  1. Although it's kind of grainy, it looks like White had a loose head gear. He has to straighten it several times. I don't think an appropriately fitting head gear would move around like that. Hey, bad things happen to good people and it's what you do with it that is important. Based on what I've read about Ofori, I'm sure he'll overcome the dissappointment and do well.
  2. They didn't get back in until around 1972. According to the TSSAA Baylor won in 1962 but I'm not sure that they weren't in the MidSouth at the same time. I do know that there wasn't a public or private school that could compete with them for a number years when they were in the Mid South. In both 1968 and 1970 when ND won the state, they were hammered by both McCallie and Baylor. It was the same case with Red Bank and East Ridge in the 60's. But as someone will point out on this board, if "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, what a great Christmas we'd have.
  3. Bayor and McCallie weren't participating in the TSSAA for a couple of decades. The numbers would be much different.
  4. That's life and wrestling and redundant.
  5. The Red Raiders were widely considered the best in the classification throughout the season and were state duals champions. Baylor coach Jim Morgan made no excuses. ???It didn??™t hinge on any one person,??? Morgan said. ???I think Father Ryan earned the championship.??? Why the man is in the Wrestling Hall of Fame.
  6. bigblu1 - I was attempting sarcasm with the "manufactured vomit" comment. Ask Mr. Jamieson to explain the concept to you. There was no question (unless of course you are a conspiritorial nut or rabid Baylor fan but that's redundant) that Hooker was ill. Ill or not, I know Hooker and Connell wouldn't offer it as an excuse. And if the shoe (sorry Michael!) was on the other foot, niether would Doster. Both guys have it their all and the Best Match award was deserved. Can't wait to see the rivalry progress.
  7. Ronnie is the sane voice that has avoided a complete split. If it was up the the man, there would still only be one division. I'll miss Ronnie's pragmatic approach.
  8. I know the change reduced the numbers at the finals but the economy also had negative impact on travel.
  9. A serious case of taking your marbles and going home. Coach Jordan certainly showed the rest of the state who's boss and his backside too.
  10. Making excuses is not in the DNA of Morgan, Van Deusen, Connell or their wrestlers; it's a class thing.
  11. Yeah, he's quite the actor being able to manufacture vomit. Hooker's not on here making excuses and you won't hear Connell either. Doster won and he'll get to wrestle Hooker a lot more before they both graduate.
  12. A long tradition of both high school and college wrestling. For instance, Notre Dame's program has been around for 70 years. Having a strong college program at UTC, and before that UC, has provided a great source of coaches. Had Title 9 not decimated collegiate wrestling elsewhere in the state, the quality of high school wrestling would be more evenly distributed. All that and there's something in the water here.
  13. And speaking of Jones, is he expecting octuplets?
  14. No, a trillion dollar spending package is what's wrong with the country. High school girl wrestling is just silly.
  15. Compliments of title 9, for most of these guys, that's all folks!
  16. Computer error or more likely, operator. There are so many permutations and combinations at this point but I'd have to go with FR if only for the current 9.5 lead, and then Baylor.
  17. Make that Baylor by a lot.
  18. The Division I state wrestling duals??™ days in Clarksville are officially at an end. Clarksville officials notified the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association by mail on Tuesday that they no longer wished to be considered as a host site. ???If Clarksville has no desire to host the tournament, we obviously will be looking at other options,??? TSSAA executive director Ronnie Carter said. Clarksville coach Jeff Jordan had reportedly told Region 9 coaches earlier this week that Clarksville would not be bidding to host the duals next year. ???Once the season is over we always review both the dual and traditional tournaments and then make decisions regarding tournament sites,??? Carter said. One potential site is the Williamson County Agricultural Center, which is located near several high schools including Brentwood and Independence. The facility will reportedly accommodate eight mats with team benches for each and has a seating capacity of approximately 4,000. If that site is available, it is possible the state would be able to reunite Division I and Division II tournaments under the same roof. We'll have to send our biased refs to Williamson county now.
  19. Multiple flagrant fouls must be in the eye of the beholder and not the ref. Very curious. Could it be that the accuser's vision is clouded by his partisanship?
  20. Spoken like a true Chattanoogan and correct on every issue.
  21. I hate 'em. They're always too tight on my biceps.
  22. Georgia is just so darn progressive - at least in wrestling tournament seeding!
