I agree they have had a good week of practice (from what I have seen). They are on their way back to clicking again.

Yes I understand they have actually I watched a couple of times last week (both in the rain) and once this week in nice weather. I usually don't watch practices much anymore but I am trying to see the fire they had at the beginning of the season. I really haven't see them at the level they were at. Hopefully they didn't peak against Jasper. I know what they are capable of but they are not playing to their potential.

The SP fans were quiet after halftime but until that point they tried to stay in the game. Some of the more true football fans from SP (like myself) thought it to be more comical as the game got worse. I know I was thinking SP is getting the wakeup call they need. The swelled head syndrome had them over the barrel so speak. The seating arrangement I did not like though I can understand if there were only seats on the home side. Finley seats 22,000 and all of the those empty seats behind the team did not help things. Trousdale/Monterey if I were you I would refuse to not sit behind my team if there are empty seats behind them.

They are predicting a lot of rain. Will this affect play? I know the pirates will be slower on a wet field.

SP is better than you think too. Guess that is why they play it on the field.

South Pittsburg represented the east and won it all in 1994 and DCA repesented the west in 2004 so wouldn't that make it 14-2.

Yes they are better than last year's team when they play like they did earlier in the season. I think the easy region schedule has hurt them. They played awful against Temple turning the ball over and all other things that went against them. Temple is good not 33 points better as a whole. They were on that night though. Their biggest problem has been suffering from swelled head syndrome.

How is the team preparing this week? They seem to not be the same as they were at the beginning of the season. Have they lost their focus? The first half against Silverdale they almost looked like the team from earlier in the season but the second half they looked like the team that played against Temple. Surely the team goal at the beginning of the season was a state championship not to beat an average to below average Jasper team and then fold. Just curious because I know what they are capable of and they haven't played to their capability since the Jasper game if not before that game. With all that being said I think SP will beat Whitwell. How bad? Depends on how SP plays.

In 1991 Whitwell had a very good team and South Pittsburg had a mediocre team at best. SP kept it close on a very COLD night in Whitwell. Whitwell won 21-8.

Let's see if I can make even clearer for you. #40 was playing linebacker at the time he is the starting punter but he is 2nd team linebacker. #83 was playing at the time and he is 2nd team DB. #42 was in there a few plays too and he is a 2nd team linebacker. Our line has been a little banged up and a few players had to step up more because of it and yes some of those are considered 2nd. The best you could say is that Silverdale scored against half the starters and half second teamers. Not to mention the drive for your first TD was penalty aided. Not complaining but that is what happened because penalties happen. Time to move on enough talk about Silverdale. Whitwell is the topic of conversation now.

Not hardly. There were few starters still in but there were plenty of 2nd teamers in there too. For instance the fullback who almost scored before SP starting taking a knee is 2nd string. There were some 2nd teamers who played the whole game because of injuries or sickness. #21 and #2 you could say have been 2nd teamers this year even though they see a lot of playing time.

South Pittsburg played pretty well. They seem to play more conservative maybe because a few players were a little banged up. The starting tightend didn't even dress and the second teamer played across from a very good defensive end and the defensive end won the battle all night. I was impressed with their linebackers they were pretty good too. There were still a few starters on defense still in the game when the seahawks scored. Their drive aided tremendously by penalties one being pass interference another a 15 yard face mask. That set up their first touchdown.

Looking ahead is what went wrong for SP last time. Yes Temple dominated but there is a possible next time. The best thing for each team to do is take one game at a time. Don't sell SP short they are better than what they showed last week. But that was last week. Silverdale is this week.

How bad was the field tore up lastnight? Will it affect play tonight? Way to go Jr. High Pirates on winning the championship.

I have a feeling that this thread is past history. I watched SP practice and they looked like a different team. They are appearing to be focused again. Only time will tell.

The only thing I seen wrong was the way SP played. They must have stayed at the movie or on the bus. I think it is time we move on and put this discussion behind us.

Unless he is playing South Pittsburg. He sure didn't gain much then.

I agree. But I think his future is on defense. Robert Robinson is not too bad himself even though in some offenses he would be a tailback or a halfback.

After the way they played last week they don't need to be ranked. That was what was wrong with them people telling them how great they were so they thought they could show up and win.

Hopefully they can stay focused. The game last Friday robbed them of a lot of respect. Now they have to earn it back. Too much talent to waste. They looked like a team with no talent last week. Youth really showed.

South Pittsburg should win this game. BUT they had better get busy realize their is still a lot of football left to be played.

Did you see what SP did to Bledsoe? Not a good comparison. Yes SP is more than capable. The thing is can they bounce back. Their swelled heads has got them in a bind I'm curious to see if they play through it. But they are talented enough and capable the focus and the desire has left. If they want to accomplish what they set out to do at the beginning of the season they had better turn it around this week. Coaching staff included.

I agree. That was a major problem last week for South Pittsburg. Coming off of the biggest win of the regular season against the biggest rival on their schedule. Then reading and thinking they were invincible. Yes SP is a great team this year a whole lot better than what showed up at the game last Friday. They defintely needed their BIG HEAD deflated and that is exactly what happened. They actually thought they could show up and win. I think they are a better team after the loss than they were before. The fans should be more humble now as well. May be now the Pirates will be more focused.
