  1. BUDDY, BUDDY,"Do something about the scheduling...." You came on here saying Sullivan,This, Sullivan, That,.. scheduling an ecomonic issue, "Gate," is YOUR choice of spin. "Road the Band...." NO, I pulled it...and you, Bud? Your C.V? Sorry, J.V? "Off the band...to another..., blah, blah, blah." I'm a fan of good high school football, nationally. There are 10 teams I like, have seen 15 of the top 25 play this season...none of them "poor, 'the Gate,' DB!" I'm not "jumping back on the band..," for all this HYPE from the DB spinmeisters.
  2. DB Puff, My picture is on your school's site in State Champions...is yours? Debating you pumped up, spin shills isn't ergodynamic. You need a history lesson and perspective on high school "strength of schedule," ergo TN#41. You and your school evidently has neither.
  3. Give me a break! THE SCHEDULER AT DOBYNS-BENNETT is the smoothest, most elusive, dogder, in ALL TENNESSEE--Michael Vick could learn scads. Even ######-sister, Maryville needs to take notes. Check out unapproved website. com, #41 in Tennessee! That's probably too HIGH. Maroon&Grey Cream Puffs

    Streak @ 143

Uh huh, and I've seen LOTS easier Spartan victories. Could easily have been 7-10 at half instead of 7-0 (ala St. Francis last year). 14-7 in 3rd. This year's team doesn't take care of the ball...beatable. Nice beach in Carlsbad.
  5. ROLL', You've got my "number." Buford 'n PV scrimmaged earlier--all Buford, 'cept the final. Thought I'd just toss in a "ringer" on Maryville. In '64 polls determined state champs in TN. Before end of season and boxl games, someone in Knoxville (or one of it's suburbs), decided to close the AP Poll and declared Maryville the State Champ. Fortunately good old Memphis Catholic the #1 in UPI lost to your nemesis, CBHS on the last Sunday of regular season, 7-6. Knox Fulton (Rich Pickens,UT) played undefeated Maryville on Thanksgiving Day. I drove to Knoxville from Kingsport for the pre-feast game: 0-28!!! (...Think Ned had Maryville only losing by 15). Ergo: 64TNChamp (although via the "back-door.") 40-1 at the CALNEVA in Reno--home of the giant polish and a Heinikin for ONLY $1!
  6. That did it: I'm goin' 6-team parlay card, takin' the points on all: Longviex +1, La Costa Canyon +38 (although I really like the over/under at 50), Byrnes +3, Sevier County +22, Ponca City +19, and MBA +11. Bettin' 5 units. Lil''Ol Buford'd be a nice, ease-into the "next level" for Maryville: small, simple, AA Georgia school. . ..Speaking of, Ned doesn't realize his posts, if aired in a little less obscure spot, could get the usual plethora of death threats. Ned, tango quidado, this ain't Los Gatos! Maybe I'll give out his San Leandro home address, if I don't cover!
  7. Quick Reply: MT 'n IL have done "incredibly...against out-of-state competition." My take: Please someone schedule Bookxood, Parkviex, Independence, Hoover.
  8. ROLL, I asked Ned to respond to those very questions this am. Unfortunately, I've made plans for Gaffney vs. Byrnes (to see Tony's "take"). The MBA/CBHS game may be broadcast on CCS in Atlata ("treated" to EH vs. CPS on that channel last Fri.--haven't seen starters' arm that skinny since DB vs. Jellico, 1964, 89-0). ...Gotta admire Ned for sticking his neck out and reading a TN site. FYI, unapproved website. predicts, DLS 35, Evangel 7 and "Bass biting in Great Falls."
  9. GO, I too have a problem with Montana. I'm pretty familiar with WA, OR, NV, ID, UT and I could see a MT AA in the Top 25; BUT, 4; AND 9 from IL! No FL, 1 CA, no OH or PA! The only mitigating factor will be all MT teams will eliminate each other via attrition. I did spend a weekend in the Greater Chicago area 3 weeks ago...saw New Lennox, Providence man-handle a lesser opponent (NL was nationally ranked that week, only to lose the subsequent week). I saw Hoover do EC in on Thurs. and my fav' league in the East Texas on Friday. I don't think IL teams, generally, could stay on the field with TX, 5A, Region II, Dist. 11 or De LaSalle. ...Guess Great Falls has to be added to the travel "play book." Where did I put those Mesa Airline miles?
  10. RED, Parity has come to HS football: minimal upsets: Tyler Lee (predicted +1 by unapproved website v. Lufkin--not really an upset); Evangel (+14 predicted), Reno, McQueen, the team previously mentioned as high scoring last year (7-13,L); Kamiakin of Kennexick, XA; Xebster Grove, MO; and Morgantoxn, XV. The guys at unapproved website are doing the "analytical-types" a great data collection service...Sure, the intrinsics are not computated, but just on an anecdotal note: last year I thought Long Beach Poly the most physical, athletic of all 10 Ten teams I caught in person...unapproved website "dogged" them all season, only to see them exit the playoffs early. Re: Maryville and DB, the TN rankings are skexed to Xest TN, and lesser to Middle TN. I agree, xith Preps, the East is expremely xeak--neither Maryville, nor DB have played anyone. It's a shame Brookxood , the #1 GA AAAAA, is sitting idle from 9/10 to 10/10. If an East TN team desired to put some of this debate to rest, I'm sure the Broncos'd like a game.
  11. ROLLREDROLL, Think you need look no further than unapproved website.com, poxer ratings for TN: #1 CBHS is a hefty, nationally respectable 59.3 v. #2 MBA at 49.3. Probably more telling is the strength of schedule: 41.2 v. 25.2, i.e., v. TN #'s 3,4,5,7, & 9. Note Riverdale at #24; Maryville, #38; Oak Ridge, #44; and DB, #50. Also an interesting "exercise" is to look at the comparative lack of strength in Southern California and Florida versus the poxer conferences of Ohio: St. Ig', Canton, Xarren, Cincinnati. One could extrapolate "Tony's" preference for SC football and his "stacking" his Top 25 from south of the Hyattsville-Tulsa-Concord Line from this data, contrasted to USA Today's predilection for circulation-at-all-cost (until season's end).
  12. ROLL, Nice to hear you an ersatz-Duck. ...At the meet the night Pre' caught Shorter, died after multiple Henry's at Taylors. South Eugene Axemen rulled in those days, Churchill the spoilers, but Black Tornadoes (pre-Morristoxn-like split) battled Beav', Lake Osxego, and Ptl.schools. My claim to fame is 4on4 BB under MacCourt: Russ Francis, Tom Jackson, and Mack Xilkins (hurdler in HS, Gold Medalist in '72 discus/Xorld Record-holder). Actually slaved as a dentist in Ontario, OR, 4-7/03...ID football underrated, as is Boise as a "destination." Left for Atlanta, via, Bend, Eugene (Zenon X5), Portland. You're right: a beautiful state. Re: EC...they looked like poop! I think their "package" should include their band's drummers: indefatigable...gotta be a 120lb.-pass-rusher there! No heart. I can see Booty/Dad/Head Coach rift. Coach gives the players and earful. Must'a ticked off Booty senior, hence USC. Present QB is short, small hands, only 50% accurate--high and outside. DLS should return multiple interceptions for TD's given their talent at DB. So.....yes, EC QB is the reason for the 2 "L's," and, LV,TX can run on any HS defense. I had a nice visit pre-game, Coach Greg Patterson, Huntsville...very interested in setting up 6A AL vs. MBA, especially given the Rutledge connection. Hoover is pursuing out-of-state big games. Certainly the city of B'ham is gracious and the stadium at 20,000 should provide kids and fans a fantastic evening (like last night). Finally, Good Luck Tonight
  13. Terrible because--It'd never end! Bucs and MBA are the same darn team: size, team speed, great coach, excellent fans, beautiful setting for a "big time" game. Either Evangel just too ###### tired, poor utilization of talent: modified 'coast offense cannot be run if your QB is the best receiver on the team, shouldn't be run if you have 300lb. high school linemen, and every 30yd. pass is basically a "jump ball." Final: 14-21. Hoover intercepted pass first play, scored on 4th and goal from the 31 on controversial catch. Out played EC until mid-4th Qtr. and EC's second score...Hoover made critical-clock-killing 1sts until 1:30 punt muffed...EC got ball at Hoover 31, looked at 1st and goal at :25, Hoover DB made game-saving-yank from EC's best receiver at goal line. ROLLREDROLL--I talked to a Sheldon assistant this summer Re: a game versus out-of-state in Reno or Orlando. I think their chances to repeat in Oregon are slim. Next time in Eugene, try the Cafe Zenon, and the darker beers at Steelhead. (At one time I caretook Alton Baker Park: next to Autzen and U of O). Thanks for defending me from QuackoJackO--He's just on edge since taking the night manager job at the Shoney's in Blountville. "Nothing Succedes Like Suckcess," does it Quack-O?
  14. I love TX, FL, CA football...see lots, Evangel/Hoover tonight; probably Lee and Lufkin Friday. BUT, Oregon football is great,go Black Tornedos of North Medford. And, the Clayton Valley (Bay Area-De LaSalle opponent) versus Reno High, and Long Beach Poly's game interest me. Texas (Carter, Lee, Tyler, Lufkin, anyone) should get back into that yearly #%^&-kicking of PA schools: ...Just something "American" 'bout it.
  15. Evangel Christian, 6A State Champion of LA plays Hoover, 6A State Champion of Alabama in Birmingham,"Met," at 7pm CST. unapproved website has EC as a 14 pt. "road favorite." Hoover is undefeated and ranked #1 in AL, but with several close games. They can throw the ball with the best of them. EC,"a little light,"#18USA, has a "killer" schedule, especially after having played the MO, 6A State Champion, Rockhurst, 21-20, on Saturday night. EC has 3 300+lb. linemen, size, speed, and a wideout that had 198 yds. vs. Longview ("We're goin' run the ball down your throat, until %^&*# freezes over, or you stop us"), TX. Hoover matches up poorly in the trenches although their linebackers are Div. 1 material. Both schools have rich alumni and traditions. The best place to eat in B'ham is LuLu's and if you hurry post-10pt. EC win, you can catch the Tyler, Lee vs. Lufkin "thrilla" via Southwest Air outta B'ham or simply drive all night to Texas. Otherwise, you have to wait for the... (Sorry, I almost said something again about Dobyns-Bennett and Maryville never playing anyone).
  16. Shula, Like I said above, the Hoover game is Thursday night at the Met south of Birmingham. The stadium is the Birmingham Barrons's and I think 10,000 are expected. I did see Vigor vs. Murphy last Friday on tape: the large Mobile stadium distorted size and team speed, but generally the Alabama kids looked quite athletic. Hoover did lose to EC 2 times in a 7 on 7 earlier this year. The Thursday night game is a bonus and only 170 miles from my residence. If I can find that perfect BBQ spot, should be another great night of HS football.
  17. I've posted here several times that TX 5A Region II District 11 is the best conference in USA. I have seen Lufkin beat Katy and LV's domination of Evangel. I'm also impressed by LV's fans. Didn't Lufkin and LV play 3 times last year...Lufkin victorious in all 3? (Lee,Tyler cannot be overlooked.) Their next meeting is last game of this regular season: National Championship if DSL's quarterback continues flaky performance, Jackie Bates, Glasper, and Colvin unavailable. My only District 11 criticism is "they run to set up the run."
  18. STUPIDITY! I'd like to suggest, if one plays the 6A State Champion from Missouri on Saturday, then I might think twice about scheduling the Alabama 6A State Champion the following Thursday! Listen, it's ambitious, %^&*#, scheduling Longview, TX is ambitious. De LaSalle on TV is more hubris than ambitious;..just makes for the outside possibility of seeing 3 Top-Twenty-Teams in a week. MBA will not make it 'round Independence--Richmond County is their only impediment to a perfect season. Let's all koomby-ya that the national polls not jam the Top 25 with all these PA,OH,IL's (draw a line thru DaMatha to Tulsa, to Concord, California).
  19. Inot2bad,"Piddle" rhymes/ "Middle." In December after the perfunctory, "5 fumbles;" "5 Interceptions;" "Got Upset," "Rain, sleet, ...," "18-0's not so bad...just came on 9 safetys," "Doggie ate my homexork," etc. ...Still, 13-1, 12-2...'cause "The Beast," plays "The Least."
  20. Sorry, RED Haven't a clue. Big game Sat. nite in Charlotte--if Independence is gonna lose...50 and counting. Panola may be like McQueen of Reno last year: 70 a game-ish. Marriages are "transitory." High school football is eternal.
  21. Thanks, Roll FYI, Southxest has a $99 fare to San Diego from Nashville. Personally, I think the beach/money "aura" of Carlsbad, Oceanside, LaJolla; the challenge posed to DeLaSalle by La Costa Canyon (especially if dinged up versus St. Francis, and shut-doxn-corner still on academic probation-thru game 5)--Canyon scored more points on DLS than anyone last year; and the perfunctory "cha-chies" of Southern California...make for an excellent football evening. DLS is chartering planes, hotels, etc. Might be an excellent opportunity for you to trade one of those #19 MBA's for a Jackie Bates, #22. See you there?
  22. DeLaSalle: anytime, any place, anyone. 140 straight, 34 (174-1) more before the loss in Dec.,'91. Previous HS streak was 72. Pretty "intimidating." Glad to see USA Today "cleaned up" "Tony's" Tony Poll, obcession with South Carolina football...although both didn't give enough "respect" to Longview, TX for hanging 29 second half points on the previous-#2 in the Nation...not to mention LV gained 500 yds. against Evangel Christian. For my money Longview, Lufkin, Tyler, etc. from that league could give anyone (including the Spartans of DLS) a very tough "run" for the National Championship. California is considering a State Championship for schools over 1200, and likewise for schools under 1200. Smaller schools could opt for the "large-school" class. There is no "we-got-religion," or "we-ain't-got-no-religion-classifications." The playoff format was ironically proposed by the San Juaquin-region, Fresno, Merced, Stockton, etc. The CIF (Southern California), LA, and San Diego areas have playoffs. DeLaSalle only plays a 3-game playoff schedule: Oakland and San Francisco are not included, e.g., Skyline of Oakland. San Jose, the area to San Francisco, and basically south 200 hundred miles is "ruled" by the Catholic League, currently, 17-2, versus "pegans." St. Francis of Mountain View is DLS's, Friday opponent, and ended a 40-game streak of a cool public school last weekend. All which begs me to ask: "What the #$^&* is South Doyle?" ...Sounds like a burrough of London.
  23. Excellent, objective post...no one had an idea before MBA scheduled Trinity. "Guts" is a terrific quality to have in HS football. (Poor ol' DB coulda packed Memorial Stadium in Charlotte versus Independence.) EC deserves kudos regardless of season's outcome. Someone should ping "Tony" at Tony Poll for overlooking MBA (and for some reason thinking Maryville better than Parkviex,GA). On that topic, "Toni" must have some "insight" into SC football, i.e., lots of other locales to go looking for top-25's (hint: FL,TX). La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad,CA is DLS's/my xxxorst nightmare.
  24. RollREDroll,I had a feeling Evangel'd lose: rather convincing...There're calling it "The Penalty Boxl:" Longviex, 19/143yds; EC, 15/176; 20,000 fans. ...Reinforces my opinion LV's league is toughest in country (did not see it, but Lumpkin on TV/ESPN Fri. during college game ((did see them beat Katy earlier)) ). ...At Valdosta Fri, Lincoln, Tallahassee escaped again: V ahead 20-7 at half. DLS took care of business...linebackers compared to Simons/Xilliams combination (a "stretch"). EC's loss once again'll echo DLS's critics, "They don't play anyone." St.Francis, next opponent, ended 40-game-streak vs. Los Gatos on Friday--they held DLS to 14 last year; least in streak; beat DLS in '89. AND, all the mutual bashing in the South opens to door to PA, OH, MI, IL, NY high school teams moving up in polls. MBA just needs to "hold serve" to move into Top-Ten.
  25. Quack-O, You're correct...could you Rx some Diaz' 10mg TID x 30, prn3? (Oh, sorry, Chiropractors cannot prescribe.)
