  1. Also tell us why. I believe that once again Bradley will win. Top 5 varsity members are back from last years region championship and with Jackie 100% it is going to be hard to dethrone us. 1st- Bradley 2nd & 3rd- Cleveland, Soddy Daisy, or possibly McMinn County if they get those 4x800 girls to run.
  2. Poll is in alphabetical order only. Tell us why you think what you do. I believe that it will be very close between Bradley and McMinn again this year. But, I think that this is the year that we will win. 1st- Bradley 2nd- McMinn 3rd- Cleveland
  3. Coach Berti is a great coach who has been there before. I hope DCA wins.
  4. I agree with you on the 1500 part but not necessarily the pole vault. In order to obtain a lot of points in the pole vault, you must be able to vault around 12' or higher. There are few decathletes who are outstanding at the pole vault, and even when there are, they are usually weak in other events. Not always, just usually. You are however correct on the 1500. I have seen many decathlons won and lost in this final event. I was not implying that he was a sure winner, just that he would be in the running.
  5. You are correct. Let me explain my post a little more. The way that the AAA does it in that same section is that the Cahttanooga area has a 10 team sub-sectional meet and the Murfreesboro/Middle Tennessee has a 11 or 12 team sub-sectional meet. We take the top four runners from each sub-section and have a one heat sectional. The sectional rotates each year. One year it is in Chattanooga and the next it will be in Murfreesboro. This would be the ideal system for you guys in A-AA too, but since there are so few schools in your area that have track, that will force you to have to come to Chattanooga every year for the sectional meet.
  6. Were their two decathletes the ones who got in trouble?
  7. Lamar is definitely one of the top bets in the decathlon. He has been sub 11 in the 100, 23'1" Long Jump, 6'5" High Jump, 40'6" in Shot, 51.2 400, 15.6 110 Hurdles, 45' 5" Triple Jump, 105' Discus. His only two sub-par events are the pole vault and the 1500, and we are trying to train him hard for these two events. If he keeps his head on straight, he could be a state champion and hopefully help us compete for a team championship.
  8. The reason that Page is in the Chattanooga section is because in the section that they would be in there are only about 4 schools that have a track and field team. That would not be quite fair to allow all those kids to go to state since their is not much competition. It is a shame that more schools in that area of the state do not have track programs. They need to find a coach who is willing to develop a program. In the AAA section, I have not seen Siegel's 4x800. They did not come back to the Kiwanis Classic so we did not see them. However, from the looks of things the competition in our region is going to be between Siegel, McMinn Co (If they are healthy), and Bradley (8:28 with 3 sophomores and a freshman). Tullahoma is decent, but down a lot from last year.
  9. As long as Melrose still has Doss and Armour they are going to be tough. Plus if I am not mistaken, Doss' younger brother is a freshmen this year and they said last year that he was the real deal. This loss helps some of the rest of us out, but I still wouldn't count Melrose out.
  10. Shon Lowe ran a 15.14 at our 1st meet at Riverdale on Saturday.
  11. I think that for Cumberland Co to get rid of their coach is a huge mistake. You can say what you want to about her record, but look at the teams that she schedules. That alone helps to improve her players. And you can say what you want about all of that talent, but when big post players miss 5-10 wide open layups a game, that has nothing to do with the coaching. Maybe all those talented players arent't so talented at all. I am sure that there are many schools out there who would have loved to be playing in the substate 3 out of the last 5 years and would just love for this particular coach to be at their school. It is just a shame that it is under these circumstances.
  12. I hope that the Livingston Acadamy girls do not think that they are going to just go in and walk away with an easy victory. Remember, WV played well in the substate against Jackson County. I have seen both play, and do think that LA will win this game, but I dont think that it will be a complete runaway. I could be wrong, but I think it will be closer than 20-25 points.
  13. Just so everyone knows, Buckalew will not only be back for the region tournament but will play in Bradley's first district game this week. Does that change anyone's predictions?
  14. I think that ignorance is just spreading out there. (I would say stupidity, but that might hurt someone's feelings.) Coach Harlowe has the respect of his players, and most of them, heaven forbid, even like him. It is amazing to me that you people get on here and talk about a man that you know nothing about. Have you seen the practices and games lately? He has not even yelled or screamed in a few games, unlike some other coaches that I have seen. Today at practice, he was walking out on the court and talking and laughing with a couple of his players. I find it so funny that some people can take one or two incidents and make it look like this man is just the most horrible man alive. GET OFF HIS BACK! I dont know where you get that Harlowe is not coaching good this year. Bradley beat Oak Ridge, Walker Valley, South Greene, and only lost by a few points to teams like Sevier County and Wilson Central. And, as for your comments about the girls being so confused that they don't know when to shoot. Hmm, let's see: Pickel has the green light, Jackson has the green light, Crowe has the green light. Cassada may not have the green light, but that is because she does not have much of a shooting range, but since she has been playing more and more, Harlowe has designed more plays to get her open under the basket so she can score. She is averaging close to double figures since being inserted into the starting lineup. Reynolds is a player that Harlowe expects a lot out of on the defensive end and rebounding and she always delivers. In all situations, these girls know their roles, and it is up to them to execute them. It is time for you people to quit trying to run people's names thru the mud and get a life. Oh, and by the way could you at least stick to the post topics. That would be so kind of you. Bradley by 10
  15. blackandgold, I agree with you, the Smith kid could be a very good player if given more chances. I have a question that maybe you can answer. Does JuJaun take most of the shots in the offense because he wants to be the star or does the coach tell him to or what. It seems to me that McMinn could be a much better team if JuJuan would do more to make those around him better than trying to be a one man show all of the time? Just wanting someones opinion who is closer to the situation.
  16. What is everyone's predictions on this game? I know that McMinn is very hungry for a win against Bradley. I heard it has been something like 16 straight regular seasons games since they have beaten them. Can McMinn's big gun offset the powerful Bradley attack? What does everyone think. I think that Bradley will be too much for McMinn. Bradley will blow a close first half lead into a 20 point win.
  17. If WV's 3's are going it is going to be a long night for Sweetwater. Walker Valley by 13
  18. Anyone have their predictions on this game for Friday night. I think that McMinn has lost a lot from last year. Still have a couple of good 3-point shooters though, and tough to beat in Athens. But, I think that all around Bradley is better. I am going with Bradley by 15. Anyone else? GO BEARETTES!!!
  19. It doesn't matter if Tnwareagle has children in the program or not, she is telling the truth. Referees are just human and make mistakes but the call in that game was the correct one. LuckyDay, It seems like the only type of posts that you can make are ones that try to get arguments started. Kinda childish dont you think?
  20. If my posts seemed argumentative or aimed at you GottaHaveHeart, I apologize. Others on this board as well as the boys board have gotten me irked just a little bit. I think your last post makes a good statement and wraps up this discussion. Two good coaches; two good teams; two different philosophies, neither right neither wrong. Round 1 was exciting and I can't wait for Round 2. Good luck the rest of the way!
  21. First of all, GottaHaveHeart, I did not say that the scheduling made Coach Harlowe a better coach than Coach Tucker. I said that I believe the schedule that Bradley played would be an advantage in the game meaning that Bradley had played teams that were as good or better than Walker Valley and that would prepare them a lot better than Walker Valley playing teams that were not as good as Bradley. I did say that coach Tucker may like to pad his stats by scheduling weak teams, but that was not inteded to be a knock on him. A whole lot of coaches do that, and he also cannot help if they are in a weaker district and region. If that is how you want to schedule then so be it, but I do not think that it prepares your players as well for the big games against tough competition. Enough said on that. Secondly, I still feel that coach Harlowe is a better coach than Tucker. I never said that coach Tucker was not a good coach; he is. But, I believe that coach Harlowe is one of the best coaches in the state and players and coaches throughout the state will agree with me on that. Finally, Bradley has not lost a game by more than 12 points all year. Check your information a little better before you make comments. P.S. Heidi Rominger probably had the potential to play for a much better team than a sub-.500 NAIA school. Just my Opinions. GO BEARETTES!!!
  22. I have to agree with LuckyDay on this one. Coach Green deserves a technical foul every game that they play. He acts like a little kid on the sideline. Nothing is ever his or his players fault. I think that Cleveland needs to evaluate their coaching situations in almost every sport except for maybe football, because the current coaches are not getting the job done, and the kids at Cleveland (and everyone knows that there is talent in those halls) do not seem to get up for the coaches.
  23. After watching the game I have to laugh at the posts made by LuckyDay. The only coach that was losing his cool, yelling, hitting chairs, and getting in girls faces was Tucker. Coach Harlowe was calm and collected. Yes, there have been points in the past where Coach Harlowe may get a little carried away but it is not because he has no respect for the girls, it is because he wants them to be the best that they can be. And I stand by my earlier statement that Harlowe is 10 times the coach that Tucker is. It seems like all Tucker is concerned about is seeing how high of a winning percentage he can accumulate. Just look at the teams he schedules. Bradley wins playing the best teams in the state. Walker Valley has good players but their potential will never be brought out where they are.
  24. Congratulations Bearettes on your win. This team is continuing to gel as a team and getting better. They came out with a lot of fire and emotion and played real well. Bradley really controlled almost the whole game. Congratulations JP I know that this was real sweet for you. Keep up the good work Bearettes and who knows how far you can go. GO BEARETTES!!!
