    TRINITY?

I think this thread needs to be deleted. Even if you think you know what you're talking about, you don't need to be discussing the details on a mesage board, PERIOD! Their mother is still working there, and I know the girls love the school. End of discussion. Moderators please stop this thread before anymore rumors or insinuations start.

    TRINITY?

It has nothing to do with Piglet's question, but more with the why they are leaving aspect of it. I said it was a rumor that they are leaving this year cause they are not. Whether or not they leave next year is yet to be seen, and I just don't feel like it's important to discuss these things on a message board. Unless you are directly involved in the situation, then it isn't anyone's business to speculate here or otherwise. Bottom line is that if the girls and their parents wanted YOU to know what was going on, then THEY would have told you. Whatever their decision is I know that the people who know and love them will be happy for them.

    TRINITY?

I really don't think this is anything to be discussed here on this board. If they do move to Knoxville, then they are doing what is best for them and what they feel God is leading them to do. This year has yet to get started, so why don't we focus on this season?

    TRINITY?

It's just a rumor...all three of them are there as of this year.
  5. Tullahoma was one of those teams I seriously though about putting in there. A lot of the 8-AAA teams should be very good this year.
  6. I'll try to give a top ten: Single A 1. Trinity 2. Forrest 3. Columbia Academy 4. Huntingdon 5. Friendship 6. Whitwell 7. Grace Baptist 8. Summertown 9. Midway 10. Richland AA 1. Goodpasture 2. Hixson 3. Covington 4. Gibbs 5. Greenbrier 6. Camden 7. Chattanooga Christian 8. Stone Memorial 9. Westview 10. Ezell-Harding AAA 1. Riverdale 2. Mt. Juliet 3. Ooltewah 4. Brentwood 5. Soddy Daisy 6. Beech 7. Wilson Central 8. Farragut 9. Columbia 10. Hendersonville II 1. GPS 2. Baylor 3. Pope John Paul II 4. Father Ryan 5. St. Benedict
  7. This tournament isn't at the new complex actually; it's at Malesus Park. There is one being played there(Sarah Beth Whitehead Tournament) that only TCA and SS have signed up for. It really is a shame that the Jackson schools aren't supporting each other. On the other hand, I also know that there is a limit to how many tournaments a team can be in now; TCA is in quite a few already, including one already that weekend in Murfreesboro.
  8. IMHO, you are really doing a lot of teams a disservice when you say public can't play or beat privates. What about Dyer Co., Seymour, and Gibbs? All of them gave USJ and Goodpasture games at State. Not to mention Covington who won it the year before. The same goes in Single A, Huntingdon and Lookout Valley made JCS and Friendship go extra games before the Championship. Not to mention McKenzie who won it the year before. It's just so short-sighted to say that publics can't compete when they continue to do so year after year. Maybe there's a difference between these schools, who believe they can win, and others who just believe they can't........
  9. A- I expect to see Trinity there if they play like they are capable of, Forrest was young last year and got all the way to the championship game, and I think Burchell will lead Columbia Academy back to the top. AA- Goodpasture should be the favorite, Gibbs is always strong, and I never count out any team that Tobie Joy is pitching for, so Covington. AAA- Cat will keep Riverdale in every game she pitches, if their offense comes through, I'd say they will be there at the end. Also Mt. Juliet has a lot of their hitters back and have come up just short the past two years. Ootelwah is a darkhorse candidate, and you never count out Soddy.. II- GPS clobbered the competition last year, and I expect them to come through this year.
  10. This district always seems to be very competitive from top to bottom. If I had to guess, I'd say Westview would be the front-runner, especially if they keep playing the way they were at the end of the season. Milan always seems to be capable of knocking people off, and Dyer County seems to always have a good team. Crockett was very young last year, but their middle school program is top notch. I don't know too much about Dyersburg, Obion, or Gibson.
  11. For any team that is not busy or already in another tournament, I would suggest being a part of this tournament. Not only will it be at a beautiful, new facility, but there will also be some outstanding and competitive teams there as well(many of whom have represented at State in the last couple of years). However, the most important reason I can give to be a part of this tournament is to honor the memory of a great young woman named Sarah Beth Whitehead. I personally knew Sarah Beth and watched her grow up from a child. She was an outstanding young person, who strived to be her best and live her life for Christ. During National Donor's Week, she was recognized at Vanderbilt for her gifts, both in life and in death. I really can't stress enough how special she was and is to the people of Jackson, and I hope that you can join us in celebrating her too at this tournament. Thank-you.
  12. Is it possible that sometimes teenage girls just lose interest and love in something? Sometimes young adults just want to try something else and explore other options other than basketball. Kids quitting or leaving happens at every school, just look at college kids who transfer to another school or quit. There is nothing out of the ordinary happening at Trinity. P.S. Milan is gonna put the beat down on a lot of schools this year.

    Forrest VS FCS

I'm not quite sure why I'm even posting this because people are always gonna feel one way or another, but I felt I needed to on behalf of my old school. I know you probably won't believe me on this, but I can say without a doubt that no girl that plays softball at Trinity is having their school paid for. If that was the case, someone should have told my mom, dad, aunt, and uncle not to struggle to put me, my sister, and my two cousins through school there. All three girls have played softball there, and all three put a lot of blood sweat and tears into it. My sister and cousin had to endure many one and three win seasons when they played there. They struggled to even put a team on the field back then in 1997. Now 10 years later, my younger cousin, who has been there since Kindergarten and has come up with a lot of wonderful girls and athletes, is reaping the success of hard work and dedication. I know right now that it hurts to lose, but I give all the credit in the world to the Forrest softball team. They battled every game in the tournament, and they did a tremendous job. To say that another team won unfairly is taking credit away from them. If Trinity was recruiting their kids in, then they are not doing that great of a job because Forrest was right there with them. There was an article written this past week or so about Ivy and Ellen Renfroe in the Jackson Sun. There's a quote in there from her dad saying he didn't even realize TCA had a softball program when he started working there. I know that it seems like privates always win, but it could just have easily been Forrest this year, as it could be next year. I just think it's unfair to make generalizations about all privates, as it is to lump all publics. Everyone of the girls from Trinity live in Jackson. And for the record: SS Ellen Renfroe 4th grade 3B Brittney Yates Kindergarten C Katie Henderson Kindergarten P Ivy Renfroe 5th Grade RF Shelby Cummings 8th Grade 2B Ali Bozza Kindergarten CF Olivia Wilson 9th Grade 1B Hailey Elliott 9th Grade DH Natalie Nelson 8th Grade PR/DH Amy Johnson Kindergarten Those were the players that played in the championship game. 6 of them started there in elementary school, 2 in middle school, and two in high school. Like I said I know some people won't agree with me, but if you take a closer look at the situation, then you'll see that some cases are just exceptions to the rule. P.S. Cascade11 I think they are just trying to prove a point, but I also believe what you said can go for everyone: "She's a young lady trying to enjoy high school and loves the game that we all claim to love. Take care of your team, quit your whining and play ball!......."
  14. I really believe if TCA comes and plays like they are capable of that they should win it. All the teams at this point are good though. The first round game winners should be Whitwell, Forrest, East Robertson, and TCA. Fishunt does have a point about Friendship beating East Robertson twice this season, but then again anyone can win at this point in the season. Also keep your eye on a team like Whitwell, the element of surprise can be a big factor come tournament time.
  15. TCA will be losing two seniors off this year's team: All-State catcher Katie Henderson, who is going to play at ETSU, and CF Olivia Wilson. They have been great leaders and smart ball players. TCA will have 7 starters back including their entire pitching staff, and they will be getting some young players up from the 8th grade(including Anna Renfroe, Ivy and Ellen's youngest sister). If they can fill the holes, then I expect them to be competitive again next year as well.
  16. Just from seeing both teams play TCA, I think it should be a good game. Colyer is a good pitcher, and her defense does a good job behind her. Carter has some of the best off-speed stuff I have seen this year. The only difference is that I think ER may have the advantage in their batting, so I'd say East Robertson will take this one in a somewhat close game.
  17. Another outstanding freshman pitcher is Ellen Renfore for TCA. She is the younger sister of Ivy, and she has really come out this year. Her record is 19-3, with quality wins against teams like Beech, Wilson Central, and Camden. The best thing about her is the way she handles herself on the mound. She has such a calm demeanor about her ,and she uses a lot of different pitches to throw batters off. She has a really bright future!

    TCA Score

    They played Fayette Academy
  19. I know Trinity beat Camden that morning 2-1, then Obion 6-0 in the first round, then Bolton 13-3 in the semi-finals, finally beating Camden in the finals 12-0. I believe their record is 31-5 now.
  20. I just thought I would add that according to the official stats on TSSAA, TCA outhit CA all three games they played them. If it wasn't a homerun by Ivy, then it was at least a double and then they followed that with more hits to produce more runs. Secondly, Shelby's "homerun" would have only made the score 4-2. I was there, and both of those calls were hard to make. The difference was that the TCA ball player caught the ball going out, and CA didn't. One umpire saw it one way, and another one saw it differently. I'm glad you say that they deserved it because they did. You have to make the plays when you need them. As far as fortunate, it's more a case of preparation meeting opportunity. Plus, I can honestly say TCA's players know that it's a new year, and they have to get it done this year as well. I'll just be glad when all this speculation can end, and we can all enjoy softball.
  21. Orange, Your best bet is to not take things written so personally. I don't think anybody thinks that Trinity is going to have it easy; they're just commenting on how good they are. Obviously stating, "Friendship, 'nough said" is going to get some replies. Also two bad calls don't lose the game for you, it's a combination of things that happen in the game. I don't think either of the posters saying that it is TCA's to lose are from Trinity because the girls and fans know they have to prove themselves on the field in order to say that. However, until someone knocks them off, they are the champions, and I hope they can earn the right to say that again once the season ends. P.S. Wins against teams in pre-season are a lot different from beating them in season, IMHO.
  22. TCA is having another great year. Both Renfroe girls are pitching very well, and their defense has really stepped up. Their bats are getting better throughout the season, especially considering 5 of them were playing basketball till the weekend before season started. The thing I really like about this team is that everyone of them can put the bat on the ball. Their last game they hit 5 over the fence by 4 different people. I like their chances this year in single A, and I am really glad they are getting to play tougher teams as well. It's only going to prepare them come tournament time. They are the only team to beat GPS all year, in a great game that went into the international tiebreaker, plus they have beaten Beech who is a powerhouse AAA team. Also, it was definitely a compliment that the coach and players from Friendship came to watch TCA play. Best of Luck to them as well.
  23. They're doing pretty well against tougher competition this year. So far their record is 11-3, with quality wins against teams like Beech, GPS, Wilson Central, and going undefeated in the St. Benedict Tournament. They lost to a very tough Hendersonville team 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the Hendersonville Tourney, so I believe they're right there. They still have some room to improve(since 5 of them were playing basketball right up till when the season started), but I believe the strong competition will help them get where they need to be.
  24. When I left just a few minutes ago, the semis were starting. The final 8 were: Hendersonville 2-1 over Trinity Siegel 1-0 over Mt. Juliet Buckhorn, AL. 8-3 over White House Riverdale def. Stone Memorial(not sure of the score) Hendersonville and Siegel were playing, and Riverdale and Buckhorn were playing in the semis. Since I was there for TCA I can report their scores. In the tournament portion, they beat E. Robertson 7-1, GPS 1-0 in int. tiebreaker, Beech 2-1, then lost to Hendersonville 2-1.
  25. I won't let you have it cause you do bring up some valid points. I kept wondering why in the world they kept going inside, but they did time and time again. However, nothing beats hustle and true grit. Sometimes that is all it takes to impress people, whether you feel that way or not. I just felt Trinity had more of that yesterday. Three times, 5'2" Henderson rebounded her own shot and got putbacks. I wouldn't say 9 times out of 10 TCA would win, but they just played better as a team. Andrews had 28 of the 43 points for Collinwood. It looked like most of the plays were designed for her(for good reason), but at some point others have to step up in that situation to take some of the load off of her. I'm sure this one game does not reflect how they have played the entire season, as TCA's probably doesn't either. Collinwood could definitely use this as motivation for next year. Until then, that not-so-impressive team will keep hustling and playing till their done. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
