  1. Outsider looking in on this but from what I have seen, even if you take the fundamental argument out of this discussion, you still have the fact that a girl or boy can play basically year-round from the time they are what 6 or 8 years old thru high school? I realize that some would argue that "they have to to keep up" but come on! I know of a girl that played constantly from the 6th grade on, was the "best around", and by the time she was a Senior, had to be talked into playing. She said herself she was just burned out. She got a scholarship, but played only one season. She now says that she had played constantly since she was a kid and it just was not fun anymore, just one story. It is such a shame that boys and girls are basically forced to choose a "fulltime-sport" very early instead of playing more than one. I know that someone will throw out examples of 2 or 3 sport athletes but that is rare and even so how many basketball coaches would truly give their blessing for a girl to play softball or something else in the off-season. Yes, it has gotten extremely out of hand, but it is only the natural progression of things due to competition. On the boys side, if he is serious about football, in todays world he must give up baseball in order to attend camps and work-outs instead of also playing baseball, and vise versa. Fire Away
  2. Update-----Final Score Lawrence Co. 55 Shelbyville 52 Lawrence Co. was down by 5 with 1:30 left.
  3. Final--Shelbyville 49 Lawrence Co 32 Talked to someone at the game who described it as "very sloppy" for both teams.
  4. I'm not familiar with the Hillsboro program other than seeing them play once this year. They could have done whatever they wanted that night. How many Hillsboro players started their career at another school? I knew about the one from Franklin, and someone said that 2 or 3 Overton players had transfered there.
  5. Is there just one play-off for middle schools, or is it like basketball, where there are several "state tournaments", and several "state champions"?
  6. Thanks for simplifying that play-off picture fatfootballfan, you obviously did some figurin'. All LC has to do is win, and as stated in the first post, the heart can do it. (I still find it hard to believe we're talking play-off possibilities in Lawrence Co.) Seems like it's been a long time since a LC-Columbia game meant anything. My, how quickly times have changed. We need, and will have a HUGE crowd and some fired-up players!
  7. Well, that's good, we need everybody ready for these last games. I guess I've got enough "old school atitude" in me to feel comfortable in saying that this late in the season, unless an injury is "major", it's time to tough it up and get out there, especially for Seniors and team leaders. I'll make this statement about the Hillsboro loss...I believe that is our first game that we would have lost no matter how good a game we played. Their game plan fits their team perfectly. A Hillsboro parent told me that they "stayed in the weight room" when they're not on the practice field. Congratulations to Hillsboro for your dedication....it definitley shows. Bring on those Columbia Lions. We've come a long way. Go Wildcats
  8. Some of Lawrence County's key players came close to hangin it up the last couple years, and Walt was the key reason they didn't.
  9. Alot of folks are finding out now about Walt what some of us Lawrence Countians have said for a while now. Guess he's not "too young" after all! Great choice, Mt. Pleasant.
  10. I was at the game and no Kolesar did not play, I didn't count 'em, but it looked like maybe at least 6 without pads. Kolesar, Beard, Chambers, I believe Adam Cozart, and at least a couple others. Just about 3 weeks ago, Dollar, who started RB last night was #3 on the depth chart. Another reason why any player anywhere should give it 2nd thought if he is thinking bout giving it up due to lack of playing time.
  11. I guess we could cancel the rest of the season and go ahead and give Hillsboro the trophy. I haven't seen Hillsboro play, so I'm sure not qualified to predict some lop-sided score. Is one possible? Sure. Either way? Sure. Anything is possible in High School football. Especially when one team is in the spotlight every week and the other is from some "rural county" that has to scratch and claw for any kind of press and can't wait to go to Nashville Friday to "see what the're made of." The only prediction I will make is that Lawrence County will be confident, anxious, and excited, and as most of us should know by now, when a so-called "underdog" has that going for them, it could be interesting, very interesting. I am looking forward to Friday night. Go Wildcats
  12. Gametime is near and I am suprised that this thread has not had more action. Come on Wildcat fans, players, students, lets show how excited we are about having a winning football team in Lawrenceburg on this Homecoming! Go Wildcats
  13. And I thought mama was vicious with that fly swatter!
  14. I heard from a player today that Chambers was "just a sprain" and would return well before the season was over and Beard may just be out a week.
  15. Anybody have anything on Beard & Chambers injury?
  16. New week, new game. A Hickman Co. fan told me this is the one they been waitin' for. What do yall say?
  17. OK, time to close this thread out and move on. To answer hsfootballfan10's question, #4 was injured last week (foot) and from what I heard last night practiced very little if any during the week. Congratulations to Hillwood, they took advantage of the breaks that Lawrence Co. gave them. The Lawrence County team that showed up last night was the same one that lost to White Co. It is very evident that Coach Marston has made great progress in a short time with the atitude and confidence, and hopefully the Hillwood game is the last time that we will see the Wildcats with that "I wish this thing would get over so we can leave" appearance as soon as they get behind. Maybe that's something that will take a while, but like so many other things, winning will be the cure. Go Wildcats
  18. Nobody ever answered my question about the burgers at Hillwood...?
  19. The Tennessean does say tonight, but that's wrong............just like the prediction from the writer.
  20. The more I talk with fans of each of these teams, the better this match-up gets! Should be a good one.
  21. I haven't been to most of the ones mentioned, but of the ones I have been to, Savannah has a nice place.
  22. Just wanted to get some talk started about this game. It sounds like both teams have improved greatly since the last meeting. With the Wildcats' confidence and the students/fans excitement making leaping bounds this year, it makes the anticipation of a trip to Nashville Friday even more inviting. What about it Hillwood, "Yall got some good burgers in the concession stand?"
