Hey 82 Cat, This is what I think about what others have said... Luke Powell too small? Evidently he has the heart to play where he is at today. David Wolke no heart? Name another QB out of the state of Tennessee since the Notre Dame stadium opened in 1892 or so - that received a full paid ride, can you name one? I didn't think so! (and it definitely takes heart to get where he is going) Johnson evidently has something that UT wanted, he is fast and very good as a junior. By the way, where did you play college ball?

Hey throw46, Tom Lemming on ESPN.COM web site posted his top 25 QB recruit list in America. David Wolke is ranked # 11 in the nation. I know he wants to play at UT. David Wolke is the only QB out of TN listed in the top 25. I think the Smyrna vs. Shelbyville spring scrimmage is May 9th at 5:00 pm. I heard there are going to be 7 or 8 Div 1 scouts watching him at this game.

Does anyone know if that QB out of Knoville "Dickey" is being recruited & where he is going. I'm not sure which high school he goes too.

flip96 - Do you have to have a subcripton to the insider on ESPN's web site to view the QB class of 2004 list? MTSU's Coach Andy Mac met with Coach Shad at Smyrna & pretty much told him that he was going to offer David Wolke a scholarship early, even if he gets hurt his last year of high school he will still get a full ride. I think that is how it works with early signing's. David is also listed on UT's top ten recruit list on volquest.com. [Edited by touchdown on 4-18-03 9:11A]

You are so negative about most everything you post. Why don't you get a life and quit bashing Smyrna. Every team has athletes that give 100%. I think the Boro teams have a lot of talent. For you to be an adult and come on this board and act like you are 12 is crazy.

This web site is all about discussing the sport of football. I have truly enjoyed following a lot of these threads. You may voice your opinion about specific topics and then you should leave it alone. This thread started out to be one of those really good ones. I think you have it backwards. David Wolke is not good because all the plays are for him. Beacuse David Wolke can sling the ball and he is GOOD the offensive plays are designed for a GOOD QB that can actually throw the ball. Are there anymore good QB's that has a gun like Wolke in 4-5A?

Why are you not playing college ball? I am a Smyrna fan & I was just stating some facts about the BHS & Smyrna game last year. I was not crying, only losers cry. What makes you think your posts are going to make Smyrna Fans quit posting?

Hey Shady04, I hear also that BHS & Riverdale is hurting for a good QB. Spring games will tell who has really been working out. If you played for Smyrna in the past with these guy's and you know their abilities, you know they are capable of winning. Last year they had quite a few close games that could have went either way. Hopefully this year Smyrna O line will block so # 14 QB can really sling the ball.

Hey Dog7272, You are absolutely right about that BHS game, can't wait for Smyrna to play them this year. I know you very well, your Dad is a great person too. We will miss you at Smyrna this year.

Hey bhsol, You keep going on & on about Smyrna not ever beating Boro team. Think back to the game last year with BHS & Smyrna, you guy's won by the skin of your teeth, very close game. It could have went either way. Were you at the Smyrna -Oakland game? This was pretty much the same situation, Oakland barely won. I know for a fact Smyrna's QB #14 Wolke has been in the Gym & gained 20 lbs of muscle & David Shannon will be ready for you too.

You must be nominated to attend & yes there will be some big schools there. This combine is not just for anyone to attend. This combine is coordinated by the same peoplpe who organized the combine for the college players to possibly make the NFL a few of days ago. Letters were sent to the top 300 high school athletes in the state. Congrats to all! David Wolke is one of the top quarterbacks in the state. He is 6 ft. 4 in. 205 lbs. Started at the varsity level since he was a freshman. Has an estimated 4,500 yds. passing nnd 40 touchdown's. David runs a 4.6 forty, benches 300 and squats 400. He has a 3.5 GPA. David is being recruited be UT, Alabama, Auborne, MTSU, Memphis, Vandy, Michigan, Stanford, Duke and Georgia. He has many letters to several more. Does anybody know another QB that is being recruited that heavy?

I heard UT Coach Phil Fulmer called Smyrna High yesterday, he received QB #14 David Wolke's highlight video & is highly interested. He told the coach he recruits from the top QB's in the nation & will have recruits down to look at him at the spring game.

I think Wolke is one of the top athletes, He plays quarterback, 6 ft 3 1/2 in., 205 lbs, bench presses 300 squats 400, 4.6 in the forty, passed over 4,500 yds, with 40 touchdowns, had unofficial visits as a junior at UT, Vandy, Auburn, Alabama, and Ole Miss. I hear MTSU and Louisville is interested.

I think you need to check your source of information. I heard that David Wolke NEVER sit in on any coaches meetings and this came from David Wolke himself. Futhermore, it doesn't matter that Coach Wolke never played High School football he is very devoted to these players. When he coached at the middle school this year they won the State Championship & also he coached in 2001 and they won the State. Coach Wolke did play semi professional football many years ago with the Tennessee Stars.
