  1. Brandon Jackson, LB, Briarcrest has some Div. 1 offers on the table
  2. Saw that on TSSAA.org. Webb with 1 yd of total offense. ECS defense a wall in the 1st half.
  3. MBA takes Baylor in a game closer because it's two weeks in a row for these two. I think McCallie can exploit BA's defense and pass on them to win a close one. MBA looks to not allow MUS four straight wins against them, especially being shut out this season. I think the home-field helps and the defense will hold for MUS as they squeak by in a last second win. CBHS will have a tough matchup vs. McCallie who they haven't played this year. I think CBHS continues to be physical on both sides of the ball and pushes past McCallie. MUS vs. CBHS and I think CBHS will pound on the Owls and slip by them for Gold. I think CBHS is the better of these two, even though MUS's discipline on defense makes them tough. However, some key things could happen on either side of the ball: If CBHS can get pressure on Parks and puts some good hits on him, it will make a big difference. If Harris isn't effective and MUS contains him, it will be another low-scoring affair and a turnover or special teams play may make the difference. Should make for a great game either way.
  4. Yes, we know the almighty Maryville team has been there and done that. But don't underestimate the Wildcats from Melrose. They will be ready, not intimidated by the situation like you think. Since you're too lazy to look it up, I did - they actually won in 1996 and '98. And how do you get intimidated by the lack of fans someone doesn't bring? You must not know much of anything about Melrose football - they have some of the truest fans around. Orange Mound will definitely come out and fully support their Golden Wildcats. Be ready for the Maroon and Gold!
  5. You know very little about Melrose, the players or coaches, and yet you know they won't be as prepared or well-coached as Maryville? Come on. And get them mad at each other? Coach Ingram and his staff will be definitely get his team ready for next Saturday's match-up. They have been pushing to get through the semifinal hurdle of Hillsboro the past two years and have finally done it. It should be a very good game, one I've been waiting for years to happen.
  6. 1A - ? vs ? 2A - ? vs ? 3A - Greenbrier vs. Fulton 4A - Maryville vs. Melrose 5A - Franklin vs. Riverdale
  7. Actually, Lawhorn, their top receiver, has committed to Ole Miss.
  8. Thanks, Slash. This week's matchup of BCS vs. MUS will definitely be a tough one. And, yes, I believe they greatly deserve their #2 Dandy Dozen ranking, possibly #1. They have plenty of options on Offense to give any team a fit. And their Defense flies to the ball on every play. I think too many people are seeing that win vs. CBHS and not seeing how good MUS really is. It should be a battle up front between two determined and talented teams. It's what high school football is all about.
  9. HAHA - Well, at least the second half of your statement is true. But steal your signals? In no way did that happen. Where did you hear that? And steal your plays? Those are Oklahoma's offensive plays so let's think where you first got them.
  10. I'll tell ya, our players really came to play last night, offense, defense, and special teams. It was an all-around great game for the team and several players: Ryan Acuff 129 yds rushing 1 TD; Bram Cannon 1 TD receiving, 1 TD rushing, 2 INTs; Joseph Crone 12+ tackles, many for loss, 1 INT of a screen pass on the CBHS 10 yd line; the other 2 INT by Terio Franklin & Boo Lawler. So many others, just a total team effort. CBHS will be back with a vengeance, but last night was the Saints' night. So many doubters, SO MANY! AWESOME is the feeling. And, yes, Melrose is very good and played that game well, but we had our opportunities in that one. Good luck to CBHS and I hope they do well the rest of the season.
  11. What happened last night for Collierville to allow Cordova's RB to rush for 370 yds and 5 TDs? Collierville seemed to be playing pretty well this year, gearing towards region matchups. Did they just look past the Wolves?
  12. Lighthouse Christian is in Millington, right outside of Memphis.
  13. I'll tell ya, that 71% who picked Houston haven't seen White Station in action. They will put up some points, they are better than last year. Another game that might end up close this week is Hamilton and Collierville. If C-town doesn't put them away early on, they could be crying at the end. Hamilton's got talent all over and something to prove after all the past year's dirt.
  14. What classification are they moving to and what region will they play in? What teams?
  15. Gotcha. Thanks for the correction and follow-up.
  16. Calloway County, KY. They are pass-heavy so it should test our secondary. And if you want to go down there, we may can get together for it. We can see b/c I have to see about tickets first.
  17. Slash, I can't remember his name, but Warner has a big-play receiver and another who does his job in their timing routes. Houston will be better than last year and this week will tell how much better. Germantown will beat Whitehaven handily, 28-8. Also, Bolton is good this year, but I don't think they win the region hands down. Millington will have much to say about it, and we'll see how much this Friday night. Should be a great one as Millington is ranked high w/ that stable of backs guiding them. I know Coach NeSmith is looking to use the paper's lack of confidence in them for motivation. I see a tight, high-scoring affair: Bolton 35-31. Oh, and Auburn comes to Starkvegas next weekend. Are you planning on going to that one? I'm thinking of getting tickets.
  18. I was wondering a couple of things: First, what position/area does Wycheck help coach? Also, who's the playmaker this year? And I noticed Karl is getting reps at LB at UT. Pretty good start for him.
  19. Hey, Slash, how's Auburn treating ya? You going to the Bolton-Millington game this Friday? If we didn't have one, I'd be there. Should be a battle of ground attacks. Barnes vs. Haslett. Hope Bolton can slow Barnes better than Munford did - 250+, 5 TDS(+1 more on kickoff return). Though Munford's defense stinks. Looking at all the talk, I agree, Germantown is still the team to beat in 5A, but they better start clicking in the coming weeks. I do believe White Station can beat them this year. Warner's touch on those timing routes and Jordan running the football is any defenses nightmare. Houston looks to have improved somewhat. And will Bartlett bounce back anytime soon? Looks like losing Reed has put them in a hole that they really need to get out of. East is down, not anything like what everyone expected. MUS showed all their flaws in the Liberty Bowl Week Zero. The Owls are much improved this year. CBHS is a top team with THE toughest schedule in Memphis. They will lose to Brentwood Academy this week, then I believe they play Germantown the following week. Interesting matchup of the Red Devils lone loss last year. And on a side note, I noticed BA plays Independence High out of North Carolina, the top-5 nationally ranked school that Chris Leak played for. Be a game to travel to Nashvegas for, eh? Well, I'll get to some of the other teams and games later. And, yes, Melrose has reloaded with speed and talent (didn't hurt getting the Kirby High kid to transfer back from Oklahoma this year to start at TB). They can be beaten, though, as Briarcrest shot themselves in the foot a few times. Later guys.
  20. Who does Wycheck coach for?
  21. I had a friend who used to coach with Mahoney when he was an assistant. Munford's last three years, all under Mahoney, have had records of 0-10, 4-7, and 1-9. Those don't match up to what Munford fans are used to. It looked somewhat promising last year when they only lost to East in the playoffs by a touchdown. But a 1-9 campaign this year really hurts a program. Now, Munford's former coach, Darry Marshall, is there as principal and you know he's looking to rejuvinate the football program. He took Munford to the state championship while he was there, then left for Arkansas and got a state championship in his first year there. High standards, which is good for a program.
  22. From Mississippi, Jackson Prep is usually the best of the private schools, but private schools in Mississippi have never been that great compared to the ones in Tennessee. MUS consistently goes and plays Prep and beats them handily each year. Also, Picayune is good, but not my pick as consistently one of the top four in Mississippi. Louisville, Clarksdale, Moss Point, or Vicksburg Warren Central are traditionally better and have all won at least one state title.
  23. Thinking about that Super South League, the only way to really see how teams from different states stack up against each other is to schedule them. The best way, which would be impossible to do, is how the basketball and baseball teams do - schedule a tournament of sorts with teams from all around playing each other. It could be done with the past year's state champions playing each other or just traditional powers. With football this is impossible, but could you imagine: At Titans Stadium - South Panola vs. MBA Independence Charlotte vs. Germantown Camden County, Ga vs. Brentwood Academy Elder Cincinnati vs. Riverdale Wayne County, MS vs. Hillsboro Little Rock Central vs. CBHS Some national profile teams and some locally who are state champs in their respective states.
