    USJ and JCS?

As a Fayette Academy fan, I am forced to pull for USJ in this one. That way, Fayette will finish 2nd and have home field through the first round and maybe the second as well if Trinity beats West Carroll again. However, I would not be terribly upset if JCS was to win this game. That way we could go up to South Fulton in the first round and people like SFFan in their places. Hey man, you had a great season, Congratulations. You finished with an 8-2 record, but you didn't play any teams from Region 7, unlike most teams in Region 8. If you replace some of those ######-poor Kentucky teams with USJ, JCS, FA, or TCA, then you are looking at a 5-5 record. You still finished 5-1 in your Region. That is really good considering you play in the worst region in the state of Tennessee.................not year in and year out, but with Bruceton down this year, so is the region.
  2. I will give Franklin Road credit. #1 was very quick and our defense had trouble keeping up with him. I do think the FRA defense was thrown off by the speed of back-up quaterback Feathers. Bodiford and Thomas aren't the only two on this team that can run. And I think Linksys predicted it..........#1 got absolutely hammered by Bodiford on a run down the Fayette sideline. Thomas didn't gain 100 yards for, I believe, the first time this season(he finished with 95) but he had over 100 yards called back on penalties.
  3. Mostly everyone agrees that Region 5 is the toughest in Class 1A. Region 7 is arguably number two from top to bottom. This week Franklin Road Academy travels to Fayette Academy in a very intriguing match-up. I have heard FRA loves to air it out and everyone knows FA lives on the ground. It's Middle vs. West/The Pass vs. The Run/Region 5 vs. Region 7. Any predictions and/or comments on this game and comparison of the teams and Regions.
  4. Actually Fayette is 3-1 in the Region.
  5. Greenfield will not UPSET Gleason, but they will beat Gleason. How can you say that a winless team can get upset. Greenfield is definately the favorite and will win this game by 3 touchdowns. Halls will beat Lake County. Simple as that. By at least 20. Bruceton will get back to losing against Chester County. Last but definately not least. The battle for the Region Championship. Weak schedule or not, with the exception of one game South Fulton has taken care of business week in and week out. The players can't control their schedule and who would have thought that all of those teams would have fallen off this season. The one team that SF did lose to was a very good team. Although West Carroll hasn't played anyone as good as Dresden they have had some competition playing teams in a much stronger Region 7. I think this will be a very good, high scoring game. Final Score: South Fulton 44/West Carroll 38
  6. How did this thread go from the TCA/FA game to English class. Anyway, on The Big Ones, 50 percent are picking Trinity; I'd like to hear from some of those people, everybody who has responded picked Fayette
  7. Trinity may not have played that bad last week. Did anybody see the game. I heard Rosemark is much better this year. I think Fayette scrimaged them this year, I don't know what happened with that though. Either way, this should be a good one.
  8. Although this has never been a big game, or for that matter a competitive game, in the past; this game has a huge outcome this year in Region 7. If Fayette wins this game they have pretty much sealed up second place and home field advantage in the region. JCS would then finish 3rd and Trinity 4th. However, if Trinity wins then there would be a 3 way tie for second; in which, JCS would finish 2nd, then probably Trinity at 3rd and Fayette at 4th. If Fayette wins this game, but JCS upsets USJ in week 10 then JCS would finish 1st, followed by Fayette, USJ, and Trinity. Things would get really crazy if TCA were to beat FA and JCS were to knock off USJ. Don't forget both FA and JCS still have to play Perry Co. The Vikings of PC could still factor into the playoff hunt with wins over both teams. Anyone elses thoughts on this game between Fayette and Trinity and/or the way Region 7 will finish this year.
  9. DHBB..........I ever heard you say it not once, but twice. You continue to say that Westview would struggle in 7A. I agree with that. You say that USJ and JCS would beat Westview bad, and Fayette Academy and Trinity would probably beat them. Well if JCS would beat Westview bad, then I think Fayette probably would too considering that Fayette beat JCS Friday night 28-16 at JCS for the Eagles Homecoming. Also, Trinity only lost to USJ by 7.
  10. I will agree with SFFan on one thing...........The Greenfield players have a horrible attitude. Last year when they were destroyed in the 1st round of playoffs they all started taking cheap shots on the FA players. Nobody listened when Fayette tried to explain what was going on. Finally, someone else has noticed how they play. OK, now I can say how idiotic everything else you say is. South Fulton is 6-1 because they haven't played anybody. Region 8 is very weak this year and SF still haven't played West Carroll and Halls who have the best chance of winning Region 8 this year, along with South Fulton. Furthermore, they haven't played but one good team out of conference and Dresden beat them 26-0 I believe. I think South Fulton would have the right to talk when they beat Halls and West Carroll and win their Region. Then they could play. And maybe you could back up what you said about West Carroll being weak because they lost to Trinity. By the way, Trinity only lost to USJ by 7 last week.

    TCA/USJ

I saw that USJ beat Trinity 14-7 on Friday and was thought it must have been a good game. Did anyone happen to go to this game and, if so, would care to comment on it.
  12. Perry County beat Trinity last year and made it to the playoffs as the 4th team in Region 7 behind USJ, Fayette, and JCS. They lost to Bruceton in the first round. Their chances of making the playoffs this year is right between slim and none, but closer to none. Their game with Trinity every year decides on who will make it in as the the fourth team in playoffs. Last year, they beat TCA and made the playoffs, this year they lost and will now have to beat probably JCS and Fayette Academy to get in(I don't really see that happening). Also, if Perry County was to make it to the playoffs they would have to make it to the 4th Round of Playoffs to play those "sweet" teams like CPA and Collinwood. They would have to play a Region 8 team in the First Round, probably West Carroll or South Fulton. If they were to get past them, they would have face Fayette Academy in the second round probably. Then they would have to face the winner of USJ and JCS in the third round. They would only play the likes of CPA and Collinwood in the state semifinals and they have a very tough road to get that far considering they probably won't make the playoffs in the first place. Also, a team doesn't have to recruit to be successful in Region 7. Fayette Academy has never recruited and they were the Region Runner-up last year, and probably will be this year as well.
  13. Monsterman...........First of all, Bruceton has made it to the 3rd round of playoffs since they went to Region 8. They didn't seem to have any trouble beating JCS and Fayette Academy the last two years. Also, not all the private schools do recruit. I played for one of those schools you mentioned and I can guarantee that we did not and do not recruit players. In fact, that was the reason we left Division 2. But your right, it doesn't seem that USJ lost any step, they proved that with only beating Trinity by 7 Friday night.
  14. I think I remember Ross getting hurt in the first game of last year's season, and the Bruins still did pretty good. When Fayette play USJ, Ross didn't make any unbelievable throws that stunned the crowd or anything. He just got the ball out to the receivers and let them go. I do believe it is a loss to lose someone of the caliber of Ryan Ross, but they are still a very good team.
  15. Ok, Bodiford was lining up some at tailback earlier in the season. However, lately they have been using him at receiver a lot. He hasn't really had the season this year that he had last year because defenses are keying on him for obvious reasons. Winstin Thomas has really stepped it up in his place though. Thomas is averaging right at 200 yards a game rushing and his lowest performance was against Middleton when he had 2 50 yard runs called back and didn't dress out in the second half. I don't think the key will be JCS stopping the option though. I was at Bishop Byrne last week and I will say this, JCS doesn't need any help stopping the option, they do a fine job of that. I think the key will be Fayett'e defense. Last year, the Vikings scored 2 touchdowns on defense in this game. This year, they are just having trouble tackling. JCS's running backs run very hard and that could be a problem for FA. Either way I expect this game to be much closer than it has been the past few years.
  16. I think that question is obvious. It will once again be USJ. Although after last year it looked as if Fayette was closing the gap, USJ won the game this year pretty convincingly proving they are still in charge of the Region.
  17. I definately think that Fayette Academy and JCS should be the game of the week in 1A in the West. Just like in years past these teams are playing for home field in the first round of the playoffs. Ironically, the home team has won this game in years past. This year it will be held at JCS. This year its even more important because with no dominant team in Region 8, the winner of this game may be looking at a fairly easy road to the 3rd Round of the playoffs; whereas, the loser would have to play USJ in Round 2. Although this should be a great game to decide the 2nd Place Team in Region 7, it has not been in the past. Two years ago JCS won 42-14 and last year Fayette one 37-7. I believe that this year the teams are more evenly matched than they have been and I am expecting a much better game this year.
  18. Well I know this is gonna sound really slow as opposed to the messages that people have left on this post talking about 4.3's and even a sub 4 but the number I am about to throw out were done by electronic timing and are completely legit. Collin Bodiford, the senior QB at Fayette Academy was timed at a 4.45 40 over the summer. And if you want to ask what has he done on the field, just ask Hardin County who he ran for 365 yards in a game against last year.
  19. You have no clue what you are talking about. I played for FA, my brother plays for FA now, I know for a fact that they do not recruit, that is why they left D2 and went to Class A
  20. Last year this game was the deciding game for the Region 7 Championship. The only thing uglier than the game was the weather as USJ pulled out a 12-0 victory on a wet field at USJ. This year the Bruins travel to Somerville. Any predictions and/or comments on this game.
  21. I am not so sure that USJ and especially JCS get the best players in Jackson, I mean I know if I was a top high school football player in the Jackson area I would be goin to JCM or South Side. Anyway, even with the recruited players they are not invincible. Yes, typically they finish 1st and 2nd in district; but, last year JCS finished 3rd to USJ and FA(a team that doesn't recruit). So it isn't impossible for non-recruiting teams to compete.
  22. I believe that mhsalumni's perception of the game is completely opposite of what I saw. Even without Bodiford at tailback, the starting back Thomas was averaging almost 200 yards a game coming in. He is a very dangerous runner, which Chester County saw with the opening drive of the second half. Fayette is loaded with dangerous runners (Bodiford, Thomas, and the sophomore Feathers/#10). Fayette's line possesses good technique because of well coaching. (Kennedy is also the offensive line coach) However, they were just a little too small to push back CC's D-line with consistency. And no, Fayette is not in the top 10 this year, but they practically lived there last year and will probably compete for a Region Championship again this year.
  23. Last I heard Bodiford had his 40 time down to a 4.42 or something like that. That was a while ago though, it may be better now.
  24. Check that, Halls lost to JCS last week by 50. That's even worse, JCS finished 3rd last year in Region 7
  25. The Bruceton Willis-less's are not down a little bit this year. They are down a lot-a-bit. South Fulton wins this game. I mean even Halls beat Bruceton. The same Halls team that lost by 50 to USJ last week. (Doesn't look good for Region 8 come playoff time.)
