I'd agree with that one also..they beat us at home in a monsoon 17-6 the following week in the Semi's.

Many people say the 1994 Riverdale Warriors were the best football team in TN history..the only thing keeping them off this list was "the run" which sealed a 14-10 comeback victory over my choice for the best 5A team to come up a little short..my 1994 GHS squad.

I cant wait for week 3..Its gonna be huge. SP over the last decade has turned itself into one of the best programs in the south(back to back state championships,30+ game winning streak and national rankings) ...regardless of the outcome coach Whites open door policy to playing the toughest teams in the region is gonna pay huge dividends come playoff time. GO DEVILS beat the Tigers and make Tennessee proud.

I'm thinking it will be a three horse race between Collierville,Germantown and Houston...with my devils coming out on top!! thumb

I'm gonna say its a toss up between the 94' and 04' warrior squads...now its true the 94' team had the closer games but i think the overall competition in 94' was higer than that which was seen in this past season of 5A football.

No prb..I think i'll try and make it down for this one also. South Panola has a 30+ game win streak and will no doubt be national ranked at game time...its gonna be a tuff one for sure but hopefully Germantown can pull it out and futher improve the image of Tennessee high school football.

Its week 3 at Germantown...should be a great ball game.

My PreSeason 5A Top 5: 1) Riverdale (Easy pick...until they lose a game the number 1 spot is locked up.) 2) Oak Ridge (A new coach doesn't always hurt..03' Gtown comes to mind.) 3) Franklin (Has joined 5A elite..no more rebuilding just reloading.) 4) Germantown (Young team last year with the ability to be special if offense can improve.) 5) Cookeville (Great season last year with many returning players...Possible dark horse but the East side of the bracket will be brutal as usual.) 5) Dobyns Bennett (Another year another 9 or 10 win season for the Indians..but it wont mean as much without a playoff win over Oak Ridge.)

Sadly my info gathering is slowed considerably by now calling Knoxville my home...but i'm planning a trip home this week and should have the lowdown shortly. Hopefully another Gtown fan can clue us in until I can do some research.

For the most part this is true...but Shelton did run a 4.2 in High school and still does at Notre Dame...they talked about him several times during the UT game this year.

I was just getting tired of all the confidence in Riverdale from all the folks in Middle Tenn. and then when showing confidence in our team, being called trash talkers.
