  1. I don't know who will win this one, but I will be rooting for Lipscomb. I have a great amount of respect for some of the DL players, especially Burton Elrod and Austin Rogers. Those 2 are just such nice guys and have a lot of class and sportsmanship, not to mention the fact that both are superb athletes and great football players. I'm sure it will be an excellent game. Good luck to both teams.
  2. All this hardcore conservative Christian propoganda is gettin' me all riled up. I say we start a Christian crusade/revolution. First, we should make it a priority to get any and all other known religions banned from America, and if you refuse convert to Christianity, we will force you to leave the country, and if you still refuse...we'll do something really terrible to ya...but in the name of Jesus of course. And after all this is done, we can live together in our ignorant harmony and pray over the PA anytime we want. Anyways, I don't have a problem with Christianity...I'm not one (as of right now), but do believe in a supreme being. Still, I have something which obviously most of you have, which is the belief in religious equality and tolerance, and saying a Christian pray over the loud speaker, is not being equal or fair to others who have far different beliefs. I don't see why some of you can't settle for a simple moment of silence that makes everyone happy. I really wish some of you would take a step out of the little bubble that you're living in and see that there's more than one side to everything, and that not everyone in this world is just like you, especiallywhen it comes to religious beliefs. You guys want people to just be respectful of your opinion and what you believe, but you won't return the favor.
  3. Man, isn't living in the extremely conservative and single-minded buckle of the Bible belt just grand. By the way, OS91 and joemontanaismyhero57...great posts.
  4. The perfect example of a back who as both great power and speed is Greg Jones of FSU. 6'1 255 lbs with 4.4-4.5 40 speed. Did anyone see the hit he put on UNC's Dexter Reid 2 weeks ago, or this past Saturday, when he burned everyone to the outside and took it in 44 yards against Maryland. And he doing this fresh off reconstructive knee surgery. I know this is about high school football, but I think Jones is a back that gives you the best of both worlds...he'll run you over or run by you.
  5. Well, if you're not fast on the track, you're not going to be fast on the field.
  6. I ran a 4.16 40 yesterday...in cowboy boots. Man, I am sooo fast. People, people, people, all these blazin' 40 times you guys are apitting out are completely bogus. You have to understand that about 99.999% of 40 times (especially in high school) are HAND TIMED. This method of timing, while still used in some HS track meets, is extremely inaccurate and inconsistent, especially when timing a run of only 40 yards where athletes are crossing the finish line at top speed (and their coaches are timing them). At the very, very least, one should add .24 sec on to a hand time of 200 meters or less. The only kind of 40 time that I'm going to believe would be one in which a fully automatic timing (electronic) system is used.
  7. Father Ryan is not an academy. While it is a private (Catholic) school, it goes by the name of Father Ryan High School, or FRHS...not FRA.
  8. If you are refering to the state meet, Houston did not run the 100m at state, only the 400m where he finished 5th in 50.32...and anyone who can run a time like that is fast.
  9. Just a question about Nichols. What is his listed height and weight?
  10. After running against him at state, I can tell you that Jordan Jeffers can move. He threw down a sub 11 100m (10.97) and showed some versatility with his sub 50 400m. I don't know what kind of football player he is, but he is no doubt one of the fastest high schoolers in East TN, along with the entire state.

    BAD BOYS OF 5A

    Ian Van Horne (Brentwood, LB)
  12. From what I hear, Nichols is a very good receiver, but I saw him drop about 4 easily catchable balls (thrown right to him) at the Brentwood playoff game. Was he just having a really bad game, or does he have so so hands?
  13. CCS will most likely have to deal with FRA again. They lost only three players from last year's team, but gain two very talented freshmen, who will likely come in and start immediately.
  14. Well coasterboard, there is in fact a public high school in Tennessee that goes by the name of Livingston Academy...Academy.
  15. Oh, and I will have to disagree with you on your statement that FRA ran well in state. Not one runner on the team ran a pr. In fact most were not even close to pr's, including Chris Michael, who had a stomach virus during state.
  16. FRA is a small private school in Nashville. The high school consists of about 300 students total.
  17. Go to www.picsinstantly.com and click on the spring fling link. There are hundreds of pics of the state meet at this site.
  18. This is exactly what FRA does. Track and Field is a sport in which coaching plays a major role in the success of the athletes and the team, and FRA has some of the best coaching around in that of David Tucker and Kevin Floyd.
  19. Pujo means that most of the publics schools who scored in the state track meet are larger public schools with enrollments of up to 1000 students. Many of these schools play in classes AA and AAA in football (and other sports). The small DI classification in track is A-AA, no just single A.
  20. How many 1A publics even have track teams?
  21. I should just mention that FRA just won their THIRD STRAIGHT state track and field championship (also their fourth title in six years).
  22. Yeah, that guy was fast.
  23. Mentioning FRA with those other private schools the way you did is ridiculous. FRA plays in the same region as CPA, Ezell, DCA, etc. in football is in the mix every year. Also, in overall athletics, FRA is the most dominant single A school in the state.
  24. What did Matt triple jump? That's awesome that he jumped 6'4 in the hj. A big pr for him.
