  1. Also, Glencliff beat Hunters Lane(by 2) Whites Creek beat Pearl-Cohn(by 8)
  2. Whites Creek and Antioch will be the best two teams in Nashville. MLK will be good but they will go as far as Robinson takes them. They do have a good player in Christian( i think he's a sophmore). Hillsboro will be improved, I don't know much about them. I keep hearing about some freshman they have. Maplewood is the only team in Nashville with enough Height to rival Antioch. Guard play will be their weakness. If Cantrell can become a steady playmaker this team can make some noise. Whites Creek will win with their guard play. They have no size at all. Demonte Harper is 6'4" but plays like a guard and weighs 100 lbs soaking wet. He can do everything. And of course there is Jamie Graham, the kid who just plays to win. A nonstop motor and a coach's dream to coach. He is their best defender and ball handler. Robert Ellison will move into the starting line-up where he will burn defenses with his outside shooting. this kid rarely misses from deep. They will be the team to beat. ANtioch, i talked about them in the antioch post. McGavock will lean on Don woods' outside shooting. They will be small too. Stratford has some players but will take a semester to put the pieces together. A sleeper team. Watch out for them come tourney time. Whites Creek, Antioch, Maplewood, Stratford, Hillsboro, McGavock and MLK are your teams to watch in Metro this yr.
  3. On paper this is a very good team. They are the best team in Metro on paper. And a top 5 team in the state. However, it will all boil down to how they actually play together. The guards must cut down on turnovers. One of the guards upton, williams, or even davis will have to emerge as a true point guard(steve nash style) and keep all of the scorers happy. this is a tough job. its a good problem but antioch probably has to much talent. you have williamson, mcadoo, and wells all down low and all want the ball. then all of the guards like to shoot and dribble. it is a tough coaching job keeping this group happy(and the parents too). hopefully he will be able to find a balance and get the most out of them. i felt this group as freshman was the best collection of talent i ever saw as freshman. now that they are juniors its time to grow up fast and play to their potential.
  4. the 16th annual Metro Jamboree at three sites this week. The two-quarter format starts Thursday at Glencliff beginning at 5 p.m. when it’s Overton vs. McGavock girls, followed by boys, then M.L.King vs. Maplewood girls/boys at 6:30, then Glencliff-USN girls/boys at 8. Friday at Nashville School of the Arts, it’s Stratford vs. Harpeth Hall at 5, followed by Stratford-NCS boys, then East Lit-Hunters Lane girls/boys at 6:30, followed by Hume-Fogg-Antioch girls/boys at 8. Saturday at Hillsboro, it’s Hillwood-Pearl-Cohn girls/boys at 6:30, then Hillsboro-Whites Creek girls/boys at 8
  5. What Maplewood doesn't understand is their lack of discipline has been the same all yr. They could mask it against inferior teams/talent or teams who are just as undisciplined as them(i.e. Stratford). This should be of no surprise to Maplewood. The officiating probably was substandard. Clarksville caught maplewood completely off guard by throwing the football. People tend to forget Clarksville in similar fashion nearly knocked of No. 2 seed Whites Creek last yr. It took an interception in the end zone to finally defeat Clarksville. They are no fluke. By the time maplewood adjusted, clarksville went back to its bread and butter the fullback dive. Maplewood was off balance by then(much like the Hillsboro game, remember the screen, see the pattern). the linebackers had to respect the tight end, which they obviously did not prepare for. Maplewood scored 24 pts............what happened to that stellar D? I've said over and over, refs don't win games. How a team adjusts to the officiating decides games. The game plan for maplewood became simple neutralize their linebackers(their best players on D) and you can score on them. In both losses thats what happened.
  6. Not much effort and research put into this post before you spoke, huh. Do your homework than speak................ Very ignorant post. Thanks Metroman and Big Country for enlightening this person. Another metro outsider with no facts.
  7. kudos to region 6-4a. i hope 5-4a doesn't come on here making excuses. 6-4a took care of business. i am a 5-4a fan. congrats again. 6-4a teams were better prepared, only hboro took care of business.
  8. Shelton Quarles LB Whites Creek HS(1986-1990) Vanderbilt(1990-1994) Tampa Bay Bucs(starting middle linebacker) Super Bowl Ring Brent Alexander DB Gallatin HS TSU Pittsburgh Steelers(among many teams)
  9. Wiggins without a doubt. Wattad will be transferring in a yr. He won't get on the floor at G'town.
  10. Jamie Graham P/PR/KR/QB/WR/CB(Ath), SR, Whites Creek, Vanderbilt Committment Terrance Holt RB/CB, SR, Maplewood Jacques Seward RB/CB JR, Hillsboro Cass Barnes QB/DB, SR, Tullahoma
  11. Ok, finally a Maplewood win over Hillsboro, lol. 56-0. wow. Well, I see a Whites Creek sweep, a double, two wins, call it what you want. Oh yeah Boski, I remember sitting in the cold watching the creek pound Maplewood. Stopping them with 4 downs from the one. I see Jamie Graham scoring 4 TD's this week. He'll be the Difference. He'll return a punt, kickoff, int, and catch a td. He might even rush for one, giving him 5. Maplewood has T. Holt, we have graham. Two great players. In the freshman game we'll run away from that man-child defensive end. and we'll plug the middle and stop that great fullback who didn't play in the regular season game. whoever thinks the talent pool is drying up at maplewood, is wrong. the future looks bright for maplewood.
  12. This rivalry dates back to when Whites Creek opened in 1979 and many kids from Maplewood were rezoned to Whites Creek. This will be a big time game no matter what the records are. Whites Creek is in a must win game, if they lose they have to depend on other scenarios to get into the playoffs. If they win they will be the number two seed in 5-4a. Also on Thursday the two schools will battle for the 9th grade city championship. Maplewood won it last yr. Whites Creek won the regular season game. Maplewood beat Hillsboro's freshmen last week 50-6. Whites Creek beat Antioch 14-6. The game is 5 pm at Maplewood. Now on to the Varsity, where is BOSKI?? Well I know who you are rooting for. Whites Creek will pull the upset. Maplewood doesn't matchup well against Whites Creek. Unfortunately WHites Creek's D can't stop Maplewood. We will try to out score Maplewood. Final Score WC 36 Maplewood 34. As athletic as maplewood is, I've noticed that teams with speed give maplewood trouble...........Hunters lane, Hillsboro, and Stratford.........Maplewood is probably the most physical football team in 4a. Very Physical. We have plenty of it with this yrs Region MVP Jamie Graham. Jamie should also get serious consideration for MR. FOOTBALL! He does everything for WC. Go Cobras!
  13. I'll rate the teams I am familiar with or have seen play over the summer. Whites Creek Antioch MLK Hillsboro David Lipscomb Ensworth Hunters Lane Maplewood Stratford McGavock East Literature Glencliff Hume Fogg Pearl-Cohn Overton Hillwood Don't know anything about Goodpasture, DCA, some of the other private schools
  14. Well the score was Tullahoma 21-20 at the half. WC wins 36-21 on two second half interceptions returned for TD's. Not to bad........................
  15. I was rooting for Maplewood. Hillsboro did what they had to do on that night. Some things I noted. Maplewood should've taken some more shots at #3 Gordon. He's good but he can be beat because he is aggressive and gambles. Maplewood may want to try a hurry up offense and call two plays at a time. It was pathetic watching the poor QB for maplewood come to the sideline wait for the play from the booth to the head coach to him and then have him relay it to the team. It seems like it was several delay of game penalties in a row. no excuse for that. On the game winning play, it was set up by the play before that. Maplewood got suckered into a pump fake. On the play before Hboro threw a screen, quick throw to #5 who was killin maplewood all day. next play it looked exactly the same only the qb pump faked to #5 and hit #12 in stride, great play calling. Maplewood take notes. you should be two plays ahead not one play behind, which was the case. for maplewood to blame the officials is insane. Hboro shouldn't complain either. OFFICIALS do not decide games the players do and how they adjust to the officiating. On the so called pass interference, the maplewood player turned to play the ball, the hillsboro player ran into the db. it was the right call. and he should've stuck him for that temper tantrum! Officials should not even be a part of the discussion. On the play when maplewood scored but it was called back. the WR shouldn't have even been over there, he should've ran a pass route, and then you don't have to depend on that block. on the spot, if you need one yard gain two, then you don't have to worry about the spot. congrats to Hboro. lastly whoever stated maplewood has to get by clarksville or springfield is not in touch with reality. look at last yrs playoff matchups and remember what happened. region 5-4a will sweep those teams again.
  16. Cody Hatcher is not eligible at Antioch. He is a Sr academically, but this is his 5th yr in HS. Taj is at Antioch and should be on the team. That should offset that loss some. Whites Creek will go as far as Jamie Graham and Monte Harper carry them. No height whatsoever. Look for Robert Ellison to have a breakout yr with more minutes. He will also free Jamie up to score more. The biggest loss is Wil Peters, an amazing competitor.
  17. Tullahoma threw one too many passes. WC returned two for TD's. WC 36 Tull 21. WC should make the playoffs.
  18. 12 - 6 Hboro No. 5 is really good for Hboro. Both teams will meet again in the playoffs.
  19. Whites Creek's homecoming was last week. This will be a close game. Whites Creek's D hasn't stopped anybody all yr. Should be a high scoring game. Whites Creek 41-Tullahoma 40 OT.
  20. I hope my cobras pull an upset. It is possible, but not probable. Hillsboro by 15 sounds about right.
  21. boy was i wrong! Maplewood Hillsboro Stratford Whites Creek Tullahoma Hickman Co. Lawrence Co. Shelbyville
  22. Stratford beat Whites Creek last Thursday 10-6.
