mark byrd looked liked the harlem globetrotters. If he had the killer instint and more knowledge of the game of basketball this kid would be unmatched...Unaka has the hustle advantage, more consistent, play to win. Cloudland has superior athletes ,less consistent, play to not lose..Could go either way...Tolley could dominate,but he is too lazy...And just doesnt have the heart....go landers.

the only way eliz over the last 3 yrs would beat cloudland would to outscore them by passing.... As far as speed goes yes cloudland matches up well. Ask happy valley. By the way didnt happy valley beat eliz a couple of yrs. ago only to turn around a lose by 50 points to cloudland... Sounds like speed to me....Know what you are talking about friend....

cloudland is capable of winning but will have to play their best game....Cloudland girls are very deadly and have the advantage but they will have to play good ball...

all I can say is everyone better beware of cloudlands girls. they have got what it takes to beat anyone on any given night. They already have several 3a and a few 4a out of north carolina vitories under their belt. They are 17 and 1.

it wasnt even a contest. Cloudland girls are too talented for unaka.. With a little more teamwork cloudland girls could be state bound.

I would like to say congrats. coach. Even though you didnt make any layups or jumpshots, your passion and approach to the game makes those shots easier. A great coach and a great person. Again congrats. you deserve it. Thankyou for what you give to all those young men....

no matter who coaches at avery, they have to overcome the politics of avery county. I live in tenn. but used to work in avery county for a number of yrs. I know alot of people in avery and how things work....In my opinion avery could be one of the top football schools in the state of nc. (in its class), if the best kid got to play. Alot of talent and tough young kids get overlooked at avery because of the politics...Some of the toughest individuals I have ever came upon, but didnt even get a chance...Maybe The new coaches can have a better influence, but they have alot of fixing to do. well all I can say is that I have seen unaka and cloudland girls play and cloudland is by far the better team. The best team doesnt always win, but in this case I believe their is just too much talent for unaka to overcome. In fact with some better team play cloudland could very well be a state contender....

From what I have seen of maryville in the arbys classic, they have all the ingredients to go along way maybe even all the way with lee. Humphry is a pure shooter and a smart player that leads his team well..Wheeler was loaded to the max with athletes that can play ball...Looked like a recruited team to me, but I dont know much about them so I cant say for sure....

mark byrd is an incredible athlete and he does his talking on the feild. A message to all byrds supporters. Next yr. will be his senior season and lets face it he plays as good as he is odds are against him in many degrees. Height, and level of comp. are the biggest. But I believe he is good enough to help any division l school.Lets face it a lot of great player dont make it to that level. Exposure is the key. What I ask of supporters of mark byrd is next season get on the internet and contact every newspaper in tn. and download stats and comment on his games...Let the hole state know of his accomplishments not just east tn. The more the name gets out there the better chance he has. The internet is a powerful tool. Lets us it in his behalf. He is a great kid and a great athlete. He deserves everything he can get out of life...LETS SUPPORT THIS KID.....because he is that good and I want him to at least get the chance to prove himself....THANK YOU

iagree they should be able to fill their schedule from the local area but lets face it they are at a different level right now and need better comp. if they are to compete with the privates from middle tn. I dont think the teams mentioned from virgina will help much but it will be a different look. Cloudland needs to play teams such as science hill, elizabethon, and maybe even dobbyns bennet. I know they may not win but that is the level of comp. they need to comp. at the top level in single a. Sad but true. Boyd ezell cpa usj could probably all compete in our 5a division. That is how good 1a is out of middle tn. Cloudland has come a long way and the students and coaches learn something every year they play. Maybe someday. But not with the comp. they are playing....Its still great to see hampton and cloudland. Sorry that happy valley are such poor sports that was a good rivary too... Yes happy valley you got your field handed to you and could not handle the loss. Cloudland loss to you for yrs. and still played you. Get over it happy valley....

I would say by the end of season boyd had more talent across the field. Ezell followed a close second. Cpa had a good team but not the greatest talent. Sure they had better discipline and coaching but not talent... Cloudland had a little talent and a lot of hardnose kids. Usj did a great job with the talent they had. Maybe next yr. their talent will bloom.. Collinwood had some talent but had too many weak spots. YOU can take 11 well coached and disciplined kids and do what a team with 3 talented players cannot. Cpa proved that... But cpa has some great talent coming in the next two yrs. Cloudland will be good next yr. but probably have too many weak spots. Usj will be good maybe the best. Ezell lost too many key players look for cpa to rule the roost in region 5. South pitt. is young and cant be ruled out for next season.Boyd lost too many players to be as dominating next season. Greenback has the offense and the players coming back to be dangerous also. Next yr. should be interesting good luck to everyone. Remember hit the weights , run , and study because it will be here before you know it..

thank you maryville for bringing one to the east. Maybe cloudland can next yr. Hope to see you their next yr.

If the boys and coaches dedicate theirselves to learn to pass defend and the boys stay in the weight room, they will be state champions next yr. private or not....

a cloudland fan here, I would just like to say mr healy is a great athlete who won my support...Good luck in the future young man and i hope you handle yourself off the field as well as you do on the field...

cloudland like bruceton collinwood and others are public and have to abide by tssaa rules for playing only players from their district. Cloudland is a from carter county. This county has 2 single a's 2 double a's 1 4a city school. the population of the county is less than more. Yet cloudland cant have a player on their team that lives just 30 minutes down the road, or they will be breaking tssaa rules that would be enforced by tssaa...Cloudland, like most public teams most often will get a state contender maybe once every 20yrs.Some schools according to coaching maybe more chances. Yet you have some privates basically in it every yr. Maybe not the same private school but one out of the region every yr.Its just a juggling act of who gets the players down their....If privates would like to only play their students that come from their district then they wouldnt even have a team. So recruit or not it is still not a even playing field...If they do recruit in some way then shame on them because that is adding insult to the game... Not saying they do. Just remember all the kids in the great state of tn. that bust their butts in practice every day to strive to be the best in their division...You would not expect 1a to play 5a in the finals because it would not be an even playing field. Well it seems that is the argument at hand..Why doesnt privates just go up in division if they dont want to be in division 2....The answer is ???????????well guess they already tried that and brentwood just destroyed teams in the higher classifications too. so how does a single a public win this battle.. Lift more weights, hire better coaching, no the only way they will compete is if they cheat.... If you cheat to win did you really win........? please bring the pipes. That is my fondest memory at state last yr. when the bagpipes roared and the fans in tears cheered their defeated landers as if they were 40 points ahead. PLay with pride win or lose. Thats what cloudland football is all about....

i agree mr football did not get nominated but chattanoga will get to meet him friday night.

are the boyd players excited about playing at utc, or would they rather be playing at boyd...I dont think it mattered much to cloudland...I mean I think their excited about playing in the big stadium, but I dont think they cared the game got moved because of the muddy field.
