  1. Corntown has a nice young stable of backs. If their line can maintain blocks to give them a crease, i'll take the Bulldogs.
  2. Riverside may be much improved this year. However, the big question is can they play together like a team? In years passed they have been able to pass the eye test but never seemed to play as one group.
  3. First off I am glad to see the Vikings beginning to have some success and most of all being competitive, they deserve it.Coach Frost has been an acquaintance of mine for years and is a fine individual. He had no assistant coaches on staff the first years of the program. He had to make do with volunteer coaches who may or may not have been at practice every day. As we all know head coaches are only as good as their assistants. The last couple of years the administration has been willing to hire teachers that can also coach, more coaches in the building always helps get more kids excited and involved in the program. I believe he told me they now have 3 coaches in the building plus himself. Kids are also starting to stay at Community and not jump ship to other schools, this will most definitaly help the program. If thoes who were supose to be their had stayed through the tough times they would probably been better faster. Nevertheless Frost has stayed the course and you must respect him for that. Now that the administration is on board I think great things are in store in the near future for the Vikings. Best wishes and good luck to all of thoes involved in the building of the Community football program, its not an easy task.
  4. Well good luck to the Cascade kids and the coaching staff. Champion11 to say the kids quit working at the end of the year is a pretty bold statement. Thats great fan support your son must be so proud to know his dad thinks his team is a much of quiters that dont work hard!! They went 9-2 and then went 10-2 and lost to a good JB team both years if I recall correctly. Seems like they had pretty good seasons for a team that just quits working. As for eagleville being ranked just look who they have on their staff and look at what Cascade lost last year, 15 plust seniors. Well good look to the champions friday night.
  5. Is it the BGA assistant or the Riverdale assistant? I have heard both from the MC community. Did this one actually take the job?
  6. With all due respect, dont believe its Flatt you should be thanking. He showed interest, made some request, and MC bentover backwards. It seems to me that MC put all their eggs in one basket and they all cracked. Believe they may have dropped the ball on this one. You are correct they will have to let whoever they hire in coach his way, cant continue to live in the past.
  7. Dont most head coaches start as assitants. Parker is the head coach not a dictator and has done a good job with the program no one is argueing that, but he has/had great assistants as well, Edwards, Austin, Richardson, Carcuff, Searcy, C. Parker, and Frost(HC now) thats why its called a coaching staff. Beleive they where voted assistant staff of the year in 5A. Great head coaches surround themselves with great assistants if they want to build a program and they trust their assistants to coach. Seen Cascade play and Parker lets his guys coach.
  8. If its going to be a couple more weeks, do they have another candidate in mind or are they going to open it back up to new applications? They need to get it done soon the kids need someone to follow.
  9. Who are the candidates that are left?
  10. Who are the candidates that are left? Are they still using the pool from before or has more coaches put in for it? I would agree, a young, enthusiastic coach may be whats needed.
  11. Will the new head coach be named this week? Or will this guy dump MC too.
  12. Have they officially named the new coach yet? If not, when are they planning on doing so?
  13. How many years has he been the head coach at Hickman Co.? Has he been head coach any where else?
  14. Has Been moved to 6:30.
  15. Andy has great ideas about what to do with the Dragons, the biggest problem being the stale and unmotivated assistants. Andy has never been a loser and will turn the Dragons around with some fresh blood and hard working assistants. I feel he needs to search the state for quality and bring some people in with his energy and attitude towards winning football games , but most importantly creating fine young men. Are there any coaches avaliable that had intrest in the job before Andy took it, that would be willing to be an assistant to help Clinton get where they need to be. If they had intrest in Clinton maybe they would want to be apart of something bigger. A head coach is only as good as his assistants. You can't have too many great coaching minds working together. Please get the Dragons turned around !!
  16. First off this game should live up to it's hype. I have been associated with Region 6 for years, with this year being my first taste of the new Region 5. With that being said , this years JoByrns team is as good as last years Mt. Pleasant team. I'm not quite sure that this years Mt. Pleasant team is as good as last years. Both teams have great players and coaching, lets face it , it all boils down to who executes the best. Best wishes to both teams, it's to bad someone has to lose ! Side note-- neither team is as good as the Collinwood teams from the Johnathan Ward era--.

  18. Only way they could play each other would be in the state title game.
  19. Where in Nashville and what classifaction ? I know of a single A school near Murfreesboro looking to play a game Tue. or Wed. in order to knock off some rust. They have had a week lay off before their District Tourney and would love to play anybody to get prepared. Please leave a contact number or E-mail address and I will see that their coaches know about this post. Thanks and I hope both of you find a game.
  20. No, Cascade beat Huntland boys by 20 points.
  21. DCA will win this ball game. They have a very talanted football team, with lots of senior leadership. They have a well balanced offense and a hard nose defense. However they do have some weaknesses. In order for Wayne Co. to prove me wrong they must run the ball outside and throw the ball over the middle, to cause problems. Cascade had the most success doing just those things. Cascade had 132 yards rushing where all but 7 yards came outside the tackles. They also passed for 158 yards with 111 of those yards comming across the middle. You can move the ball on them, but execution is key(Cascade lacked this once they entered the red zone). When they are on offense you must make them one dimensional (cascade didn't do this either). DCA runs the ball better than any 1A team I have ever seen play. Making them throw the ball could be the best bet. The offensive lines weakness is pass protection. Cascade got pressure on their QB consistently, but the all sophomore defensive backfield couldn't keep their coverage once the QB started to scramble. Best wishes to Wayne Co. you will need every break you can get!
  22. Mac Christmas from Cascade High School has 117 in 8 games ! His back up has played in his place during the second half, of the last two ball games, because of big leads.
  23. Cleveland 1994 by far the best team, even better than MBA
