How many players are going to play in the fall using the 50% rule?

Because baseball continues from the high school season through the summer when school is out whereas following the football season is 7 more months of school.

The kids it does hurt we never hear from. What happened to senior Babe Ruth/American Legion ball where you had many teams in the summer with four or five pitchers per team? When did it become necessary for high school teams to stay together in the summer? We have a player who didn't play football two years ago to concentrate on baseball and hit .300 last season. This year he played football and is hitting around .550 right now. There are plenty of examples on both sides. I just think kids need to get away from a sport for awhile, regardless of the sport, and hopefully play something else.

I would rather see a young arm rested at least two months a year, with no throwing, and preferably four months. I would think their mental game would be much better for it, also. There has to come a time, when you are practicing almost year round, when you are just puttting in time but not accomplishing much.

Did anyone give a reason for limiting the scrimmages?

The length for football is a different topic and, yes, it is too long. Should you expect the baseball coach to keep the facilities open year-round?

Have you asked your school's TSSAA representative why he voted the way he did? I think that on the BOC that would be Bryan True, the principal at Summertown High School and on the Legislative Council it is Mike Tatum, Lewis County High School principal.

David- isn't 8 months a year enough? You have 10 weeks January - March to get ready for the season and then play until August. I loved baseball, turned down a contract with the Pirates when I was 15 because in those days it made you a pro in all sports, but I don't think I could have played the game 12 months a year with any intensity.

Every school has a say in the rules. Every coach knows, or certainly should know, who the TSSAA Board of Control and Legislative Council members are for their region. Those members vote the way that the schools in their region tell them to. Teams can get together and let a few from each team play with members from other teams and still participate in fall leagues. Playing with other players might be beneficial, too.

I send an email when photographers sign up but it is still a lot of learn-as-you-go. The traffic is not high yet since we have just started and are just building up the photo database. The parents find out the same way we have always done it on here which is word-of-mouth. At some point, if it goes well, people will come here looking for photos like they do the other things on the site. When you take the photos you can post a thread on the boards letting fans know, also.

It changes based on the number of posts you have made.
