  1. Phish- why don't you get a life yourself. You are simply jealous that WesVols knows his stuff. "Wisdom has two parts: 1)Having a lot to say and 2)Not saying it." You might want to stick to that theory.
  2. Don't forget the offsides that BGA had that gave y'all fourth and goal on the two instead of on the 9. That gave you the opportunity to go for 6 as opposed to 3. [Edited by wildcatfan on 11-13-02 6:03P]
  3. EGO, Don't forget that BGA has 21 other guys on the field besides Todd Soderquist (although sometimes it seemed like Todd was worth 6)! BGA returns the entire backfield and has some good young talent that played last year on "D". Should be a good matchup. I wish I could be "Walking in Memphis" this Friday!
  4. I remember last year all the smack that Harding talked and then how your website boasted an almost certain victory, but BGA won. Granted BGA doesn't play well in Memphis (A couple of tough ones to Briarcrest), but I still think BGA's run game is good enough to beat any team in D-II AA. They rolled past Webb, Catholic, and Notre Dame, not to mention ECS earlier this year on homecoming. BGA 13-6 over Harding. Like last year, Harding will put up a strong fight, but BGA will win. Go 'Cats and good luck to Harding- Good luck to all the AA teams left. This is what it's all about right here. Click here to listen to a little short piece from last years BGA season- its titled "Will to Win Moment". Will to Win Moment- The Harding Game RealOne should play the file. 5. ELA, I am sorry, but what the 'masses' want isn't always the best. It's called mob rule. The public school 'mob' in this state can't stand the rivate schools (I think the feeling of jealousy is deeply rooted and that it goes way beyond sports. It's a shame, because now we wont have a true state champion in TN. You will have a public champion and a private champion- and some years the private champion will be better and sometimes the pub champion will be better. I'm just glad in a way that it is happening, because then all these whiners and complainers will 'shut up' and move on, although, I am interested in one question: who are the publics going to blame when they lose a state championship with no privates involved? Hmmmmm, looks like most of y'all on this board will need to startt hunting a new scapegoat.
  6. If the coaches and a.d.s would spend half as much time on trying to figure out how to win against private schools as they do about whining about having to play them, they might beat us occasionally. it a shame that we will no longer have genuine champions in TN if the privates are kicked out 100%. just having public and private divisions means that there are a lot of 'champions'. The only possible good thing that can come out of this is the fact that if a total split occurs, we can scoop up all the good athletes and provide them with an above adequate education while allowing them to shine against the real teams in Tennessee.
  7. Let me ask this question: Is Father Ryan's hold on the bottom spot going to continue? For their sake, I hope not.
  8. FRAdad, CoachT and Iamoz work E N D L E S S L Y on this website. I mean they are always working on it. They are providing a service so that you can enjoy fellowship with fellow prep fans. Sometimes the site might run a llittle slow, but thats just due to all the nifty features and new technology that you have been enjoying. Coacht could be like prepwhisper online and charge for everything while you're on the site (i think that those guys might even charge for Oxygen in the future), but he doesn't. Get the FRA community out to purchase fan ads. [Edited by wildcatfan on 11-3-02 5:24P]
  9. I saw Parker play a few times in BGA's summer league, he's not bad. I think Cole Rose will determine where this team goes. Tripp as well, becuase those guys are the veteran BGA players. In my opinion, the jury is still out on Parker- I want to see how he performs in a real game situation under Smith's system. Best of luck to BGA this year- Let's Beat Ryan!
  10. I agree commish- that ten inning game seemed to go on for days...
  11. He NEVER had to return. He made the choice. TJ, I think you are way out of touch. Ben (is that even his name) should be in ALC for his treatment of a faculty member.
  12. Kareem first of all was pointing out that your bright star had butchered some pretty easy words. Maybe he was just concealing his identity, like sometimes is done on a ransom note (I am being sarcastic here). Under no circumstances should an athlete threaten a coach. I come from a background that encourages respect. I forget who mentioned it on this thread, but a team is NOT a democracy. Once he stuck that finger in his coach's chest, he should have been in a bus the next morning on the way to his local Alternative Learning Center, along with all the other kids who threaten faculty members. They have really sporty uniforms- Orange with black lettering. TJ, I am not going to go as far as calling you an idiot, but I do believe that you are misguided. Folks, lets remember that after school athletics are privilege not a right. We must all remember that. There are better ways to deal with problems besides sticking fingers in chests and calling people names. Ben should have told the coach where he stood instead of making a profane, physical confrontation, then he truly would have made the same stand as Martin Luther did at the Diet of Worms in 1521. Luther stood up to the church, but he didn't make his point by burning the pope at the stake(I'm pretty sure he didn't assault them in the locker room either). 13. I think we ought to get the story from the coach as well. I'm afraid that sometimes high school kids tend to embellish stories. Young man, first of all, a player should NEVER poke his finger in the coach's chest. Call me old-fashioned, but a player should respect his coach to his face. If your coach is as bad as you say he is, then you lowered yourself to his level by poking your finger and using foul language as you left. Quitting your high school basketball team because you violated team policy does not put you in the same company as the gentlemen that you mentioned. Those guys did a lot more. Basketball is trivial in the grand scheme of things. Martin Luther took on The Church (he risked his life for his beliefs). Thomas PAYNE was a writer (wrote the Age of Reason), but I assume that you meant Paine- he wrote patriotic literature to stir up the colinies against the British. What you did in no way puts you in their company. You broke team policy and left. Period. [Edited by wildcatfan on 10-26-02 12:52P]
  14. Look for Hibbett to step up. I think if Cole Rose can stay out of foul trouble, then BGA will be fine.
  15. I don't like all this talk about "trios." As an alumni of the 'Academy, I will always pull for the 'Cats. I enjoyed working with coach Smith. 44, are you TRYING to fire up the competition? Most schools like beating us regardless, but I'm sure that they will eat up this bulletin board material. Let's play a few regular season games before we start talk about guard "trios." I agree though that BGA will be a premier team in the eighth wealthiest county in the country this season. They have a lot of returning talent. Play "Smith Ball" correctly and it's amazing who BGA can beat. There will be less spice though on the schedule, no more cody waddy to shed his shorts after an early ejection . Cedntennial will be tough. Franklin: Beatable. Too bad Brentwood never wants to schedule BGA. Its a shame that the former principle hated private schools. That game could be a good one. BA will be tough under one of the state's best coaches. And even though Ryan is in DAVIDSON county, they are always good and will continue to be a team that BGA will have to play perfectly against.
  16. Lotto=Quick fix to an ever present problem. As a proud member of the Williamson Co. GOP, I will vote against the lotto. We need to cut spending to increase revenue. Tax cigarettes and booze.
  17. congrats on your commitment. Y'all always have GREAT teams. [Edited by wildcatfan on 10-21-02 12:34A]

    BA FOOTBALL

I'm assuming you're talking about Gizmo? Yes, GIZMO. Thanks couldnt remember his name. Looks like even with the talent Palmer couldn't win. [Edited by wildcatfan on 10-21-02 12:22A]
  19. WhoCares, You can't use the Baylor/McCallie matchup as a measuring stick. It too much of a rivalry game. It doesn't matter what the records are in that game. Its like any big rivalry- they usually aren't blowouts. That matchup is the most anticipated in Chattanooga on a yearly basis. Not a good yard stick by which to measure.

    BA FOOTBALL

WesVols, Still, I think it was not a 'class' move to can Moore. Moore had a successful run at BA. Bottom line, until he failed to make the Clinic Bowl- the job should have been his. Maybe I am "old-School", but I think that a coach deserves the support of his administration. It IS a touchy subject. WesVols, I'm sure that Tom's teaching abilities playedinto the decision. BA is a good school from what I hear. I'm not even gonna touch the recruiting issue that was mentioned in the opening post. I am to the point where I don't care what they do. If they want to get the best athletes, thats their choice. They are no worse than Riverdale or Franklin. A few years back, Franklin got a kid to transfer from Centennial to Franklin for a certain class that just so happened wasn't available at Centennial. Everyone ought to hear what Riverdale and Oakland used to do. Athletes would just mysteriously move into the 'right' district to attend one school or the other. So it happens at both public and private schools. So I guess im saying, lets all just move on.
  22. D-II Title Predictions A- Bishp Byrne FACS has the best record in D-II A. They will meet Bishop Byrne in the Championship game. This is the western heavy classification. Don't look for any miracles out of the east, because 1-6 Sewanee is the only non-western team in single A. Even with FACS record, I am going to have throw them down on paper as the under-dog due to thier loss to Byrne. Bishop Byrne by 7 1/2. AA- BGA Hands down. No question. They systematically destroyed Knox Webb last night. There are no teams in the west that will challenge the 'Cats. Look for Briarcrest to win their 5th silver ball this year. BGA by 14. AAA- McCallie McCallie is the only team to have beaten BA here in Tennessee. I think you have to look for a rematch of last year's AAA game. I think Carlton Flatt will realize what it must have felt like to be Tom Moore in years past. His eagles will not beat the Blue Tornado. McCallie wins by 3.
