  1. Someone give this kid a shot at the next level, please! 322 yards (10 yds. per carry) is absolutely ridiculous. Best individual performance in TSSAA history. Congratulations to the Huntingdon Mustangs for proving the strength of AA football in West TN.
  2. Final Score: Hillsboro 27 Melrose 26. Congratulations to Hillsboro. I guess Melrose needs to add a kicker to their Division I prospect wish list next year.
  3. Last update was 28-24 DCA in the 4th quarter. This was not yet a final.
  4. Congratulations to Greenbrier on a win and congrats to P.A. Pratt and Crockett County on a great season. It's a shame that we couldn't have seen who the best team was with ALL of the personnel healthy. Williams had about a 65 yard scamper in the first half before having to be carried off the field. Good luck in the next round, Greenbrier. You'll need it against Covington.

    Melrose

Final Score: Melrose 28 JCM 0
  6. I'll have to disagree with the McKenzie comment. Despite their schedule, Wade Comer and the gang have advanced to the semi-finals the last two years, with that streak ending last Friday night. Name another AA team who has done that in the last three years.
  7. Mitchell is hosting Humboldt at Booker T. Washington tonight. Cold night and tough environment, so good luck to the Vikings.
  8. According to today's Jackson Sun, Greenfield mentor John Glisson has resigned as boys' basketball coach. After a runner-up finish in class A last year, girls' coach (and baseball coach) Willie Trevathan takes over on an interim basis. Any word on whether Coach Trevathan will finish the year? Here's a link to the story: http://miva.jacksonsun.com/miva/cgi-bin/mi...200311055533851
  9. Humboldt High School and Trenton Peabody High School are co-hosting a pool play tournament April 8, 9, and 10, 2004. There will be a 5-team pool at each site, guarantee of four games, with a possible six games for the semi-finals and consolation/championship games on Saturday. Contact Humboldt Coach Greg Scott at (731) 784-9514 at school or (731) 571-5672 or you can contact Peabody coach Steve Wilder at (731) 445-4896 or (731) 855-2062.
  10. Thanks for the recognition, Turkey. We leave on Thursday, July 24th for the Babe Ruth Southeast regional in Loudoun County, VA. Also a congratulations to Lewisburg on running a top-notch state tournament!
  11. Hey gomab, give us a quick run of the players who were still hanging around (you said you were down to five), and who helped had a good summer for you. I know you had some west TN talent to combine with your mid-state "balling". Thanks
  12. How did the first day of showcase from MTSU go today?

    Ripley Wins

If there's anything worse than someone talking trash before they actually do something, then its someone like our friend Charger here who still talks trash after he apparently didn't quite get as far as he would have liked. Don't take anything away from Ripley. Whether or not you think they are the best team in the state or not matters very little. Twenty years from now, can you say that you were the state champs? No, but they will be able to. We also beat Ripley in the regular season (won one and lost one in two games against them), but were proud to see them win it all. Allow me to reiterate my congratulations to Coach Bridges and the Tigers.
  14. No, I just tried to look it up on the TSSAA website, but, just like during the tournament, everything there is behind.

    Ripley Wins

First, Ripley is located north of Memphis up Hwy. 51 between Covington and Dyersburg. Second, congratulations to Coach Growe and South Side on a fantastic season. After losing to Chester Co. to ensure Chester the regular season title, they rattled off 12 straight victories until tonight. Third, congratulations to Coach Bridges and Ripley. You'll have to go a long way to find a better baseball man than he. Took Adamsville to the Class A state a few times in the early to mid 90s, now wins one with the Ripley Tigers.
  16. 1. Great job by the folks from Memphis. The tournament continued through and around the vast amounts of rain. 2. Congratulations to all of the West Tennessee teams who are doing well and vying for a state title: USJ, Ripley, South Side, and possibly Houston, Munford, and JCS. 3. I don't recall an example of griping by anyone from the Western part of the state anytime during the past several years about having to travel to Chattanooga. The honor of making it to Spring Fling seemed to drown that small detail out. When a team from West TN was put out, the statement about travel was seldom made. Don't take anything away from West Tennessee baseball, it's finally gaining on the great programs from the East and Mid-State areas. 4. Congrats to all who were fortunate enough to compete in Spring Fling, regardless of distance away and good luck to all of us who didn't next season!

  20. Any information on this matchup? It was postponed to Saturday at 3:00. Did they play?
  21. Class A - Jackson Christian vs. University School Jackson Class AA - Gibbs vs. Marshall Co. Class AAA - Farragut vs. Munford
  22. Russell started and went six innings for South Side. He allowed the first two hitters to reach in the seventh and was pulled in lieu of Ryan Coleraine. Again, congratulations to South Side in representing region six well. I guess whoever from this area continued to give out information did so in vain. Nice job Hawks.
  23. If it rains, will the tryouts be another weekend? bd4vols, are you guys taking anyone to Hickman Co?
  24. South Side 5 Fairview 2. Congratulations to Coach Growe and the Hawks.
  25. Marshall County 7 Milan 1. Please post details as they come in.
