I don't see why they can't. All they do is just reload every year. They have done it every other year for the past fifteen years. They averaged like 10 wins wins a season over the past 15 years. I'm not saying they will win the region, but I'd be willing to put a C-note down that says they will make the playoffs. There was a reason they put in that 1.8 multiplier to bump guys like these up to 2A. Because they dominated 1A. And 1A and 2A football is not that big of a difference.

You boys are badly mistaken if you don't think that USJ can compete in 2A. Look at their record from last year. They beat: North Side - granted they were not very good, but they are 4A McNairy Central - a 3A team that made it to the playoffs South Side - a 3A team that made it to the 3rd round of the playoffs They were undefeated all year until they lost to DCA (1a state champs) in the semi-finals of the playoffs. USJ is a well coached team that will have better fundamentals than any team in that region. They may not have better atheletes than some, but they will not be a push over.

Jackson South Side's best player has to be Jabari Greer. Played college ball at University of TenneSSee, and is now playing for the Buffalo Bills.

If you want to see some fast forty times at the combine take a look at this website. http://www.parisischool.com/NFL_Combine_Training.html These people get paid to make top notch college atheletes faster for the NFL scouts, so they are not going to lie about the times recorded at the combine. Fastest time I saw on this site is a 4.30 forty.(Triandos Luke (Alabama)2004 combine) So, high school players that run a 4.3 forty are few and far between( if they exist at all). Even running a 4.4 in high school is almost impossible. Just look at the facts.

Yeah you are right how could they compete against those really good 2a schools. USJ only defeated two 3a schools (both of which went to the playoffs) and a 4a school. Granted North Side had a down year, but McNairy was a really good team, and South Side is still alive in the 3rd round of the playoffs. USJ may not have the super atheletes of some of the larger schools, but they make up for it with discipline and good coaching. And their skill position players are always some of the best in West TN. Wait until next year. I'm not gonna say they will win the region or anything, but they will make some noise.

You have obviously never seen the SS defense play. I'm not saying that they will shut Herndon down, but he won't run all over the Hawks. If this is the rule than South Side should have beat Liberty this year. A liberty player caught a pass on the 10 and was hit, which knocked the ball loose. The ball rolled forward into the endzone, where a Liberty player fell on it resulting in a TD for Liberty. This late score put liberty up by three with little left in the game and SS lost. But, bad calls happen in every game. And believe it or not they go both ways. It is just really devastating when a bad call determines the outcome of a game. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry for all you Greenbrier and Region 5-3A fans trying to portray Greenbrier as the underdogs in this match-up. Not gonna happen. You are the Number 2, I repeat Number 2, ranked team in the state. If a team is ranked Number 2 in the state, it is because they have a bunch of ATHELETES who are disciplined, well coached, and unified. If South Side can pull out a win this Friday I will be ecstatic. Greenbrier is a good football team, but I still have faith in my Hawks. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!

South Side's stadium is on campus. It is located across the street from the school. Not sure how many people it will hold, but there is plenty of room along the fences on both sidelines if you can't find a seat. Looking forward to this one. Godd luck to both teams. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would anyone need to say that Greenbrier has atheletes? You are the Number 2 team in the state. Everyone knows you have atheletes. I'm sure no one considers Herndon an athelete, he's only a Mr. Football finalist. So I'd like to be the first this year to say that the Greenbrier Bobcats are "athletic" and "full of atheletes". Give me a break. Number 2 team in the state and he's whining. Bring the speed and atheleticism to the Nest this Friday, and it will be settled on the field. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why were you surprised Crockett lost to South Side? South Side has a very, very good defense. Our offense has been a little flat at times, but our defense has always dominated. Hopefully, we'll surprise you again this Friday night with another win over Crockett. Granted Crockett does have a good team, and it is tough to beat a team twice. Good luck to both teams. I disagree. The boys at 101.5 called it like they saw it. If people are being idiots (which they were) that's the way you call it, I don't care how old they are. That's what I like about the boys at 101.5, they are not all worried about being politically correct. They report what they see. Sometimes their emotions may run a little high, but that's because they love high school football. I know you are some kind of radio guy, and you probably think what they said was disrespectful to the profession. But, they were just saying what everyone else at the game was feeling. The Hawks offense will be without Douglas for the rest of the season and won't be 100% without him. He has had the worst luck with injuries and other stuff all season. I feel bad for him. He was a great asset to our offense and added a dimension we haven't had since he got hurt. But, we'll be alright, all our offense needs to do is score a few times, our defense will take care of the rest. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!

Not all of us Southside fans were screaming for Hayes to go. We just wanted him to let Coach Sterling turn to the second page of the playbook. Coach Hayes is a good coach and I speak from experience. But, he does have a tendency of being a little too conservative. He believes only three things can happen when you pass the ball, and two of them are bad. If you look at all of the better Southside teams the past couple of years, we had a stable of of good, big, strong backs. That is Coach Hayes' style. 3 yards and a cloud of dust. But since Douglas got injured, we don't have that big, bruising back to wear teams down. So the Hawks just need to change their gameplan a little bit to put more points on the board. No risk, no reward. With our defense, even if a few turnovers were made, we have the ability to stop anyone and get the ball back. If Southside can score 14, I think we will be Region Champs. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Southsides defense is very strong, but unfortunately our offense has not been playing up to par. We give the ball up too much, and since Douglas got hurt we can't seem to run the ball effectively. If we can keep from turning the ball over, our defense can keep us in the game. If we can score 14 and not turn the ball over I think we can win it. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about that. He was a tough kid playing through pain anyways. He had some kind of gall blatter stones or something didn't he as well. He was just playing with the pain til the end of the season so he could play ball his senior year. Good luck to the cavs in the rest of the year. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!

Let me categorize. "Points Allowed" against the defense, "Points Allowed" against the offense, and "Points Allowed" against the both. How can you categorize points allowed by the offense as a determination of how good the defense is? If the offense throws two INTs a game that are returned for touchdowns, why should the defense be penalized, if they held their oppponents offense to less than 150 yds. and no points. In my opinion, that is a good defensive game, great defensive game, but because the offense gave up 14 points the defense is bad, oh that makes perfect sense. Granted Earl Nall's defensive poll is the best for a quick look at statewide schools, I was merely giving more stats that his poll did not cover for a closer look. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!
