  5. hey, i just thought yall would like to know
  6. its just like region4fan said, it has alot to do with coaches, and how well they promote their players. at oakland, i dont know how they do it at riverdale, but at oakland the coaches promote the team theory. they treat everybody the same. you could never see a snap, and the coaches would treat u the same way as the starting running back, or QB. its a team at oakland, it always has been. and they have continued to be successful. u dont have to have superstars to be good. i gaurantee oakland could grease Jeff. county. maybe we will see come playoff time.
  7. UVA beat JHU today to capture the NCAA lacrosse national championship. i dont know anything about lacrosse, but i know that they have to fling a lil ball into nets. i figured that its a sport, and since it uses a ball and they throw it, baseball is the closest realated sport on these boards to it. so, there u have it.
  8. when is the national championship? who will have to win 2 games?
  9. why did riverdale get a new coach. i didnt see it in the paper. when did they get rid of their old coach, and why.
  10. i think a really big under rated player is the running back at Oakland. Carlos Crawford. He rushed for over 1200 yards last year, and got no props. he will explode this year with one of the biggest o-lines in years.
  11. Cbssportsline.com reports the story as follows: Larry Brown resigned as coach of the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday after six often-turbulent seasons, saying the decision "has been coming for a long time." Brown, a Hall of Famer and one of basketball's most well-traveled coaches, could be a candidate for coaching vacancies in Cleveland, Houston and elsewhere. He said the 76ers have released him from a contractual clause that prohibited him from coaching another NBA team if he left Philadelphia prematurely. Brown had two years left in his contract. Brown's job with the Sixers was his longest tenure with any team in his 31-year coaching career. He led the team to the playoffs five straight years, including the 2001 NBA Finals, and is to coach the U.S. men's national team this summer at an Olympic qualifying tournament in Puerto Rico. The 62-year-old Brown had been contemplating stepping down since Philadelphia lost its second-round playoff series to the Detroit Pistons in six games. The Sixers overcame a mediocre start, won 23 of their final 33 games and finished 48-34. But after beating New Orleans in six games in the first round, the Sixers couldn't get past the top-seeded Pistons, losing twice in overtime and once on a last-second shot that was goaltended. "We had a good run," Brown said at a news conference. "I think it's time to get somebody else in here to maybe give a fresh look." LeBron James, expected to go to the Cavaliers with the top pick in the NBA Draft on June 26, said he would be happy if Brown ended up in Cleveland. "I think Larry Brown is a great teacher if we can get him," James said during an interview at halftime of TNT's broadcast of the San Antonio-Dallas playoff game Sunday night. "I consider myself a student of the game, so Larry Brown would be great." Larry Brown was the first coach to take six different NBA teams to the playoffs.(AP) Brown came to Philadelphia in 1997, taking over a perennial loser that hadn't been to the playoffs since 1991. With help from then-president Pat Croce, Brown turned the Sixers from a laughingstock franchise into one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. In 2000-01, Brown led the Sixers to a 56-26 record and first place in the East. Philadelphia advanced to the NBA Finals for the first time in 18 years before losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in five games. Brown won the NBA's Coach of the Year honors that season, the only time he won the award. Brown was Coach of the Year in the ABA three times in four seasons. Brown had a contentious relationship with Allen Iverson, but the two worked together despite several disputes. At one point, the All-Star guard nearly was traded to Detroit. A few times, Brown came close to leaving, and once had to be talked out of quitting by Croce and general manager Billy King. Brown twice considered the possibility of returning to coach his alma mater, North Carolina -- both in 2000 when Matt Doherty was hired, and again when the Tar Heels were looking for a replacement in April. Brown compiled a record of 879-685 in the NBA, and 1,285-853 overall, including ABA and college. Brown won an NCAA national championship with Kansas in 1988. He became the first coach to take six NBA teams to the playoffs when the Sixers made it in 1999. The Sixers were 255-205 under Brown, and 26-30 in the playoffs. Brown has had winning records in 27 of his 31 seasons as a head coach on the professional and collegiate levels. He finished first in his division six times and reached the Eastern Conference finals three times. Brown has also coached the Denver Nuggets (five years), Indiana Pacers (four years), San Antonio Spurs (3½ years), New Jersey Nets and ABA Carolina Cougars (each two years) and the Clippers (18 months). A three-time All-Star guard in the ABA, Brown is the only U.S. male to play and coach in the Olympics. Brown's team for the Olympic qualifying tournament in Puerto Rico includes Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, Tim Duncan and Iverson. The team will try to win one of three spots in the 2004 Olympics for nations from the FIBA-Americas zone. To answer your question, i think kansas has filled their job, but i am not sure. i think i actually heard of him maybe going there

    Oakland?

Ah, lebanon. i forgot about them. That darned #4 was so fast. and he is back. mmmm, i think the region will end up like this for the playoffs 1OHS/RHS 2OHS/RHS 3.LHS/BHS/SHS 4.LHS/BHS/SHS
  13. i dont know the latest news, but i do know that the last i heard from a player on seigle, that they were playing at middle. the team is buying them turf shoes, as well as regular cleates. any new news would be welcomed if it has developed
  14. What are yall's thoughts on the sixer's coach Larry Brown stepping down. Personally, i dont think he should have gone. i think he is a great coach, and is just getting down b/c they didnt make it to where he wanted to be. he says the organization will be better with out him, but i dont think so. What are yall's thoughts on this
  15. Yea, what i read in the paper was that the had a complex that they thought was going to be ready in time, but for some reason or another it wasnt. it didnt say why, just that it wasnt fully completed

    Oakland?

Man, you are crazy. u dont know anything about the boro teams do you. Oakland is returning all but 6 starters. they were good last year. this year they will be better. no way they will be 5-5. i say they will win the region, or come in 2nd. i think the region title game will come down to the RHS/OHS game. then blackman, and smyrna
  17. Yes, the softball tourney was actually held in Mississippi b/c memphis didnt have a softball complex ready
  18. Oh, dont get me wrong, i know he was wrong, and i know that being a star he is gonna have anyhthing bad put out in the limelight, but i dont agree with it. why should he have to give up his privacy b/c he is a star. he is just as much human as me or u, but i could get a dui and no1 care. and i know that families wouldnt care if a family member was killed by a celebrity or not. i didnt say anything that had to do with that. my big thing is, and it always has been, i hate it that just because a person is a star, their personal life is blasted over the news. when stever mcnair signed his contract, he wasnt signing away his privacy and personal life
  19. Hey FHS, i am sorry. i forgot about franklin all together. no disrespect meant
  20. Ok jpats, dont dog on the boro teams. i can gaurantee that any of the past 3 or 4 years any boro team could beat jeff. co. who cares if we dont have superstars, even though i believe we do with Los, we dont need superstars to be great, we do it together
  21. olineathlete

    Oakland?

surprisingly, no. they dont lack depth. they have more than 1 backup at every position. of course, they do have everybody going both ways, so...that could be why. However, quality experience is not goin to be an experience. on offense, they only lost myself, the center, and the other guard, on defense, they lost around 5 people. quality experience shouldnt be a problem
  22. hey bob, yea im not sure of the exact order, but i know its close to this 1. Brentwood Academy 2.La Vavergne 3.Franklin 4. Wilson Central 5.Lincoln County 6. Blackman 7.Riverdale 8.Seigle 9.Lebanon 10. Smyrna I dont think its in the correct order, but i know those are the teams
  23. hey bob, yea im not sure of the exact order, but i know its close to this
  24. I just have two questions. what kind of offense are you guys running, and what kind of defense are you running. are yall running the same type of offense as watson called at BHS? If so, it seems to work. How about defese? maybe a little 3-4, 4-3? or 50. or, one of my personal favorites to play against, the bear front.
  25. i dont think that MBA and BA have to schedule out of state games b/c people being afraid ot them.
