    Howard @ Macon

Twas the nite 'fore the big playoff game, and through the Dyer house, everyone was talking smack about playoff rematches, everyone except...Coach Dyer mouse Upsets happened many times before, mouse Dyer thought..with a grin. he was hopin these Chattabogie boys left that choo choo horn on the bus, last time they heard one....they didn't win. He was the talk of the town, that little Dyer mouse, If the Tigers win the state... its on to the White House. There he would meet the President, and be on the cover of Time, Lose to Howard or Trousdale, and next years raise won't be a dime. That hated Jacket is looming, its hard not to look down that playoff road, the smell of Queenbees' burgers, and a son wearing Smith Co. black and gold. "Fear not," say his loyal mouse fans, "you can't be beat" they say at the pep Rally, We've already printed shirts and hats "Macon County 2003 State Champs!," here is your portion of the tally. Coach Dyer mouse shivered and shook as the pressure began to grow, He could see visions of Tiger fumbles, and a buffet of "Bubba's Big mouth Crow" He was sweating and puffing ...and then he saw it........the scoreboard, He couldn't believe his Tigers were beaten...... then his head hit the floor. He felt woozy and dazed as he rose to his feet, did an angry fan hit him, was it the bowl of chilli Dyer mouse just had to eat? He stood for a second as he began to wonder about his team, "Whew" he said loudly, ......it was only a dream! So onward, upward these high flying Tigers will go, and the dreams of making their first BlueCross Bowl. Good luck to the Tigers...Hopin' the Trousdale Co. Yellow Jackets meet you again next week.
  2. Del, Searched and searched.....I did find another thing we agree on. No official should call a game at his/her alma mater. (Nor should they have the desire too.)
  3. Ah Del, Sorry for the misquote or lack of in my previous post to you. One thing we do agree on is that the TSSAA really screwed up the whole Gallatin issue plain and simple. I hope something is done to ensure this does not happen again---to anyone. That is about as far as we see eye-to-eye. Yes, there have been some very good suggestions in previous posts by OTHER members regarding solutions to officiating problems....still didn't see any solutions originating from you! Your claims of "Ref Fixing" or "home cooking" is out there.....c'mon...you took pictures of a ref who was talking to a coach in the stands....big deal Were you privy to the conversation? Doubt it. You are just like many of your other compadres in the media biz....assume whatever it takes to make your story. Perhaps you should write for the National Enquirer or some other far fetched mag. As for the Mr. Climer reference, he is absolutely one of the worst sports writers on the face of the earth...he writes for the Tennessean. Sorry, I should have understood that Midstate news doesn't make it up the mountain on a current basis. Not much to write about on that mountain huh? I guess that is a reason for your far-fetched stories of how the refs huddled to plot against your team. Get real. These guys make mistakes and it is part of the game. Every single offensive play is designed to score a touchdown if it is run correctly...guess somebody makes a mistake and doesn't block the right guy on occasion, wouldn't you agree? Oh no, it must be the refs fault. Give these guys some credit. When do you determine that the refs did a good job? When they only called what YOU saw? When they didn't call a touchdown back on your team? Yeah, you are going to see things from the stands that are not seen on the field of play....but remember....that street goes both ways
  4. Queenie, You have got to be kidding me....Hartsville needs new facilities??? There is not a field anywhere around the area that even compares to the plushness of the creekbank...you may not like it because (usually) you leave it very disappointed. The Tobacco Bowl used to be "THE GAME" played in Tennessee, before the current system, and where was it? Yep, the Creekbank!!! Maybe a new school was needed but the football facilities are some of the best around.
  5. Lincoln County attitude that they are great, (which they are really good) and they can't be beat......will cost them at some point in the playoffs. Don't know who nor when, but they will not make the finals.....book it!
  6. Oakland...are you true to your word? Do you back-up what you say and admit when you were wrong??? If not, then you are in the same boat as this board. They verified his eligibility twice and now act as if that never hapened even though the information provided is correct...no attempt to cover-up anything was made by Gallatin
  7. LOL Queenie Couldn't help but notice all the purple and gold in your icon and the resemblance to a yeller jacket. Got to give it to ya on the Gallatin comment....I don't know if that "manly" board has enough brains or testosterone between them all to do what is right. My heart goes out to those kids and coaches. By the way....Go Owls Can't believe I actually said that...please take note.
  8. Hey Queenbee.....I've got a question. Your icon looks much much more like a yellow jacket than an owl. Could it be that you are a closet Yellow Jacket fan?????? P.S. Is that a burger flippin' spatula in your hand???? LOL just kidding... Also, what are your thoughts on this whole Gallatin fiasco???
  9. To all Greenwave fans, It dosen't help one bit, but I just wanted to say I am behind you 110%. I am not connected in any way to the Green Wave, but this is a travesty that goes beyond the city limits of Gallatin. To any program in the state, please flood Ronnie Carter's desk with documentation in the future regarding a transfer. I hope there is a lawyer in Gallatin that will take this case for nothing....and sue his A_ _!! Have some integrity Carter. You were wrong in this case and you know it. You just don't have the gonads to stand up to the other schools which have been penalized right or wrong in the past so you and your board had to save face. The kids and coaches put too much work, blood, and sweat in to deserve this treatment. I don't mean for this to be a personal attack on Mr. Carter....but if this is the way things are going to be handled, there needs to be a change; either in the leadership of the organization or an update to the transfer process and rules. Gallatin players keep your heads high and take this as one of life's tough lessons in which you must pick yourself up and keep going. Best of luck to each and everyone of you, especially the senior class. Again, I am profoundly sorry this has occured. Keep fighting!!!
  10. When a team goes from 1A to 3A and makes the semi-finals twice....its hard to say they are down. This team is young and the talent is not quite as impressive as in the recent past, but look out, they will only get better as they get older. Trousdale has made the playoffs for 16 straight years now. How many other small, public schools can claim that success????? When you have the smallest enrollment of any 3A school......I'd say their track record is quite impressive.
  11. Take note queenbee, this doesn't happen often (cheering for the nite chickens) As promised I'll keep it clean..... Twas the nite of ghosts and goblins, a night said to be scary, dat night chicken comin' to P-town, better beware coach Perry. This owl bird can run and maybe even throw, the defense is awesome, can you run on them???? I don't think so! They say the Panther plays dirty and often very mean, maybe some yellow laundry for you, laying on that field of green. Those Portland fans are always talkin' smack, and proud to hear that whistle blow, funny what their concession stand serves up on their home side "chicken, or a portion of big mouth crow"! Yep, this is a big game, its outcome will go far, you can come watch the Owls in the playoffs next week, or drown your sorrows at Bubba's Panther Bar. So onward, upward, Macon, Smith, Trousdale, and Livingston too, Coach Perry gonna be so mad, his face change color from red to purple to a final shade of train track blue! Go Owls and Beat that Panther like you have so many times before, theres nothing more entertaining than listening to Perry curse the refs, everytime you score!

    Bands

To answer the question quite simply....No, there is no Rule regarding bands playing during action of the football game in high school. You will notice that the college and pro ranks DO have a rule regarding this matter. This point has been addressed with ref associations across the state because some crews were not allowing it and others were. Hopefully, by now, everyone is on the same page as there clearly IS NOT a rule against bands playing during the down.
  13. You guys are absolutely correct. The TSSAA should have a backbone and admit its error in this case.....if indeed it is an error....which I don't think there is any reason acoording to the by-laws to indicate that the kid should be declared ineligible. This is an absolute travesty if this stands. I am not a fan of the Green Wave, but I'll be darn if this same thing couldn't happen to any school in the state. What are coaches to do now if a player transfers to their program..TSSAA says he is eligible ...twice...are you to ASSUME they will stand behind their declaration???? Have some credibility TSSAA....Ronnie Carter do the RIGHT thing for a change!
  14. Tis the nite before the next region game, no its not Hartsville, the mood is not the same. But all through the land many would love to see the Tiger beat, you can forget it folks, this one is over before you take your seat. The Tiger will run, the Tiger will throw, Can the boys from Jackson Co. hold 'em under 50? I don't think so. So if its been a hard week and you've nothing to do, Go watch the Tiger win for sure, an easy nite for the big blue. No I'm not converted from a fan of the mighty Jacket, Just letting my Macon friends know...when a good season comes along...boys you better grab it!!! You are having one heck of a year, they have been far and few between, Enjoy it while it lasts....the playoffs can be mean. To all you Tiger players that I have seen grow from kids to now, I am very proud of each of you, I hope you win the region crown.
  15. In regards to the Portland lack of sportsmanship.... I am in a position to see many various teams play throughout the midstate and to be honest, over the past few years, no other team that I have observed has declined in the area of sportsmanship like Portland. Every team has their "bad eggs" who get into trouble on a routine basis. However, the sportsmanship demise at Portland has gone far beyond a few problem players. It all comes down to team leadership, be it the captains of the team and/or obviously the coaches, as to the overall sportsmanship displayed. Its like a growing cancer within the program, it seemingly gets worse and worse every year. I have not seen Portland yet this year, I only note the many comments I have heard this season. I did see Portland at Smith County last season in week 10, and can tell you that I have never been so disappointed in the behavior of a team. Smith county won by a significant margin and you would have thought the grinch had stolen the last candy cane from Portland. They were outraged at Smith Co. for "running up" the score. They were simply outplayed in all respects. As for bad calls by refs...it happens. They are human and will make mistakes, but to lose control of your emotions shows a lack of maturity be it the coaches or the players. Penalties or judgement calls are an element of the game...deal with it respectfully and go on. I'm not on here to bring the Panther down, but I will say that if the problem isn't removed soon, they will inevitably bring themselves down. A program with the tradition that they have should not allow that to happen. Turn it around folks.
  16. Cannon county eagerly awaiting Girls basketball season.... Jackets take this one BIG Jackets 48 Cannon 8
  17. Well, Haven't been here, its been more than a week, To be quite honest, I felt pretty bleak. To all my friends up Macon county way, I've eaten many servings of crow, seems like 10 just today. My humble pie, it ain't very good, but I'm taking my lumps like a man should. To the Tigers of 2003, you aren't like the teams before you...you win when you should, Come playoff time it all starts over, you better be just as good. My hats off to you, you are doing great Me thinks its a little early 'bout talkin of goin' to "The State". This Jacket is young we know, we still hold our expectations high, In the first round this year, it will be the Tiger with a bye. But lookout down the road little Tiger, there will be some trouble sure, Playoff time is comin', and the Jacket needs a depression cure. We on the creek are shouting for ya now, to take the region first "no buzz", "no hoot", "no train horn".... with an annoying little burst. Hopefully we'll see you again somewhere down the line, maybe in the quarterfinals???? Man, I'll give you this game, if the playoffs could be mine!!!!! Congrats.
  18. Mrstigerfan, "sorry" to ruffle your feathers....I mean no harm. the word itself at least is much better than many of the four letter words I've heard directly this week from some of my Macon county....hmmm...friends. Its all about the kids in this game, make no mistake, they all have worked hard. We (myself included) get all wrapped up in the fray before the game. Its all in fun, no matter the outcome, win or lose, I'll still be friends with those who have been lets say......derogatory! I did not imply the players were "sorry" I simply referred to a certain portion of their faithful followers. O.K. Go Jackets!!!!
  19. Dear Macon County Fans, You have talked smack all week now the time has come, Bring all you got to the creek, yeah, "you gonna get some" The boys in blue, I know many of you well, I saw you play as wee pees, have you improved? Time will tell. The Jackets are young and a little wet behind the ear, Still better watch out for that stinger, they'll knock you on your rear. So come down from that ridge and out of the hills, Clint will be serving up your "trash mouth hangover" pills. Its been a generation since you came to play, 'bout time you did somethin' to back up what you say. All the words here, and those spoken hence, don't mean a thing when they enter that fence. So go Jackets and keep your head high, There ain't nothin' better, than to see that sorry tiger cry. Jackets 27 Tigers 14
