament so soon? The rain is supposed to be over and sunshine Friday until next Thursday. The fields should be dried out by Friday afternoon.
  15. Tues. - @ Shelbyville vs Franklin (District Game) Wed. - @ Shelbyville vs Oakland Thurs.- Shelbyville @ Columbia (District Game) No reschedule dates yet!
  16. Sball4 is correct--the umping was totally one-sided. We are still waiting for a specific instance when any call was against LC. Since there has been no response, there obviously was never such an instance. LOL! STINGER is also correct that the better team prevailed. With the lousy officiating, the victory was especially sweet for SCHS Eaglettes as the 9 girls playing had to beat LC's 9 plus the two umps for 11 total players. Lincoln County is not the only place Shelbyville gets unfair officiating. It follows us everywhere---even at home. Apparently, people in the district are jealous of our girl's basketball program and try to take it out on the softball team. WELL THE SOFTBALL TEAM WILL NOT TAKE IT AND WILL PREVAIL ANYWAY--so you umps should start calling games fairly and quit cheating for Shelbyville's opponents. I think it's pitiful to treat children this way; they just want to play ball in a FAIR game
  17. IllPete, Have you checked into becoming a student resource officer? This seems to fit your interests. Most large public high schools have at least one SRO, who deals with fights, drug posession, smoking, etc. and The SRO at our high school is an assistant football coach. I don't know what the educational requirements are--you might check it out.

    pump up songs

Obviously some of the girls like to get "pumped up" by music before and even during games. How about telling us what songs you like to listen to get "pumped up". I'm thinking about making a CD.

    shortstops

Whitney Darlington from Tullahoma would have to get my vote in 8AAA. I understand CC has moved a quality player to SS this year but until I see her play SS Whitney is it. She has great range hard to get one by her and has a big stick.

    Catchers

I believe Corey Curlee of Shelbyville Central deserves a mention here. She has a great arm, calls the pitches very well, and adds a very strong bat. She had never hit a homer until this fall when she knocked two over in one game. She batted about .430 last spring. Along with the pitching of Toni Jensen and the defense and hitting of a couple of other seniors, as well as some freshman talent (including a backup catcher and pitcher) I think Shelbyville will surprise a lot of folks this year. KEEP UP THE HARD WORK, COREY--IT WILL PAY OFF SOON!!! Go Eaglettes--Basketball's not all that's happening in Shelbyville.
  21. JT, Who is the contact for the Columbia Fall league? Please give a phone number or email. This sounds like it will be competitive and have lots of teams. Thanks. [Edited by Phdwin on 6/26/02 10:19A]
  22. Where does this team practice? Daughter, 17 in April very interested--many years of experience, named All District, has played 1st, 3rd, and catcher and is a strong batter. I wanted to know if the team is in commuting distance.
