  1. Let's go Peabody!!My hopes for 2 state titles coming back to Gibson County is history but the Golden Tidettes can repeat as A state champs.
  2. Congrats LA on your quarterfinal win & good luck the rest of the way.
  3. There's a real easy solution to this weak schedule talk.Invite Gibson County,Livingston Academy,Jackson County,Oliver Springs,McMinn Central & whoever else you want & have them play in a holiday tournament in December.
  4. The system we have gives every team the chance to compete in postseason play even if they go 0-23 on the year.I've always thought it'd be better to have the top 4 district teams compete in the region tournament & 5-8 stays home.It gives better teams rewards for having a good year. Then keep substate the same, then the state tournament. The supporters of the current system will point out that the Crockett County girls finished 5th in the district but have made it to the state tournament as a reason to keep things the way they are.But how often does that happen?
  5. I'm happy to hear that Marissa Hensley made it to 2,001 points. It would've been a shame if she had ended with 1,999.
  6. It's hard to be able to evaluate the teams from around the state when you never get to see them.As fun as this message board is you're getting a biased fan's opinion here 99% of the the time.Because of the fact that Seymour doesn't have a lot of fans posting here you rarely hear them being promoted so it's hard for me to fully know how good they are. Most of the talk here has been Livingston Academy,Jackson County & Gibson County.I include myself in this because I certainly have talked about GC which is only about 10 miles from me.Before that I honestly thought Westview was the best team but that was proven to be wrong. Now,after reading virtually nothing about Seymour & way too much about LA it seems Seymour should be seeded higher than LA.I trust your views & I appreciate the time you put into it to come up with the seedings. If I seem irriated(sp)understand it's directed at people who "know" that this team will win based solely on the fact that's it's their team.Your seedings are the first honest things I've read here about who the top teams are.BTW,Crockett County is 20-15 on the year & finished 5th in their district which shows that anyone can make it to state if they get hot at the right time.
  7. twhoops You're right about having to face the best teams at some point but don't you think most everyone would have Gibson County & Livingston Academy as the top two seeds in the tournament?Where else do you have the best two play for the right to advance to the semi-finals?
  8. I bet you & I plus a few others here to figure out a tournament draw better than the blind draw we have now. When David Vaughn was a SR Whites Creek was #1 in the country & they play a Memphis school, don't remember who, which was ranked in the top 10 nationally & they met in the 1st round. It's idiotic the way they do it.
  9. I wish the TSSAA would think about the fans for once & go to a seeding of the teams in the tourneys instead of a blind draw.
  10. You're absolutely correct about that.Remember, this is the same organization that lets 1-9 football teams make it to the playoffs if they manage to finish 4th in their region.

    USJ Peabody

I think it will be close but Peabody will win.I think Huntingdon will beat Gleason but I won't be shocked even if both visiting teams win. Here you have the top 4 ranked teams in the state matched up against each other in the substate.I don't ever remember anything like that happening before.Being from Gibson County(Humboldt) I'd prefer to see Peabody win the A title & Gibson County win AA.
  12. Bring your boots! There's a lot of water in that area off Hwy 45W.

Jeremy, who's running the sports department at the Sun since Dan's pulled a Dennis Seid & left sports for (greener?) pastures? Is the change because Becca's a freshman now?

    3,000

Crystal Eason ended her career at Scotts Hill with 2,951 points with a loss to Jackson Christian in the district tournament. How many players have scored 3,000 points in the career?
  15. Considering that Alex Fuller of Shelbyville is ranked #5 in the country by Blue Star I'd say she was #1 in the state.Ashleigh Newman of Shelbyville & Sade Buley of South-Doyle are also nationally ranked so I'd say they would be next.In West TN I think Crystal Eason of Scotts Hill is the best senior while junior Sha' Brooks of Jackson North Side is the best overall.I don't know enough about other areas of the state to make an entire top 20 list.
  16. Ronnie Carter did an interview on a Jackson station Monday night & he mentioned Jackson County as a school that would likely drop to A.I would expect them to play in AA by their own choice. The unknown answer is how many non-financial aid private schools to go to Division II.The TSSAA can't do reclassification until they known which schools decide to change.
  17. 2,000 is a great milestone but Scotts Hill's Crystal Eason needed 22 points to hit 2,600 going into last night's game.I haven't seen how she did yet.
  18. Sad to say I don't know enough about Nera White to make a call on her.Of the players I am familiar with I'd list Holly Warlick,Jennifer Azzi,Nikki McCray,Venus Lacy & Sheila Frost in my top five.I have to disagree on Tiffany Woosley,Angela Moorehead & Carolyn Peck as being among the all time best.Alex Fuller is the best player Shelbyville has ever had & Brittany Jackson would rank higher on my list than Woosley,Moorehead or Peck.In my area,I'd say Ashley McElhinney(Vanderbilt) is the best with Jessica Henson,(Union)Michelle Street,(Union)Sherelle Warren,(Georgia),Carol Smith,(Alabama) & Kara Sanders(Freed-Hardeman) also high on my West TN list. Before it's over Jackson North Side's Sha Brooks may be on some TN all-time lists down the line.
  19. You're exactly right & it's even worse in football.Football only has a top 5 poll because of the smaller number of schools per classification & it's difficult to break into that poll.As the seson goes on you'll see a team get a first place vote listed in the "also receiving votes" area. This happens in every classification despite the fact the strategy doesn't work because a first place vote is only worth 5 overall votes. If voters around the state don't vote for your team you don't make the top 5.I've heard voters actually admit they've done this on radio shows because they wanted the team to get recognized.Besides,in any sport, how can someone from Johnson City or Bristol know how good a team from Dyersburg or Memphis is & vice versa?
  20. I would agree that Memphis has the best AAA teams for one area;especially White Station & Raleigh-Egypt.In rural West TN I would say Bolivar is the best & they lost to WS & R-E.
  21. I agree that Brooks is the best player overall. The scary thing is she's only a junior.
  22. My vote for the best A player in West TN is Crystal Eason of Scotts Hill.SH has a good team besides her so her numbers aren't as high as Meredith Richardson of Bradford. The difference is that Scotts Hill's chances at a title are good while Bradford will be lucky if they win 40% of their games.USJ may be even better than Scotts Hill as they won the first matchup of the year.
  23. Are you talking about the tournament at Union University or is USJ hosting its own tourney?I know JCM,Haywood & Scotts Hill are in the UU event.
  24. Jackson County 70,Nitro,WV 55 Sunday Memphis Briarcrest 62,Nitro 49 Monday morning Stay away from Tennessee teams Nitro!!
  25. The Lady Chargers fall 68-45 to Dreher,SC in their opening game. They play the loser of Briarcrest-Archbishop Molloy,NY on Saturday.
