  1. OR finally gets on the board, and Rhea County answers, only to botch the PAT. OR wins 7-6.
  2. I'll give 1-5A through 4-5A a swing: 1-5A - Morristown West, David Crockett, Daniel Boone, Tennessee, Cocke Co. 2-5A - Sevier Co., West, Powell, Halls, Knox. Central 3-5A - Lenoir City, Clinton, Karns, Campbell Co., William Blount 4-5A - East Hamilton, McMinn Co., Walker Valley, Rhea Co., Ooltewah, Soddy-Daisy Significant competitive imbalance between Regions 2 and 3. I could see Powell swapping with Campbell County or William Blount.
  3. The physicality is definitely there, and aside from a few penalties, they played a mistake-free football game. There were a number of low tackles on Rodgers, but I don't think any of them were "dirty". Honestly, that's how you get him on the ground. I'd love to know what their third down conversion rate was in this one, because it was back-breaking; Powell had them in a number of difficult 3rd down situations, especially in the second half, and they converted most of them. West only punted once, which was on their first drive. It just felt like they controlled the game, for the most part, and Powell never really made them uncomfortable. Hopefully Wheeler will be healthy enough to play in two weeks. Shouldn't need him in round 1, but they'll need him against Sevier County. In some ways, losing Wheeler in the secondary was a bigger blow in this game because he is one of their better cover guys with his speed.
  4. Got tackled awkwardly in the second quarter, and never returned. Looked like a nasty ankle injury, but not sure of the severity.
  5. West wins 30-18. Two big kick returns in the first half, and West's 3rd down passing in the second half were the differences in this one. Hopefully Wheeler is okay. Gonna be a tough playoff road for the Panthers without him.
  6. Powell with the TD, but it'll come back for holding. Panthers with a 4th and long here with 1:24 to play.
  7. Huge TD pass for West on 3rd and long. Powell's secondary has been torched on 3rd down all night. West leads 30-18 with 338 to play.
  8. Three and out for Powell with 5 min left. West gonna try to run the clock out.
  9. Powell drops an INT in the end zone, and West is able to tack on another FG. West leads 23-18 with 630 to play.
  10. The blocked PAT at the beginning of the game is looming large.
  11. Powell answers with a long drive and another Rodgers TD run. 2-pt conversion comes up just short. West leads 20-18 with 2 seconds left in the 3rd.
  12. Long drive for West to open the 3rd qtr, which ends in a West FG. Rebels lead 20-12 halfway through the 3rd.
  13. West will receive the second half kickoff. Stooksbury has a good leg, and he gets a lot of touchbacks, but I'd think about the pooch.
  14. My goodness, Clinton looks like they've given up, and we are still in the first half.
  15. Wild season for Heritage. When they win, they win big. When they lose, they get crushed.
  16. Huge drive by Powell to end the half, aided by a roughing the passer call that gave Powell a free play, which the Panthers turn in to 3 points. West leads 17-12 at the half.
  17. Another big kick return by West sets them up at the Powell 9, and they pay it off quickly. The return game for the Rebels has been the difference in this one. West leads 17-9 with just over a min to play in the half. Wheeler went out on an awkward tackle the previous drive. Not sure that we'll see him back.
  18. Big kickoff return for West sets them up at the Powell 12, and they pay it off 6 plays later. West leads 10-9 with about 3 min left in the half.
  19. Long Powell drive ends in a short FG. Panthers lead 9-3 with 630 to go in the half.
  20. West gets across midfield, but has to punt. They pin Powell deep, and the Panthers go three and out. Great starting field position for West on their second drive, but it ends in a FG. Panthers lead 6-3 at the end of the 1st qtr.
  21. Rodgers with a long TD run on the 3rd play of the game. PAT was blocked. Panthers lead 6-0 less than a min into the game.
