  1. If they go on the outside and bring in a new Head Coach, does he resign himself to working with the existing Assistant Coaches, or... will he have the latitude to bring in some new Assistant Coaching personnel? Someone mentioned in an earlier message a coach with great defensive experience would be a good candidate. Defense has never been the problem for FRA. Give Clarke credit for that. The offense just didn't score because of the predictability of play calling. I have asked Santa for a good Irish Catholic Coach from an all boy's school in a Chicago suburb. But I won't bet five cents it will happen. Santa had some issues with my behavior this year. Too all the FRA fans MERRY CHRISTMAS AND LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEW YEAR.
  2. I feel confident that whoever is hired, they will be an outstanding individual. Having lived up North for sometime, might I offer an idea. A coach from a small, successful Catholic program from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, or Wisconsin. Now that the snow has started to fly up there, they would be anxious to escape to the South.

    FRA at CPA

My son played in the 2000 game. That was the only time I saw tears in the boy's eyes. That was probably the best football game on any level I ever witnessed. I wouldn't bet against David Pack, no matter what the odds. This year he will have spotted the field three region wins and when the dust settles will have another gold football.
  4. Once again FRA will miss the playoffs. The only thing FRA fans have to look forward to is the retirement announcement at the football banquet.

    CPA'S Slip-up

The entire CPA community should be honored to have a coach that would make the decision that was made, and own up to responsibility for the oversight. I cannot communicate enough good things about how meaningful that decision will be to those in touch with the CPA program. Good luck the rest of the year.
  6. RWest you are correct. FRA has developed great programs outside of the football program. That alone should tell you something about the problems in football. My credentials? Considering that I predicted no playoffs before the first snap was taken, I think I know something about the program. Also ask youself this question, why isn't anyone coming on here and defending this program and this year's results? You want another prediction? Look for the "retirement" card to be played in a couple months. Then someone else can clean up the mess that will be left behind.
  7. It is very difficult to score points when the defense knows exactly where the point of attack will be on the play. Yes it is a difficult region. What also complicates the situation is the fact that the coaches become familiar with the opposing coaches and their style. This requires someone with a real talent for creativity. Those of you at CPA have it, FRA doesn't have it offensively. This is a bad situation. But don't get me wrong, I still hold a lot of respect for FRA as an educational institution. But the football program is not one of those areas. What I find so difficult to stomach is the players only have a maximum of four years to be their best. Then there high school career is over. Coaches on the other hand can be mediocre and continue to be coaches for years. Oh well, hang in there, track season is just around the corner. See you at the DCA-CPA game.
  8. Just got back into town and I am not surprised by either the outcome or the score. Online LC, this should not have surprised you. Just think about the yearly regression. To the FRA players, I appreciate and know your pain. I have seen it before. But until that "good old boy coaching network" is flushed down the drain, this will continue. Can't wait to see the DCA-CPA game. Is it possible to buy a ticket ahead of time?

    FRA and Ezell

Coach, my gripe is not with you or the job you do. I just happen to believe the young men deserve better and the parents that are forking out $10,000 a year deserve better. At that cost you are competing with MBA and BGA for student/athletes, and look at the success of those programs. When the private/public split occurs, you are in deep deep trouble. In 1991 FRA won a state championship. CPA didn't even have a football program then. Look what they have became in a little over ten years. Conversely, look where FRA has gone in ten years. Aren't you guys getting a little tired of .500 seasons? Don't think that doesn't enter into the equation when a parent considers a school for their athletic son or daughter. So the cycle continues and deteriorates. No athletes, no wins, no wins, no athletes. I have the utmost admiration for players wearing blue, just give them the tools and the opportunity to win.

    FRA and Ezell

From what I read, you and your teamates played your hearts out. The problem is not athleticizm, desire, or numbers of players. The problem is the guy calling the plays. FRA does not score enough points against the tough teams. He is too predictable, unimaginative, and outlasted his years of being a contributing coach. When was the last time a quarterback called an audible at the line? That was the last year of good FRA football.
  11. Sorry, throttled is a slang term for pounded. As in: 37-6 in 2002 41-7 in 2001 20-6 in 2000 44-9 in 1998
  12. Ezell has throttled better teams then this FRA team in the past. No reason to expect anything different this year.
  13. Congratulations on a great game. Can't wait to see the DCA - CPA game.
  14. But don't forget this is Jo Byrnes' homecoming game. Definetly a big game.
  15. What with all of us Northerners here in Nashville, I would love to see BA play my old favorite, the world famous Massillon Tigers in a two game series. I am going to see the Tigers play October 3rd in Massillon and there will be 10,000 people in the stands for that game. That would be a game BA could be proud to flaunt. Not some fluff game like the state champions of Alaska, what was that about.
  16. As I see it, September 19th is the big game against Davidson Academy. This game will probably decide the fourth playoff spot. That should be a good game.

    Fra football

Unfortunately for you and the rest of the young men on team, Weicker will choke in the important games, and you will be watching the playoffs from the stands.

    CPA FRA DCA

I heard from a Fairview father, whom FRA scrimmaged this week, that FRA only has 27 players. Doubt very much that they will qualify for post season play once again. That program just has too many strikes against it.
  19. Look into MCT oil. My son and another player have both found it to be an effective energy producer without all the negative side effects of a stimulant. Plus the taste is similar to orange flavored butter.

Is the bagpipe player going to be back this year or were you successful in finding an accordion player for the pre-game activities?
  21. What will be his position on the coaching staff at UT-Martin?
  22. If you can arrange the travel schedule, the best I have seen is the linemen camp at Purdue. Hard hitting against the best players in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. Most of the camps are fund raisers for the coaching staff. But this camp was outstanding.
  23. Only knowing what I am reading in the papers, I have long been amazed that so many people know that recruiting occured over the years, yet I have not seen where one person has testified of one occurence. It all seems to revolve around one case of how some tickets were handled and as can be seen, that has be subject to interpretation. Why, when this trial was on a local level, did this not occur?

    Fairview

I hope your son heals quickly and I can relate to the turmoil an injury causes. My son strained his MCL during practice last year and when I got the call, I was so disoriented, I didn't even know where to go. I have been out of town and have not had a chance to hear the details from #50's father, but I will tomorrow. Do what the Doctor says, give it time, and the first of the year, start working up to those 600 lbs squats. I think everyone knows, next year is Fairview's year.
