  1. Coach Bledsoe is at Creek Wood, and has done a great job in building that program. There are just a lot of rumors about Dickson County/ Creek Wood football that I wish would just cease. The only certainty is that Coach Pearson is not the Head Coach and Coach Williams is the interim Head Coach. I just posted earlier that Coach Williams or Coach Bledsoe would get it done if they were the Head Coach at Dickson. Nothing more than that.
  2. big poppa, I commend you on your support of Dickson County football. Keep this in mind, with the budget problems in TN education, the days of going out and finding great coaches to fit certain programs are about over. Principals cannot make adjusments in teaching schedules like they used to. In a perfect educational system, we would all like to go out and name our coach in any sport and pay him what we want. As far as the coaching situation in Dickson County is concerned: Coach Bledsoe would do a great job in Dickson. Coach Williams would also do a great job in Dickson. Coach Daniel is happy with his role at Creek Wood. As a former Cougar myself, I played for Coach Bledsoe and know he can get the job done. I played with Coach Williams and he can get the job done. On top of that, I think the kids in Dickson would love playing for Williams and Bledsoe because they care about kids and work hard. They are great people on top of being good coaches. There are others on staff at Dickson County or Creek Wood that could get the job done also. I could name them all, but I do not want to memtion more names without their consent. There are other coaches from Dickson County all over the state that could get it done. I think that says a lot about the kids in Dickson County. They love football and want to compete at a high level. Whoever gets the job, will have big shoes to fill following Coach Pearson, a great coach in his own right. Big Poppa, I hope you continue your support of Dickson County football. Cougar Pride!
  3. Friendly Banter. I like it!

    Jefferson County

Odie, actually it takes 3 1/4 and 19 seconds to get to Dandridge from the 'Boro. Not the 3 1/4 you reported earlier. Sometimes the 840 split to Knoxville gets a little overcrowded after 5:00 pm. How are things in the 'Boro? Jeff county will always be a proud and solid program. Will they go back to the days of the veer when Ondrus was running the show from under center? Good athlete, what ever happened to him? I have seen him hit a $10 5 Wood about 275 yards! I thought he got into teaching and coaching. OUT!
  5. I believe that is illegal unless they are under the same roof and same administration as the high school. I venture a guess that is not the case here. I'm sure all the coaches in Region 5-3A would like to know what is going on over there.
  6. DC will not have any problem getting a quality coach. There are plenty quality, qualified, and deserving candidates "in house".
  7. Yes. Good coach, better person.
  8. Also, what most need to consider about the Dickson Job is that they have a great feeder program. I know their coach personally, Coach Holley, is doing a great job after taking over this past year. He is also a quality coach and a quality person. When the kids leave middle school, they will be prepared and treated the right way by Coach Holley.
  9. Good luck to the Cougars. Stackboy is right, Dickson is a very good program and a very good job. Whoever gets the job, will be working with hard working kids. Plenty of rumors who the coach will be, but if any one of them get the job, I'm sure they will get it done. The interim coach, Coach Williams is a quality coach and a quality person, and he will work hard in whatever capacity he is in.
  10. If it is true about Coach Pearson being out at Dickson County, good luck to him and he has been a great coach for a long time.
  11. Wardawg, I completely understand where you are coming from. Travel time to swap films will be tough. I guess I look at it like this, my opponent will have the same difficulties and lack of time as I and it will even out in the end. I always feel that I am going to outwork everyone anyway. I may not, but I like to feel that I do. As coaches, I think we all feel that there is not enough hrs in the day to prepare our teams. It will be interesting in June when we find out.
  12. As a coach, I do not mind the possibility of having to travel a little in the playoffs. In the regular season, a low budget, small rural schools can lose money. However in the playoffs, I will make 1/3 of the gate (home or away) just from making the playoffs. So that counter acts having to pay travel, also, buy the time playoffs roll around, most fall bills are paid and you know exactly what $$$$ you made during the regular season and what you are working with. Also, Playoffs should be treated as a special time for your players and program, so traveling during playoffs is ok in my mind. As far as a time for film swap, you just have to make a decision of missing College football on Saturday, or Pro football on Sunday, in order to break down film and have your staff meetings. It will be interesting to see what happens. Either way, some will be happy and some will be angry. Just play ball and let the cards fall as they may.
  13. Agree!! Playing the same teams in Football, Baseball, and Basketball will build up great rivalries just like in the 80's. I knew going into my high school career that I would be playing against the same kids all year long. I got to know most of them personally and it made it a great, clean rivalry. Where I coach now, we have to travel around 100 miles at least twice a year to play a "region" opponent. With playoff implications one beautiful, Friday night, we made $1600 at the gate. AWFUL because of distance. 3 teams that are in our baseball / basketball districts, but are not in our football region are a combined 87 miles away. It does not make sense for the small school districts. I may not know all the inside info on this Z plan, but I do know financially, and for rivalry sake, and for safety sake (less travel), it will benefit us in a huge way. Is anyone going to the Z plan meeting at Opryland Hotel, April 28?
  14. COUGAR PRIDE, All Hail! Whatever happens, good luck to the Cougars (alma mater). Good Luck to Coach Pearson if he stays or gos and to whoever his successor may be.
  15. Yes, Where did Coach Mizer go? He was only there a couple of years, right? Just wondering, we played them in the Maury County Jamboree last year and were sceduled to play them again in this year's jamboree. Info needed.
  16. Does anybody know what is going on in Dickson?
  17. Coach Beldsoe is doing an excellent job in getting Creek Wood off the ground. Creek Wood is a very nice place. Coach Beldsoe is a great man and very good to work with.
  18. And Odie would be one of those young, good coaches. What's up, Odie? We will see you guys in the fall. Tell Chenelle I said Hello. Dump! Out!
  19. Millington is pretty good. They hit the ball well and their 2nd baseman is a player. Good hands and a good hitter. We could not get him out this past weekend. We also played Bartlett and they are the best hitting team I have seen in some time. They were hitting Freshman and Sophomore pitching, but they had great swings. The Millington and Bartlett game should be a good one. I'm not sure where the game is: USA stadium takes a shot to get it out, but Bartlett plays on a very short porch. Many Bombs hit at Bartlett. Bo is a great guy, and treated us very well on our trip to Memphis.
  20. About the Fairview / CW preseason game: Both teams played hard and as if it really meant something. That says a lot about both teams. Both teams threw the ball around the yard and had a bad inning each. In the end, CW executed a perfect hit-and-run, but unfortunatley they missed the squeeze bunt on a great pitch by the Fairview pitcher and the runner at 3rd was picked off. The runner advanced to 2nd, and the next pitch was lined to right and the play at the plate was late and CW won 5-4 in time limited 6 inning game. Great game to watch even though it was only preseason. Fairview has live bats and the kid in centerfield can fly(#1). He hit a routine grounder to 1st and beat it out. I timed the play off the bat and the catch at first at: 4.21 sec and he beat it out easily. Fairview is going to be pretty good if they get the pitching they need. As far as the attitudes of both teams, they just played hard. I think both coaches wanted to prove their team could play. Fairview blasted CW pretty good last year and CW wanted to prove they can play with them, and they did. Gerry Bertier, I do not know what game you were watching by saying that CW does not look any better than last year. They look much better than last year. I think last nights game did exactly what it was supposed to do: both teams made each other better. Leave it at that. Good luck to both teams and maybe we will see both teams down the line in Region play. OUT!!!
  21. You've never seen DCA play if you think they are slow!
  22. Coachrop, voice of the Creek Wood Redhawks football / basketball-WQSE 1030 AM. Great knowledge of football and basketball. Very deserving of any accolades he may receive. Also, does a great job of hosting a Saturday coaches show for Dickson County. VOICE-you're the man. OUT!!
  23. Throw46, Contact DCA, they go to Ft. Walton Beach yearly for camp.
  24. coachrop, always in the "know" and on top of things! Tha' VOICE!! coachrop got no sleep last night. I hope he is on his game tonight. Should be a great game between MC and CW. Burney-can score at will. CW has many role players, while MC has good size also. Completely contrast in styles. Should be interesting.
  25. I don't think El Rey understands that we are having fun amongst great friends while at the same time predicitng how our tough district 10AA will play out. Eventually everyone on here will realize that we enjoy the ripping and pounding that we inflict on each other. It has been a part of our everyday lives since grade school with each other. Boy, we are getting old!! If anyone else wants to subject themselves to such harsh and cruel verbal punishment (enjoyment), jump right on in and give us your best shot. I have noticed that everyone that gets on here seems to have a passion, some bigger than others, about the school they represent. From that, enjoy it and have some fun. I don't think I have heard anyone talk about the coaching in 10AA. We have some great young coaches, along with some great players. Good luck coaches and players of district 10AA. OUT!!
