  1. Topfootballfan, looks like BGA is on track to get another set of rings this year by beating MBA. Hmmm...lets think, which is a better win? CAK or MBA? I'd take a win over a great team like MBA any day. Beat them, and I'll admit that your team might be decent. lose to 'em, and you might want to stop talking trash that you can not back up.
  2. Well, looks like my alma mater got the job done tonight. Great job guys! BGA simply outplayed the Big Red and deserved the win. It was payback for last year. As far as BGA football goes, this is the best friday night in the regular season that I can remember. All i can say is WOW!
  3. BigRed3, Beating MBA by any amount of points in basketball is darn good- only 'cause your program is so strong. I have nothing but good things to say about your athletic department. I wish y'all great luck this year (although I hope you lose to BGA!).
  4. Hey guys, I think topfootballfan has bitten off more than he can chew. KHSbeavers, go ahaead and post on this thread all you want. You have an association with Catholic since both schools are in the same city. CAK is not a mandated game topfootballfan, so you did have a choice in playing them. It sounds to me that you are throwing a tantrum since you know that your football team hasn't cut the mustard in who knows how long. Anyway, no way y'all beat MBA or McCallie- they will take you behind the shed. BGA, Webb, and even Notre Dame will beat you. BGA and Webb will knock the snot out of you. I think you have some emotional issues- It seems that every single one of your latest posts are nothing but emotionally driven rubbish. Guys, I saywe quit giving topfootballfan the glory of having folks post on his thread.
  5. Ego, Baseball is good on a yearly basis, softball, voilleyball, and girls soccer all made it to the state tournaments, girls basketball made it to sectionals, BGA mens basketball beat every team in the region except Ryan. THey also beat columbia central. But I guess that means we are not very good at basketball since we beat the stuffings out of MBA once and also came back froma 21-0 deficit to beat BA in basketball. I think that you have no clue what it means to play in such a tough region. I hardly call west tennessee's version of d-II athletics the most competitive. Playing teams like ryan, MBA, HH, and BA make for fun, exciting games. Everyone else at BGA wants to play these teams. Ego, you'd enjoy playing against D-II A teams in football, wouldn't you? When I was there, those were the games we looked forward to-playing in a division where winning is easy because the teams are crap is no fun. THats why our "other sports" enjoy their region so much.
  6. Just1np, If yo read my post carefully, you'll see that I was calling racists ignorant- not you or those who disagree with me. I was simply trying to make the point that just because some backwoods racist uses a symbol, doesnt make that symbol bad. Its not the flag thats the problem, its the general stereo type that the only reason the flag is flown is to promote racism (Just1np, I'm not saying you are doing that- just so that theres no misunderstanding again). Pollitical correctness has gone way to far in America. Let Maryville be. Everyone looks for controversy these days. And to those who still think General Lee is giving the orders- THE WAR HAS BEEN OVER FOR A WHILE. If we take down all the flags, where do we go next? The confederate memorial in the town square- i guess it'll have to go next week.
  7. Bragging about beating Sewanee is like Vandy bragging about beating Citadel- its what is supposed to happen. If I were you, making a statement should consist of beating a team that didn't run with tails tucked form a "small schools" division in D-II. [Edited by wildcatfan on 8-29-02 9:48P]
  8. Ego, I think BGA should move up. Every other sport at BGA plays MBA and Father Ryan and BA- I think BGA should move up in football- it would force them to play at the absolute highest level. I think three classes is quite rediculous, especially when there are only 8 teams in each one. Competition is great in AAA and Ithink, as an alumni of BGA, that the best move is to make the move- its the best decision down the road. better games and more local competition.
  9. Hopefully it will be a good game, unlike last year. If BGA can keep from catching fumblitis, we'll do fine. MBA, in my opinion, will return to the top of the AAA classification. Battle of a defending state champion and a power house- should be a classic game.
  10. The flag isn't whats offensive- or at least it shouldn't be. Racists also used to burn crosses. Does that mean crosses shouldn't be allowed in public? Certainly not! Just cause some ignorant racist uses something as a symbol doesn't make the thing he uses bad! If the memebers of the school want to change the mqascot, thats fine. If they don't, then we should leave them alone.

    D-II AA

Ego, for once I think you and I can agree on something. I think that this will be a great year for D-II AA fans!
  12. Topfootballfan, Trash talk between fans is common, and even expected as long as it is clean. I happen to know that coacht doesn't just erase threads to pick on people- that's a rediculous thing to say! And if you want to talk Knox Catholic football, I leave you with a challenge from a BGA alum- Try and stay with four touchdowns of us this year! Last year was no fun (either time!) Coacht, keep up the great site. [Edited by wildcatfan on 9-3-02 5:51P]
  13. Just1np, I don't really think it matters what other schools think. I think it's time here in the USA to stop trying to be so PC. Pollitical Correctness is eventually going to destroy every unique aspect of local communities.

    D-II AA

well, i'd just like to start off by wishing D-II AA good luck. I think, of course, that BGA is, and rightfully should be, the favorite this season since they beat BCS and Webb last year. Having said that much, I also want to add that BCS is due a Clinic Bowl sooner or later. They have been the Buffalo Bills of D-II for the last four years. I think overall that BCS has been the MOST solid team over the last few years, they just haven't been able to winthe one game at Vandy. ECS beat BGA last season in a close game- leaving me to believe that this year's matchup will not dissappoint BGA or ECS fans. Also, Webb beat BCS in the regular season, and if I'm not mistaken BCS was able to split with them by winning in the playoffs. Bottomline, just like every year, there are only four teams, that have a shot this season at the title. BGA, BCS, HA, and Webb. Anyway, good luck to all of the II-AA teams- ARE WE READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?
  15. It's just a flag. Sometimes I think that people fly it just to fit in, or some just fly it to try and intice people into confrontation, but as fr as the flag at sporting events- I think it's absolutely fine. Mascots are supposed to represent the community that the school is in, and here in the south, there are lots of teams branded as the rebels. What flag are the rebels supposed to fly? It's just a flag folks. No way there should be this much controversy.
  16. Just1np- great names. that deserves a good mark.
  17. HOw in the world do you justify putting Fairview ahaead of croos county BGA, who won a State title. For that matter, how could Fairview even be in ANYONE's top 25 poll? They went 5-5 last regular season. Hardly anything to write home about. Page, Franklin, Brentwood, Centennial, Brentwood High, everyone in Williamson county should be in front of Fairview. No offense intended for your team, but the ranking of Fairview in your poll makes it all bunk. Thats just my two cents worth on the issue.
  18. Obviously what he did wasn't that bad. No one is sure what he did. I'm sure that we don't have all the details. For all we know the guy mayhave sent the emails as a joke- and a parent took them the wrong way. We just don't know. Also, there wasn't any mention of inappriate contact between himself and his athletes, so its really not that bad. All of his players, to me (Someone who saw this team MULTIPLE times during the year), it seemed as if his players had a great deal of respect for him. Lets not automatically assume he's a bad guy and he's getting off scott-free. Lets just wait until more details surface before we jump the gun.
  19. Better article I think. Chip was a nice guy. He first came up with the idea of gamenotes in our region. http://tennessean.com/sports/localsports/a...ent_ID=19308881
