  2. Because I love Jeff and Steve and hope all is going well for them in their respective areas of the state, I also will reveal myself as a voter...Chris Lewis CBHS
  3. Mosely won but Baker moved (bumped) up a weight class to wrestle him.
  4. congrats to kaleb! Great future ahead of him. Props to his father, Brian Baucke and Garrett House among others. I believe he wrestles for the West Tennessee Takedown Club, however.
  5. What RegionX meant was that SBA is one of the guys that rank wrestlers for Matman. SBA is now ghouse. I also know that you are joking about the "JV" league. Good to hear from you again on the board.
  6. Bishop Byrne has not had a program since 92-93.
  7. CBHS Results http://missouriwrestling.com/forum/viewtop...=a&start=60
  8. CBHS is wrestling Soddy-Daisy at 7:00 pm Friday night, December 7.
  9. Nick did well and we at CBHS are proud. Also another CBHS graduate, Darius Williams (Harper JC), placed second at the Missouri Open at 174 in the freshman/sophomore division. He beat Dorian Henderson (Missouri), Georgia multiple state champion in the Semis. Great weekend fo Brothers grads!
  10. Christian Brothers sent 7 wrestlers to the Freshman/Sophomore State Tournament. Thanks to Marcello Donato and Brian Baucke for organizing and coaching the boys. Results: Freshman 112 - Alex Johnson 3rd 119 - Zach Johnson (1st) 130 - Adam Kilkenny (DNP) 135 - Brian Feltus (2nd) 140 - Kyle Lawson (2nd) 171 - Ben Williams (DNP) Sophomore: 215 - Matt Signaigo (DNP) Great Job Menses!
  11. I enjoy Monk, have season one on dvd. I can see the resembance.
  12. You are entitled to your opinion and can do whatever you want. The question was, "Why does Christian Brothers not shake hands?" I explained. I believe, as well as the head of TSSAA that it is unnecessary. Wrestling is a gentlemen's sport. At the beginning of every dual meet, the captains come out and shake hands. Before every bout during the dual, the wrestlers shake hands at the beginning and the end of the bout. Then, at the end of the dual, everyone lines up and shakes hands. For some, that is four times in one dual. Again, we do as the head of TSSAA has asked us to do, others continue to do as they please. Some people will agree, some will not, it was asked, I answered, that's it. "It is what it is." Peace, Chris Lewis
  13. Good Gracious, this comes up all the time. This is a copy of the email sent our parents this season about this topic: This has come up a number of times over the past few years from parents from other schools. I know there was a guy causing a ruckus about it last night. Why do we not shake hands with the opponents coach after a match? There are numerous reasons: 1 – Ronnie Carter, head of TSSAA, suggested to us (the coaches) to stop doing it and that soon it is going to be stopped complete by the NWCA. 2 – Have you ever seen a football player score a touchdown and run over to the sidelines and shake the opposing coach’s hand? Or a baseball player hits a home run and shake the opposing managers hand? Or basketball, lacrosse, golf, soccer, or any other sport? It is absurd. 3 – Have you ever been told by a wrestler from another school after he has lost, “F*** you and your school.”? I have, and other mumbled niceties over 17 years. Why put the kid and the coach in that situation? 4 – What do you say to a kid who just got thumped by one of your kids when he comes over to shake your hand? It is awkward for sure, and it is usually a “dead fish” handshake. 5 – It is completely unsanitary. The kid has been sweating, adjusting himself, wiping his nose and mouth during the match, and then he wants to shake my hand. 6 – Believe it or not, I am many times trying to decide who to wrestle, what the score is (team score) and talking to one of the wrestlers about his upcoming match or talking to a wrestler who previously wrestled about mistakes and I have to stop and shake hands. In what sport in the middle of a game does a coach have to stop coaching to shake hands with the opponent? None. It sets up situations like this that do not need to occur. It is not the appropriate time or place, in the middle of a match or a game, for handshaking. That is why we line up and shake hands after the match (or game) is over, just like every other sport. Bob Williams has asked me the same thing over the years. He was with me at the coaches meeting before the tournament in Missouri when the head official made a point to mention to the coaches the handshaking and that it does not need to occur. We are not unsportsmanlike for not shaking hands during the match, regardless of what some others may think. I hope this clarifies my position and whether you agree or disagree, I hope you can respect it. 14. Felix schools Baucke? I doubt it. Felix beat him at Father Ryan in the finals 2-1. Just thought i would throw that info out there too. Also, yes, Brandon Wright beat DD in ot during the season. Darius rode him for an entire period (2nd) and dang near reversed him at the buzzer. Lastly, as we have seen at the state duals and state individuals....just because you have beaten someone once, that doesn't mean you will win the second time. Guys this good, to even to call. Congrats to all the state champions!
  15. soms, you have no idea what you are talking about. You are just trying to stir walkenvol up. Let it lie. By the way, Chandler was the 8th ranked 157, not sure if he still is or not, so, do not underestimate the competition on the Missouri team. They are ranked 2nd in the country for a reason. Nick is doing great and is happy to have the opportunity. There is no reason for you to jump to conclusions and reopen a old can of worms.
  16. david was not a four timer. He lost to Billy Erneste in the finals as a sophomore and injury default in the finals as a senior. The eldest Marking (the one older than Tom and David, he does not officiate) wrestled at Raleigh Egypt.
  17. yes, david marking wrestled at Memphis Catholic...as did Tom Marking, not CBHS. Oh, they also graduated from there as well.
  18. and where did mr. david marking wrestle? I think the vast majority out there will be suprised by the answer.
  19. I was enjoying the discussion and would have preferred to carry it on in person, not on a message board. It wasn't an attack on you personally. That is the problem with message boards. I thought we were having a friendly, intelligent conversation about the coaches poll. It does bother me about the lack of recognition of our region, but to mention that on this site would open up a whole other thread, hence, I would have preferred this discussion somewhere else. That's why I asked you to introduce yourself. So, I guess by asking you to introduce yourself I was making it personal. Sorry about that and if you took it the wrong way.
  20. Bayou Bear, For the record, I am not assuming that one team is improving and another is not, I'm just going off scores and tournament results. I am fairly sure that the poll will change again this week based on results from this weekend's tournaments and scores. I am not going to speak for anyone else, but I am sure that the poll is not stacked with DII coaches. I understand your feeling that the poll is unfair, I know that I try to be as fair possible. The great thing about the system is that, unlike college football, we have a system to decide championships, not in a poll, but on the mat. No one receive a trophy for the TN Coaches Poll and in the end, the poll is just for fun and to promote the discussion of wrestling, like we are having now. As of now, there is no other system in place, heck, the Commercial Appeal usually doesn't even post the poll in the paper. Someone would have to put a system together such as you have suggested. How many media outlets would vote? Or even have a clue to what is going on in wrestling? Just pointing out possible problems. OK, I am done. I appreciate the discussion. Hey, introduce yourself to me at the state, I would love to know who you are.
  21. Bayou Bear, I vote in the poll and I do not have us that high but thanks. We have not been in any tournaments with Baylor, Bradley or Soddy this year. We placed 2nd at Ryan, 4th at Cape Girardeau, MO, 3rd at Black Horse and won all 5 of our duals at Grissom last weekend. Point to note, and I am speaking for myself here, I do not rate dual results in November and early December as important as January. Yes, Soddy beat Baylor early, but most recent results from tournament would indicate that that result might change if the dual was to happen now. It is no different than college (BCS) polls. I believe, but I am going on memory, that California finished ahead of Tennessee this year in the polls, but UT beat California. Things change, weights drop, wrestlers get injuried, etc. Anyway, we are having a good year and just hope to qualify and compete well at the state duals. Chris Lewis CBHS
