  1. Monterey-yea right!!!!!! Powerhouse for sure!!!!
  2. Well it's the Cookeville Cav no respect show again on Coach T. As in many games this year the Cavs are the underdog. And probably rightly so after their first round performance. The Cavs were as non prepared as any game this season. The offensive play calling was terrible- 2 up the middle and long incomplete pass. Or 3 incomplete passes and then punt.(Or hopefully punt-our punting team needs a lesson in blocking, longsnapper needs a lesson in longsnapping, and punter needs a lesson in punting). The Cav secondary wouldn't come up and defend the short pass and on offense if the quarterback is not throwing then it's handoff to Paxton. Everyone knows now that Paxton is going to get the ball about every play. Lebanon will be keying on him so the Cav coaches better throw in some wrinkles. We have some other backs but for some reason they never get to touch the ball much! As far as Lebanon is concerned they definitely have big MO in their favor but it's kinda surprising that their elite come on here popping off about their greatness, when they are about as much of a stranger to the playoffs as the Cavs are. I thought I might have to change my name from "disgustedfan" to "optimisticfan" but after last weeks performance disgust has settled in again. I hope Cookeville wins but if we don't make some changes and throw in some new stuff we could get beaten like a drum!!!!
  3. Cookeville played a scrappy bunch tonight in Wilson Cty. The Cavs were as non prepared as any game this season. I don't think it was an overlook by the players but an overlook by the coaches. The Cav play calling was as predictable as years gone by- 2 up the middle then a sweep or a long pass. Or then 3 incomplete passes. The defensive secondary was slow to make adjustments and seemed scared to come up and make the hits needed on the sweeps and short passes. The Cav punting game was miserable and must be changed. The only bright spot was the Cavs played terrible and made huge mistakes but when they went down 14-7 in the 2nd quarter they showed character and stormed back, scoring 2 TDs before half time. Then with over 4 minutes left in the game and the Cavs up 36-14 in goes the substitute running backs for Cookeville and a fumble and run back for 70 yards gives Wilson Central a chance for an onside kick and possibly an opportunity back in the game. It's playoff time, only up by 22 why substitute with that much time on the clock! I hope Cookeville had their wake up call tonight-because Lebanon will not allow anyone to storm back! Wilson Central played well but just didn't have the athletes to win but they gave it their all!
  4. It's going to be clear and quite cool on the Cumberland Plateau this evening-a great night for playoff football. A huge crowd is expected as the Cavaliers will try to tie the record for the most wins in a season (10) ever in Cookeville High School history. Wilson Central the underdog and new kid on the block to the playoff scenario has nothing to lose and everything to gain. It should be fun tonight at Eddie Watson Stadium. Go Cavs!!!!!!!!!
  5. The cheerleader girls wre wonderful but those softball girls on our team were huge!!! I think it will be the Cavs in this 1st round match up.
  6. I always enjoyed the girls in the band and so did most of the other football players!!!!
  7. I think the Cavs will welcome the opportunity to play Lebanon again!
  8. We in Cav land must support our region 3 members-but we should would like a crack again against Lebanon. This should be a good game-in fact this is a class match up for round 1 of the playoffs. Both teams are riding momentum and have improved since the Cavs played them both earlier in the season. We defeated CC by one and Lebanon defeated us by 3 so it is a toss up as far as we are concerned. Of course we must get by Wislon Central before we have a chance at either one again!
  9. Being a region 3 member I wish it was going to be different-but the truth is Smyrna has to much, too often for the Falcons. It will be Smyrna by 21 Unlike the Falcons faithful we remaining region 3 members still cheer for region 3 when they are playing anyone!!!!!
  10. In all due respect to region 3 members- Cookeville played Franklin Cty this past Friday and defeated them 35-6. The Cavs are probably no match for Riverdale so Riverdale should defeat FC by as many as they want to.
  11. I can tell you one thing-whoever they are for whatever game-some of them will be overweight and out of shape and make some obviously terrible calls! The game is getting faster and the players are getting stronger and faster and the TSSAA needs to have some physical requirements and age requirements for their referees. It is heartbreaking to see young men work hard and sacrifice for 3 months and then get in a game and watch men who can't keep up determine the outcome.
  12. Last night was senior night for the Cavs and I counted 14 seniors with 10 of them I believe which are starters.
  13. Cookeville runs about 8-10 different offensive formations. It's difficult locking in on one scheme before they change it. Every game it seems that Coach Joslin throws in a different wrinkle. They have tremendous receivers who have out jumped every secondary they have played against. Their defense is solid everywhere with tremendous defensive ends, linebackers and secondary. They haven't allowed a touchdown in the last 3 games. I have been wtaching Cookeville football for many years and this is the most exciting team and game plan that we have had in many many years!!!!!
  14. The Cavs seemed to have peaked at the right time, yet Wilson Central plays in the always tough region 4 which means they face tough opponents almost weekly. Unless Wilson Central allows play off jitters and the loud crowd at Cookeville to get to them it should be a close game.
  15. Oakland, your exactly correct about two opinions not making a consensus, but you got to give me credit for at least trying to play the underdog!!!!!
  16. Oh this is so good-thank you, thank you, thank you!!! The Cavs were picked to be beaten by Coffee Cty and we won. We were picked a loser against Antioch and we won. We were picked to be defeated in the pit against Lincoln Cty and we won. We were picked by the experts to lose against high powered McGavock and we won 36-0 at their place. Now the experts in region 4 are saying Wilson Central will handled the Cavs in the first round-all I have to say is thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!
  17. Congratulations Cavs on an excellent 9-1 season. The local paper said today that this record is the best for Cookeville since 1967 when they went 10-0. Is that when they had Mack and Watson Brown?
  18. Sounds to me that the administration and coaches have more concern for their field than the welfare of their players and the chance of going 9 and 1. Sad scenario!!!!!
  19. Sadler, you know full well the differences that the turf does make in a game. The game 2 years ago against Beech was the poorest and most disappointing game of you guys tremendous season. If we would have played them at the high school the outcome may not have been different but it would have been much closer!!! I appreciate your support of the Cavs and wish you the best in your future endeavours.
  20. Stupid, stupid, stupid- the game has been move to the Tech Turf. The last time the Cavs played their they were blown out. The size of the stadium takes away any advantage that Cookeville will have with the home field and the crowd noise. Neither team has practiced or played on turf all year. Injuries on turf are a given if you do not know how to fall or brace yourself. If the Cavs lose you can blame this one on the man who made this stupid decision!!!!!!!
  21. I have heard that this game may beplayed at Tenn Tech. Is there any truth to this terrible rumor? Last time Joslin moved a game to Tech's turf was against Beech 2 years ago and they ran all over the Cavs! The Cavs are fast but not that fast!
  22. Franklin Cty has nothing to lose. Cookeville has never been in a place of favorite and state ranked before. Can the Cavs deal with their success? Will they overlook Franklin Cty? Better buckle up Cavs because Franklin Cty is coming to town with upset on their minds!!!!!
  23. The final game of the regular season. The Cavs have clinched the championship in region 3 5A. Franklin Cty needs to win, plus it would bring some relief from a disappointing season in which they were chosen to finish first. What are your predictions?
  24. Most TSSAA football officials are older over weight men trying to keep up with young men who are getting faster and stronger! These young men work hard for months and their parents sacrifice money and resources to make sure these young men get the best possible playing experience possible. And then to allow a group of men of whom most are out of shape determine the outcome of a game is pitiful!
  25. Congratulations Cavs-it sounds like the defense shut down the high powered McGavock offense. I don't think anyone expected the Cavs to run away with this one, especially the way McGavock has been playing in recent weeks. The Cavs are playing better as the season moves along. The offense mixed it up with passing and running and the defense held McGavock to under 100 yards-I think! The special teams were excellent which is a wonderful improvement. The Cavs are clicking in every aspect. Finish the regular season big next week-CAVS!!!!!!!
