  1. probably the main reason i can say that ca lost to zion was b/c it was the 1st game after their starting keeper broke his collar bone and really didnt know how to play without him, but also yes they were over confident. I doubt it will happen again though
  2. I heard he went to CA to look at attending there next season, he would have had to sit out a year. I will say this, with him and the other 2 players from Central that I heard Mt. P might be getting, Mt. P will not only win the region - I'd say they will probably be playing in M'boro and should win it.
  3. just cuz they beat yall 2 outta 3 last year or what?
  4. Should be a good game. Both teams have been scoring about the same and giving up about the same. Huntland will win though, two things they have going for them: Home Field and Rain. Those two things gives the Hornets the edge I think.
  5. They may have had 29 on the roster but they had 2 out with injuries, 2 no longer play, they have 3 transfers that are not eligible this season, and one is nothing but the kicker because he plays golf. They did pick up 2 8th graders that came out and they played on defense, but they don't know anything about the offense. Like I said before, they have to move players around if they have injuries. Their back-up QB is #7 Rector. Either way a starter would be playing and risking injury. The two boys who no longer play were skill players that played in earlier games. I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just trying to let you know that they don't have the subs that most teams do. Look at what happened in the Forrest game the first game of the year. They had 4 people get hurt during the game and they just don't have anybody else to take their spots.
  6. CA doesn't have the players the other teams have in regards to numbers. They only dress out about 20 - 22 players on Fridays. They only have 7 offensive linemen total. They put in subs on defense earlier, but they don't have the players to sub on offense at certain positions without moving players already on the field around. They don't have enough for a 2nd or 3rd string like Mt. Pleasant. Don't think it had anything to do with showing class. I will give Mt. Pleasant's Coach Smith props he called off the dogs early and has every time he has had the chance this year. Congrats to Mt. Pleasant on another dominant region championship. They had a great crowd there Friday night. If I recall about 4 or 5 years ago they didn't have 50 people in the stands. Guess everyone likes it win you Win!!!
  7. How many times did Daily carry the ball against Collinwood? How many TD's did Daily score against them? I know Mt. Pleasant beat them but don't know any stats. I'm just saying if he gets loose he is GONE!!!! Nobody, including Collinwood who has some GREAT athletes, can match him if he gets loose. (Remember he is also a Junior, so he will return again next season)
  8. Mt. Pleasant wins big this week. CA's defense will not be able to tackle and stop Daily. He is just too good. Mt. Pleasant could score as many as they want if they let Daily run the ball. (On any region 6A team) Daily runs the ball when he has to and makes big things happen. He has a great line, the biggest in region 6A. This game will be different than alot of people think. Mt. Pleasant has won the region championship again, and other than the fact it is against CA, I don't see them risking getting Daily hurt for the play-offs like Whitaker did last year. Daily will play enough to beat the bulldogs and remain undefeated in region 6A. CA also has to win the next week against Huntland to make the play-offs so I don't see them making a big deal out of this game, everyone knows Mt. Pleasant is by far the better team.
  9. Huntland has WC, Collinwood, Zion, Cornersville, and CA (They should win all but the Collinwood game) CA has Zion, Cornersville, MP, and Huntland (They should win the first 2, but will probably lose the last 2 games) Perry Co has Moore Co., Wayne Co., Riverside, Collinwood, and Zion (They will win 3 of those) Wayne Co. has Huntland, Moore Co, Perry Co., Trinity Christian, Collinwood (They will win one of those) My prediction: 1st place / 2nd place - Collinwood / MP (Tough call) 3rd place - Huntland 4th place - Perry Co. 5th place - CA 6th place - WC 7th place - MC 8th place - Cornersville 9th place - Zion
  10. You talk about CA and Sportsmanship. I was at the game and thought both teams played hard. The only truely unsportsmanlike thing I saw from both teams was when the QB from CA spiked the ball out of bounds on 4th down. He did it solely out of frustration it looked like to me with his line and their protection. As for the officials. TN officials are not very good, PERIOD. The officials had nothing to do with the outcome of this game. Collinwood controlled the line on scrimmage on both sides of the ball and that was the main difference. Collinwood has a very good team this year and should give MP all they want this week. I'm just tired of people talking about CA and sportsmanship. I've been to ball games that they have had some very bad examples of sportsmanship, but last Friday night was not one of them. I've been to Collinwood games where they have shown bad sportsmanship, but last Friday night was not one of them.
  11. Next week is the big game. MP vs. Collinwood. Who do you think will win? Both teams are putting up BIG numbers on their opponents and will enter the game with undefeated region records. I know Collinwood is looking for revenge from last seasons loss to MP.
  12. Perry County is a much improved team from last year. Their offense will give CA fits. How do you stop that offense? Unbalanced - Single Wing. That offense alone will win the game for Perry Co. since nobody can stop it. Perry Co. has too many seniors and juniors for the young CA team to handle. CA has gotten better since week one, but not good enoungh. Heard a rummor about one of the Perry Co. coaches and players? Did one of their coaches get fired, resign, suspended, etc.? Like I said I heard it second hand so may not be any truth to it, just curious?
  13. He is a professional doctor. He was asked his opinion, he didn't give it without being asked. For the record, he sat two players from CA this past week for head injuries. One of them had come around by half-time, he had a mild concussion. He recomended they not play, so that is what happened. Football is about more than a "W". Fans from Collinwood if nobody else should know that from the past. Safety should be of the upmost importance. As far as CA and sportsmanship, I have been to alot of events and every team has players and parents who have their moment with inappropriate behavior. If everyone would take care of themselves and not be so quick to point the finger, we would probably all see we could work on this area.
  14. Columbia Academy loses to Forrest by 14+. CA lost a lot of talent last year, and Forrest has just about everyone back. Forrest looked really good in their Jamboree last Saturday. I heard CA will only dress out about 22 players Friday, Forrest has about 40 - 50 out. Shouldn't be much of a game.
  15. What time does it begin? Does anyone have the times for each team?
  16. Who is Forrest scrimmaging this year? Are they playing in the Marshall Co. Jamb.? Are they still having their own Jam.?
  17. Columbia Central will have a hard time competing until they get new facilities. The facilities in Maury County as a whole are "BAD". It's hard to compete at the 5A level when your facilities are that bad, and most of the schools you compete against have newer schools with great facilities. Coach Belew will be ok and his staff is pretty good with the exception of a few coaches. I do believe they need to look at their defense. They don't have the size / strength to run the 50. The city of Columbia as a whole has a drug / drinking problem. It's hard to have discipline when the ONLY discipline some of them get is at athletics / school. In my opinion, the major difference between why the Jr. high wins and the Sr. high doesn't is scheduling and the fact that the Jr. high players can't drive yet so they aren't tempeted as much Not To Play.
  18. I heard that the teaching positions in Wayne Co. are the hold up on the hiring of a coach. I heard some want Rice back, while others don't. I also heard Coach Rice may be going somewhere else as an assistant with his boys. Is Collinwood and Wayne Co. under the same school board?
  19. If you notice, I said that Coach Smith has super job. I think that is giving Coach Smith a little credit. All I was saying was that they have and continue to have better athletes than everybody in the region, so they should win or compete for the championship year end and year out. Also in regards to Region 6 being the toughest region in 1A top to bottom, in some ways I would have to agree. I don't think they usually have the best team in the state, (Has anyone other than Moore County even gone to the clinic bowl from Region 6) but they always seem to have at least 5 teams every year with winning records (one usually doesn't make the play-offs) and several of the schools have made the play-offs in the past. Having said that I will go on to say that this region will be WAY DOWN this season. Therefore Mt. Pleasant should have no problem winning the region with their "athletes".
  20. When you have one of the biggest schools in the region by enrollment, and you have ATHLETES you should win. Mt. Pleasant (349), Wayne Co. (349), Perry Co. (332), and Collinwood (324) should dominate Cornersville (264), Moore Co. (261), and most definitely CA (217) and Zion (?) Mt. Pleasant should be winning more than just the region with the athletes they have had, and they should be winning the region EVERY YEAR, like they have the past 2 seasons. Coach Smith has done a super job, but with their athletes, they should be winning - Plain and simple. Some things should be a given. Next year Mt. Pleasant winning the region should be a given, nobody should be able to stop their back (Daily). Teams couldn't stop him this year, and I don't see anybody being any better than last season with the exception of probably Cornersville, and they will be NO MATCH with his speed.
  21. My Prediction: 1. Mt. Pleasant - Hands down the favorite with Daily Returning 2. Collinwood - Coaching will win them games 3. Wayne County - There Jr. High has been very good the past few years 4. Cornersville - Suprise team of next season 5. Moore County - Unless players have quit 6. Huntland 7. Perry County 8. CA 9. Zion

    Region 6 A

This will be a great region to watch all year. My predition: 1. Mt. Pleasant 2. Moore Co. 3. Huntland 4. Collinwood 5. Wayne Co. 6. Perry Co. 7. CA 8. Cornersville 9. Zion Let us know who the main players to watch for each team are this season, what key players were lost from last season, and what each teams strength and weaknesses are for the upcoming season.
  23. Who are key returners for each team? How many seniors did each team loose? Who do you think will be the top contenders? Who were some of the major loses to graduation?
  24. I heard region 6-A next season will be: Collinwood WC PC MP Zion CA MC Cornersville Huntland Cascade and Forrest moving to Nashville region. Eagleville is moving towards some other region northeast. That will put 9 teams in 6-A and 9 to 10 teams in the Nashville region. Sounds like we are still going to have 2-8 / 1-9 teams in play-offs. They want to talk about travel, how far is the trip from Huntland to Collinwood, PC, WC?
  25. Congradulations to MP on a great season so far. I was just wondering how many seniors MP has on this years team? I know they have a lot of Sr. and Jr., I also would guess that they have plenty of athletes in younger grades also - like the young RB who has seen alot of action. Give us some information on the FUTURE of MP football, it is definetly going in the right direction after last season and their success this year.
