  1. Hearing that Kingston's Blair Harrison is a candidate.
  2. I doubt TJ would be your first match, and that's the one you have to worry bout. Worry bout TJ if/when you get to that opportunity. Josh, BTW- rankings aint nothing but opinions. When it's all said and done, the person standing on podium in February will be all that matters. One match at a time.
  3. Open tournament at King College in Bristol, TN this Sunday. Have to have graduated HS is only criteria. At least that's my understanding.
  4. The middle school kid that is being spoken about is a great MS running back. I know that he's visited Baylor in Chattanooga and rumors have been all over the place about him going there next year. Football wise, he'd fit in to Baylor's offense....otherwise though not a good fit. CAK, why would that even be considered football wise? He's a running back and won't be highlighted at CAK. Not saying his parents are "lying" but will say that HS football aint MS football, and I hope he can handle the required academic load that he'd face, especially at a Baylor.
  5. Have you tried any of the KY teams or NC teams? Just a thought.
  6. If OS wins, who do you predict them playing in the first round?
  7. Mr Bertier, any chance if Oliver Springs wins this Friday night that they will make the playoffs?
  8. Football is a rough & tough sport. If you want it watered down go play flag football or powder puff. The hit was within the rules of play. You put a 130-140lb kid on the field with a bunch of 200+lbers, you are taking a risk of someone getting hurt. Don't blame #57 for doing his job.
  9. I know it's a new team, new coach, new "dawn" for Kingston but can't remember when Kingston has "blown" scott county out. For what ever reason, this game is always a tough game to win for Kingston.
  10. Congrats to a tough Greenback team and good luck the rest of your season. Our problems at OS run deeper than I originally thought. No excuses! It starts with preperation and discipline. Time to grow up!
  11. Hope your boy is fine and thanks for the well wishes. I made reference to the adversity this team and community has faced only to educate, not for simpathy. I wouldn't expect, nor want anything but Greenbacks best tomorrow evening. We will survive and we will rebound. Give me back the kid we lost in May, Brady Walls #12, and give me the kids back currently out with health issues/injuries, and you can take back the semi-final finish we had last season. I think anyone associated with this team will make the same deal!
  12. Actually there's not much to say. This OS group has been hit with some really tough situations beginning with the death of a player this past May, the starting center breaking his foot in our first scrimmage of the season, our all state LB being diagnosised with mono the Sunday prior to our season opener, and what we hope will be the last of our misfortunes this season, one of our returning RB's was in a near fatal ATV accident this past Saturday. Really don't think there is much else to say.
  13. Guys, let's not travel down this road. Keep it about the team and not the individual player. He's just a kid.
  14. What did I miss?! Eric is out at Cleveland?
  15. AE is getting an outstanding coach and individual. I've been friends with Pankey for years, and have also coached beside him. The players will love him! Pankey is a players coach and will promote the program throughout the school and community like no other coach. Yes he's diciplined, but more than that he's passionate about what he does and how his players represent the school, there families, and themselves. Pankey, if you read this, you better keep your promise about making sure I don't have to wait in line for a full quarter to get my chicken wings when I come to watch games!! BTW- the cornbread needs to be put back on the menu as well! AE, you got a steal!!!!!!
  16. Looking at a new coach that is trying to start a new tradition. Making a lot of changes that have been "traditional" and will surely make some of Alumni mad. Going to be interesting to see if he continues to be successful with his changes, although he hasn't won a game yet. Got a lot of peoples expectations built up. Time will tell!

  18. It's obvious that the Principal/Head Master at Grace doesn't have a problem with this type of thing. Since he/she doesn't, TSSAA should step in. Some will ask why TSSAA.....well because they are the ones that will be called to dish out the punishment when a full scale fight breaks out in a game or kids start getting there heads used as target practice from the opposing team. Just a matter of time before this get's very ugly. Hochever(sp?) should be ashamed of himself!
  19. I can definitely see both sides to this situation. Although i can say that when starting up a new program, while part of the survival to that new program is feeder programs (along with many other factors like admin support, financial support, knowledgable coaching, etc), the other part is success. I have helped start up a program in an area that doesn't support nor understands the sport, but was lucky enough to originally be placed in a region that they could be competitive in. Since that time, region alignments have been changed and that program is in with the Bradleys, Clevelands, of the world. Now, with that being said, I'm currently attempting to start another program at a different HS within the same area. With the current region alignments, and the current A/AA/AAA set-up, there isn't much chance that the new program would have much success or even survive. Again, I agree with the old school mentality most have mentioned on here about this, but also see the other side of the coin. If the reason for making the change is to hopefully grow the sport with additional HS teams, yes I'm for the change. If the change is to hopefully grow the sport within the current teams, no I'm not for the change (don't believe these proposed changes will have that effect).

  21. Every tournament has it's problems, big or small. I've hosted several wrestling tournaments throughout the years, and every tournament we encounter a problem. Several years ago I had the priviledge of hosting 3 state AAU individual tournaments. Each had it's problems. These tournaments take a ton of work, volunteers, planning, coordinating, money, and sweat. No matter your planning/coordinating, there seems to always be something that comes up at the last minute or during the tournament that throws a clitch in it. Who's at fault?! It is what it is!! Although I'm no longer a part of AAU wrestling, I'm hearing some of the same complaints year end and year out. The majority of them stemming from last minute entries from coaches/teams, as well as the tournament being an "open" tournament. While requiring all divisions to qualify will drop your state tournament entries, it should raise your entries for the tournaments designated as "qualifiers". This would also eliminate last minute entries. In the past, those tournaments designated as "qualifiers" weren't real qualifying tournaments and coaches/parents got use to that and went to other tournaments. Make it mandatory to qualify for the state tournament and you "kill 2 birds with one stone". Wrestling, as a whole is growing within our state and it's due to a lot of hard work from a lot of people. Let's keep growing!
