  1. To answer your questions - Scoring for the South Fulton game on Monday - S'town lost 60-44 Emily Franks - 13 Megan Corbin - 11 Tamia Tucker and Mallory Scott - 8 each Brittany Lovett - 4 The girls played hard, but you could tell we didn't have our legs under us. Combination of the 3.5 hour drive and the after-effects of weights & plyos on Sunday. Scoring against Dresden on Tuesday - S'town won 49-46. Brittany Lovett - 14 Beth Long - 11 (incl. 3 treys) Mallory Scott - 8 Emily Franks - 7 Megan Corbin - 6 Jessica Tucker - 3 Team played much better defense in the Dresden game. You could tell the girls felt better - and hence played better. As for the question about the coaching staff - no comment.
  2. The Lady Eagles took a 49-46 win over Dresden this afternoon in the Obion Co. Classic. Dresden led 35-30 at the end of the third period, but the Lady Eagles stepped it up to ouscore Dresden 19-11 in the 4th period - led by Brittany Lovett with 11 4th qtr points - including 6/6 from the free throw line. Great job Lady Eagles !!!
  3. Score 3 - What kind of statement is "if Corbin hadn't played it wouldn't have been close " ????? The same could be said that if Cross or L. Stone hadn't played, it wouldn't have been close - with Loretto on the short end. If I were you, I'd be worried that the Lady Eagles were missing 2 starters (one of which (Lovett) is the primary ball handler and averaging better than 15 pts a game) and you were only able to beat us by 4. I'll grant you that the Lady Mustangs are a good bunch - I've known that since these girls were in the 4th grade and we were playing each other. But based on what they showed tonight, I wouldn't be making any reservations for the 'boro, as many seem to think they are destined this year.
  4. Brittany Lovett and Jessica Tucker did not play. This made the young Lady Eagles team even younger. At one point in the game the Lady Eagles had one senior (Corbin) and 4 freshmen (Franks, Tamia Tucker, Walker & Peterson) on the floor at one time. The Lady Eagles played a great second half. 14 turnovers in the first half and bad free throw shooting in the first half cost them down the stretch. The gave the Lady Mustangs all they wanted - if the Stone had not been hot from 3-land, the outcome would have been different. Great game Lady Eagles.
  5. Summertown was missing 2 Junior starters (Lovett - flu / Tucker - allergic reaction), so an already young team was even younger. MP did play a good game though & almost pulled it off. The officiating was horrible - on both sides and in both the boys' & girls' games. Moffet/TSSAA doesn't care though, they just keep sending the A schools the bottom of the barrel. Looks even bleaker for tonight - as we face Loretto. Lovett & Tucker are both still out and another starter went home from school yesterday sick. I understand she is going to try to play, but you know she will likely be weak. May make for a long night with 1 senior, 1.5 sophomores and 5 Freshmen against the Lady Mustangs - I know how good they can be, we've been playing them since the 4th Grade. Go LADY EAGLES !!!
  6. Lawrenceburg can keep the LCHS initials, if the want to. The name should just be Lawrenceburg Central High School. They do not represent the majority of Lawrence County and should not carry the county name. As for the previous post stating that it is the school to be the most proud of, I beg to differ. With the exception of a couple of girls basketball teams in the last 6 years (not this year), LCHS has never had it in any sport and never will.
  7. Probably shouldn't be ranked #5, at least this early in the season. A squad with only 1 senior, 2 juniors, 2 sophs & 5 freshmen. Play baseline to baseline defense and put alot of pressure on the ball. Have some consistent 3-point shooters and a respectable inside game. Will likely surprise some folks since they are so young.
  8. Pageman - the Summertown player is Emily Franks - not Banks. Keep that name in your notebook - you'll be hearing things from her in the future (just a Freshman).
  9. I've got a feeling that the Little Man is so upset by being 0-2 that Wild may get caught in the S-ville wrath and see a repeat of LCHS's season-ending game of 2002-2003.
  10. Golf Cat - obviously some of the replies did not understand your orignal post - since they are talking about loading teams with out of County players. All of the players you named are Lawrence Co. natives, they are just split between 3 teams, LCHS, Loretto and Summertown. I agree that if all 3 teams were combined you could have as good, or better, program than Shelbyville. However, its a pipe dream to think it would ever happen - and it has nothing to do with parents. First, LCHS despite the opinions of those who have just started following the Lady Cats in the past 5 years, LCHS does not have a rich tradition, by any stretch of the imagination. Sure, there have been some good players come out over the years, but the 1998 State Championship team was the only bunch that has had real talent - you can thank Katie Smith, Wendy Hartsfield, Brandy Bean and Mel Saxson for that one - and their AAU coaches that they played with since they were 8-10 years old. The biggest reason LCHS struggles in Basketball, Football, etc, is that it is, without a doubt, the most political community in the State - that is the whole reason Wild was even brought in - a group of parents thought he could re-invent the program. If you have followed the Wild odessey very much, you will realize he has only chased talent - not developed it. Second, none of the Loretto or Summertown players have any desire to play for LCHS, in fact they despise the Lady Cats. For the most part, the local media (radio, newspapers, etc) ignore the Summertown and Loretto programs - despite their much deeper traditions in Basketball.
  11. Summertown's Jr. High Lady Eagles are undefeated - including a win over E.O. Coffman.

  14. Can anyone provide information on the Obion County Central Christmas Tournament ? What teams are committed and what are the exact dates ? Thanks - EagleClaw
  15. Huddleston - a wealth of knowledge ? Get real - If he is a wealth of knowledge, he must have found a bag of it on the side of Hwy 64 as he ran from Wayne Co. to Lawrenceburg.
  16. NEVER SEEN HOOSIERS!! I CANT BELIEVE IT...I THOUGH EVERY BBALL FAN/PLAYER OR W/E YOU MIGHT BE HAS SEEN IT
  17. 24griff, your prediction wasn't off too bad - 70-63, but it was S'town on top.
  18. NCS can't contain S'town. NCS isn't big enough to stop the inside game and can't guard all of S'town's 3-ball shooters.
  19. The Eagles play Wayne Co. @ 9:00 PM
  20. I was there for the S'town girls' game & only saw the first 3-4 minutes of the boys game. The first several posessions were swapping baskets & threes. What I did see was that Wayne Co. was doing a good job of keeping Holt out of the pait. I'm glad to hear that Wayne Co. pulled it out - I guess it will be a Wayne Co., S'town battle in both of the late games Wed. night. Too bad we can't play it closer to home just send the gate money to Eagleville !!!!
  21. First, this was a classic High School game. As one of the previous posts stated - "right out of Hoosiers". Both teams played their hearts out & both coaches did a great job. As for the call at the end, it is the perfect example of the officials we see today. In an attempt to keep a game under control, the officials instead end up controlling the game. Perry County had a chance to go up on a free throw with 5.5 seconds to play, but missed it. Summertown inbounded the ball, and the ball handler was literally "raped" by 2 Perry County players at mid-court, then was whistled for a pushing foul on the PC player's desperation shot, giving PC 3 shots and the win. As one of Perry County's fans told me - "any official with any sense does not call a foul on the "steal" and he sure as ____ doesn't call a foul on the shot". Unfortunately for Summertown, the official ignored the first foul, but called the second. If the official is going to swallow his whistle on the first foul, then he should have also ignored the second foul and allowed the game to go into overtime. This is no way to decide a game - unfortunatley, this is the best one can expect from the TSSAA. After all, the TSSAA is an organization that is ruled by money & the Carter/Moffet good-ole-boy network, rather than the professionalism that should be displayed in high school sports.
