UTC is recruiting this area hard this fall. They have been in most if not all of the high schools in the area and have developed some relationships with the head coaches. Being at one of the games this year with a recruit, it appeared that their focus was up and down I-75 from Knoxville to Atlanta. Their were a few guys from the Carolinas and some from Miss and Ala. there. 2 qbs that were there were Phelps from Soddy-Daisy and Woodard from LFO. Also Trea Jackson wr from Soddy-Daisy was there.

Is it me? Or does it sound like you guys just keep rehashing/rehiring the same old coaches over and over? Maybe as someone said you need to think outside the box(county). Just a thought.

Well the church team won their first game Sat., 87-12, in 2-20 min. halves, with the clock running the whole time. Some of those players used to play at SD and some of the players were asked to play at SD, but........

Bud and Skunk, Someone told me once you 2 guys had class, and they were right. Although the game didn't turn out the way we wanted, it was a very nice atmosphere. From the restaurant before the game to the DB fans in line for tickets, everywere people were very nice. And all the time people talk about refs at away games......1 penalty in the whole game. They controled the game but let the kids play. And after the loose, you don't even think of the refs, that's how it should be. And I don't recall seeing much if any trash talking going on. Just play hard and shake hands after. Their coach really has the team focused, motivated, and disciplined.

MCHSGoTribe, I mentioned Hutchens first, he is an outstanding coach. I just wondered what definition of "Chatt area" we were using. I think he will have McMinn a region 2 powerhouse for sometime to come. Maybe even oust Oak Ridge next year from the top spot.

Coach Hutchins at McMinn has done an outstanding job in his first year, but Chatt. area? Mcminn is kind of stretching it. Jones at Central, I don't care who he's played this year. He's still playing isn't he? Aikens at Boyd, look at what he lost last year and is still rolling along. Turner at Tyner......year in-year out.

This should be some fun reading.......both teams call themselves "Tribe". I'm going with McMinn, region 2, in this one, but they will have to play their best. Put pressure on shotgun qb, before he let's go of it or your in trouble. Of course putting the qb in the shotgun gives the qb more time, it's amazing more teams don't do this!

Congrats to OR. This Soddy-Daisy fan is pulling for our region 2 brothers.

Marronandgray, All very good questions. Our regular kicker was hurt and our fullback, Paul Campbell, did an excellent job on punting and kickoffs. Congrats to DB on the win, however I have to pull for our region 2 teams, Oak Ridge and McMinn

Coach Scott Smith at Soddy-Daisy is the best def coach I have seen. His boys and coach won most of the games for SD. I know we didn't finish the way we wanted, but they played their hearts out and should be proud of their no quit effort. Coach Smith always has the def fired up and ready to play. Coach Smith will be a great head coach soon. He had some possibilites last year, but I'm sure he will be running the show soon, somewhere.

Tonight on Count Down To Signing Day, The 2 anchors told a story of the GA Athletic Association reviewing tape of a game and overturning a call by an official, and replaying the last 11 minutes of the game. I didn't catch the details of which teams and were they played, but I'm sure more of this will come out in the near future. Wow! What a can of worms, now everyone will want a "do over" every time a call goes against them.

Count Down To Signing Day validated my first post about this situation on their show tonight. They interviewed Bolden on the show. The 2 anchors talked about how other schools are now in the picture. Is the kid spoiled, maybe? Does he think schools should give him attention all the time?, probably. That's just the way it is now. If a program wants the kid on their team, they need to continue giving him face time or they will lose him. Do you think Al,Ga,Miami, quit recruiting him because he verbally committed-no. Do you think these schools are using the problems at TN against them-yes. With tv shows about recruiting on twice a week and Rivals and Insiders and all the other recruiting stuff, this is how kids get the big head. If Tn wants to stay in the picture, they need to quit thinking all they have to do is show up. Last I heard they need help on the d line, to stop somebody, anybody from running on them.

It's being reported that Bolden was upset that when he was in the hospital, UT never contacted him. Ga,Al,Miami,ect, ect , contacted him everyday. Demonte is shopping for a team that seems to care about him and not take him for granted. It sounds like Ga. and Al. are getting alot of his attention.

Back to DB vs SD........I understand that DB plays man coverage. Is that correct?

Purplepounder, I just read the last 2 pages to get caught up, and boom! Pounder shows up with a post that makes no sense, again! Do you read the threads before you pop in with a Central comment, or are you on a mission to post something about Central on every thread on coacht?

Wildmanfan, I knew from the post on the other thread that you were a sound and levelheaded person. The 2 penalties, one was pass interference, the other was unsportsmanlike on a player who said something after the pass interference. We thought the ball arrived and the defender stuck his hand in and knocked the ball out. He got beat but we thought he made a great recovery. We had called timeout and then the coach went on the field. I know you haven't said anything bad about your coach, after 9-1, they are nowhere to be found. We have some of the best fans I'v seen, at times we have had more fans on the road than the home team. We always travel and we have 2 busses going to DB, not counting all of the ones who will drive. I realize you guys want DB again, but not at our expense . Hopefully we can ruin your rematch plans. Good luck Region 2-5a

Wildmanfan, You had such a nice post on the "Can SD pull the upset" thread. You congratulated SD on a good regular season and wish us luck in the playoffs. Now you want to bad mouth everything about us including our coach. You know you guys are legendary on coacht bad mouthing your own coach, I haven't seen many of those critics around in a while though? I would expect my coach to take up for his kids if he feels they are being screwed. One of your own coaches, in the press box, said at halftime it wasn't a penalty(not heresay, I heard it myself), maybe you should explain it to them. We all know 1 penalty doesn't win/lose a ball game, but there were 2- 15 yrd penalties called on the same play. Rushing? Here's some stats for you wildmanfan: OR had 176 yrds rushing, SD had 187. Booker had 99 yrds 6.6per carry, # 35 had 91 yrds 7.58 per carry, #44 had 70 yrds rushing 6.36 per carry. Passing OR 176 yrds, SD 187 yrds. Total offense OR 277, SD 335. Your right about the dropped balls, 5 I believe, it would have been a different game. Yes, I know, the only stat that counts is on the score board. Congrats to OR. I guess my main point is to support the teams in your region, 2-5a. It seems the OR people are more supportive of a team from another region that kept OR from going undefeated, than a team from their own region? I will support OR, McMinn, W. Blount, and wish them the best in representing region 2-5a. p.s.: You're right we can be "much tougher than they were Friday night".

Some guy talks about rushing for 100 yrds against Ooltewah, so I counter with our Farragut stats.....so what!
