Let me just say this about the line. I would give anything to have another year on this team because behind this line there COULD be a lot of damage. We are averaging about 250-270 across the board. If nothing else it will be one of the biggest lines we have ever had. We will have 3 three year starters with Josh McIntyer, Lindsey Roberts, and JC Clonts. Alan Webster will start one guard and the other is up for grabs. Other possible impact players on the line will be Dameon Allen, Mike Richman, Hal Wright, and young guys like Reece Davis, Cole Webster, and Garrett Payne. It will be one of the deepest lines we have had in quite some time. Anthony and Weston will have a fun time running behind these guys. And on the whole recruiting thing. I for sure was not recuited and I know that last year we had about 18 different guys start and all had been there since Middle School or before except one or two. In the past four years I can only think of maybe two players that were not from TN so you can argue all day about it with me and I will always win.

That might be the stupidest comment I have ever heard. An all-star game is totally different than running a actual team. The coaching staff has a month to get this team together and get it running like they like it. I can promise you that there is not another coaching staff in this area that prepares harder for a game then Boyds. There might be equals but none will surpass them. Please name another team that has been playing in December the past three years then i will say you have a good argument.

What is the difference in 1 or 2 weeks. Boyd and Tyner play week 10 and the playoffs start the next week. Your comment makes no sense because if the Tyner players are not tired by week 10, then they will be fine entering into the playoffs. I know first hand that Boyd has lost a lot from last years team. I am with Coach Akins every night and I am constantly getting updates on how the team is progressing. Do not believe for one second that Boyd will be down. The upcoming seniors have felt the joys of winning the State Championship and the pain of losing it twice. Replacing the whole back field will be hard especially Matt Henley. Filling in for me, Drew Akins #11, will be Weston Perry who has played a considerable amount of time in blow out games and shown great promise. Matt Peardon #23 will be replaced by Anthony Hathaway, who as Dad/Coach Akins says has the potential to be better than Peardon. The defense has some large question marks and a considerable amount of inexperience, but are also under one of, in my opinion, one of the greatest coaching staffs in Tennessee and will have hopefully hit stride by season time. If there are anymore questions about Boyds team in 2005 ask, I should know.

Are you kidding me? you are not going to pay any attention to the Times Free Press' poll which includes the votes of many sports writers, but you are going to bring up the Stump on Sports poll. Haha. i love the job Stump on Sports does but you are just looking at the information that you want to look at. and you are very wrong in saying that the TFP is the only poll with Boyd above all these schools. all but one of the computer rankings i have looked at have Boyd above Ooltewah along with Tyner, Red Bank, etc. So everything you have say has become stupidity to me.

The fact is that even if we would try to play Ooltewah it would never happen. Why in the world would Ooltewah, a 5A school, schedule a team like us, a 1A school. That is pure stupidity. There would be nothing for Ooltewah to win. If they did win, big deal it is against a 1A school. If they didn't win, wow they lost to a 1A school. Granted a lot of people would love the see the game and trust me a lot of players would want to play in it, but Coach Gatewood would have to be stupid to schedule that kind of game. I am #11 of boyd and i can tell you first hand we didn't play our best game against East Ridge. We have to give East Ridge credit, they play their butts off. But we probably played the worst 2nd half we have played since my freshman year. They caused some problems for us but we caused our own problems too.

last night was a very strange game for us at boyd buchanan. we came out in the first and i promise i had not seen us play much better than we did. we should have scored twice in the first but i made the mistake of throwing the ball to the wrong team. a big play pretty much broke our spirits. we lost our mindset entering the second quarter. our offense lost the battle of the line and our defense lost the passion we had played with all year. during halftime dad (coach akins) gave us a talk i hadnt seen since my freshmen year when we went 6-6. we then came out in the second half and scored quickly and our defense made a huge stop. that is when varsity players were taken out. we got humbled in the second quarter and were shown that we werent where we wanted to be yet but coming out in the second half and stepping up really impressed me and the rest of the team.

Also, this is hearsay but I was told by my father who had talked to coach Pack formerly of CPA and he did say that Wooden tore his ACL. How factual that is, I have no idea. It shouldnt matter to the teams in the east though because they wont have to face them till the championship game. until somebody gets there then they can worry about it. Drew Akins

My name is Drew Akins. I am privilaged and lucky to play quarterback for boyd. I am very biase because of my friendship with matt peardon but there is not anyone running back in the state in 1A or even up to probably 3A or 4A i would rather have that Matt. He is a threat in so many ways. He makes our passing game what it is. How in the world can you say Matt isnt the best running back in 1A? He ran for 160 yards against a very good defense in the biggest game of the year. He is the best in my mind and i wouldnt have anyone else besides him.

KRP, Drew Akins. How are you? i am great a little sore. i would like to know what you ment by saying i didn't like to get hit. I did take a couple of hard hits but i got up after everyone of them. I would like to think i showed class by getting "worried" about number 65 when he went down. I also believe I showed that I am not a one man team but a TEAM working together to WIN. SP you played great. great year.

this is drew akins. i usually dont say anything on here about other teams but i am choosing to do it this one time. i am not sure why. south pitt is the best team defensively we have faced all year. the defense kept the game extremely close. to those who say that south pitt lost because of turnovers, please check the stats and see also that south pitt's only score was off my turnover just before the half. so take aways the points off turnovers. it is hard to win with no points on the board (10-0 score without turnovers). so everybody get over this game it is over and look to next week, not the third round of the playoffs. there is 7 weeks till then. both teams have to make it that far to play again. best of luck to south pitt and i hope to see you again at boyd in the third round.

hey boyd people, this is your quarterback, Drew. Please do this one thing for me if you are going to be on here. dont say anything that is going to get the other team fired up in anyway. i will tell anybody that we have the best fans in chattanooga. dont disprove me by getting on her and making us as a team look bad. let the other teams talk. we need to keep our mouths shut because the last thing we want our school to be known for is a dirty talking, dirty playing school.
