  1. There is more to the MVP than scoring average. Intangibles, defense, composure, free throws in clutch situations, leadeship and scoring - mostly in late game tight ball games. If it had to be someone from Franklin, it would come down to Batt and Glover in my opinion. Siske plays out of control, no doubt fun to watch and with intesity - but too often out of control. Love his intensity and he brings something to the party, but in the clutch I would want the ball in Glover or Batts hands.
  2. Great game by the teams last night. Loved the Franklin chant when Coach Henrie would cry after each call against his Eagles - "Get a Hanky" or something like that! Expected more from Luttrell with his size and ability to open himself up down low - if not for hands of stone the gaame could have been closer. IHS hung around most of the night but the 1st qtr 6 point lead grew to 10 at the half, stayed there through the 3rd qtr, and stretched to the 15 margin at the end. Franklin is finally learning how to play with a lead - don't get rattled when a team creaps back to 4 - just hit a couple shots - get a stop or two and it's back up to 10 in less than a minute. Key at the end was Free throws in the 4th - more importantly who for Franklin was at the line this time --- Glover and Batt. Great game, great atmosphere, so so officiating - but for the most part let they let the kids play. Thought they should have t'd up Luttrell after his outburst when fouling out . Tourney time looks like IHS and Centennial in a Semi Final - toss up game.
  3. It would be tough to put any ONE player from FHS as the MVP, mainly because the true strength of the team is the TEAM. Any given night a different player steps up, and no one is selfish or cares about individual accolades. No doubt Batt has been big for FHS, but if he is off the Rebels have other answers.
  4. Almost - Almost - Almost...... Like finishing second = 1st loser, almost being right is nothing more than BEING WRONG! As to the game, should be a great atmosphere between two quality teams and a group of kids who love their sport! I too could do without the IHS coach theatrics, but I'll try to focus on the positive - the players.
  5. Back to the game topic. I was impressed with CHS' run of wins based on CHS fans discussion threads......until I looked at who the wins were against. Record of the eight opponents listed by the tennessean (- covington no record shown) 48 - 80. And two of those beaten were AA schools. Not the toughest competion to be boasting about improved play. Could it be that the competition level is what has the Cougars looking better? Confidence for sure is up, and that will help - but is it false hope? Next couple weeks will tell all. Good luck to both teams.
  6. Both schools fans should be proud of their teams. Outstanding comeback for Indy. Franklin is probably back in the gym this morning shooting free throws! From my count, missed 11 in the 4th qtr alone. Enough complaining about the ref's - they were pathetic all night, both directions. Didn't affect the outcome. As to Luttrel fouling out - too bad, no doubt he could have made an impact. Sitting out more than he played no doubt hurt his team. Not the officials fault - in fact they let him get away with his fifth on a Franklin putback attempt on the trip down the court after his 4th was called. I do like the way he plays with his back to basket, if he contols the fouls he can dominate down low. Kuchar impressed me big time. Unfortunately for most of the game - he was all Indy had. As too the calling out a Franklin fan for discrediting a school, your house is not in order so be carefull. Ask a Cheerleader about her tumbling pass down to the Franklin Student section and her classy tuant to the fans. While were talking class - does the Indy Cocah honestly believe his team never fouls or turns the ball over? He whined and demonstrated after every call the officials made. Don't get me wrong - the ref's were horrible, but they couldn't be wrong all night, could they? Bottom line - great atmosphere and great game by the players. Shoud be fun at Indy, and I agree - theses two should see each other in the 11AAA tournament finals.
  7. Food for thought: Last 4 games - Franklin average winning margin 33 points, Indy 8 points. Both teams 4 and 0, common opponents in Columbia, Brentwood, and Hillsboro. Indy had Hillwood while Franklin had Overton. Season long common opponents - Both teams are 11 - 2, Franklin average margin of victory 23.1, Indy 10.9. If the fans show up, it should be a good atmosphere for what is shaping up to be a game to determine the top seed.
  8. Don't get me wrong CHS2007 - I fully understand the Centennial perspective on this game. It gets bigger and more intense for them every year they loose. I lived the frustration fo the first 6 years as my two older sons played for CHS. Next 3 years I had the advantage of sitting on the Franklin side with a son playing for FHS. Last 2 years years while my daughter attended FHS I continued to follow this rivalry closely and can definitely tell you from the FHS side - yea they don't want to be the first team to loose to CHS, but from a Football rivalry standpoint - it would without a doubt be Brentwood due to the 6 2002 through 2004 season clashes of regular season and playoff clashes. FHS - CHS rivalry in football is still waiting to develop from the FHS side. Win one and it would light a spark.
  9. Just because a game between 2 teams are within the same city limits - I don't consider it a rivvalry game until 1 of those 2 teams wins one of the games in the 10 years of the game. Franklin's rival is Brentwood based on their history. Eventually the FHS v CHS Battle of Franklin will become a rivarly - just not yet. Look at the local press coverage over the years - even they are tired of waiting for one to develop. Thought Franklin was trying to schedule a Kentucky based team, how did that fall through?
  10. No doubt the Franklin Student section is somewhat calm - compared to others I have seen, but let's get real - this game was over in the first few minutes. Franklin was too quick on D, and too deadly from 3. What was the student section going to do in a non rivalry game when it was over in a matter of minutes? They are better at rivalry games - Centennial, Brentwood, Ravenwood, but even at that seem somewhat cordial to our guests.
  11. Anyone know if Channel 3 taped this game and when it is going to be replayed. Seems like their might be some confusion on defense run by CHS and wether the turnovers were CHS poor execution or Pressure from FHS. My experience would tend to believe that pressure defense caused CHS issues, particularly if they had demonstrated better execution going into the game - which their record indicated.
  12. Thanks for the score and some of the key reasons for the lopsided result. Franklin's D seams to be as good if not better than last year - quick hands and cut off the passing lanes in a hurry. Same story when they played BGA and Hillsboro. It also sounds as if the outside shooting continues to be a threat for Franklin.
  13. Anyone back from the game yet? Scores?
  14. I thought this was to be a rebuilding year for Franklin with the losses of some really strng players from the last two years. I will be seeing them for the first time tonight. Those picking them to be fighting for the top spot - is that based on knowledge of this years team or reputation from last two years? I honestly have no knowledge of the talent of this years team. Looking for insight, not guesses or trash talking.
  15. Back to '07 predictions. As to all the experience returning for CHS, that experience is overwhelmed in loosing. Who ever the new coach is, the first task he will need to adress is the implementing the attitude of a winner. Getting a team to BELIEVE they enter each and every game with an expectation to win. Not simply talk about it - but BELIEVE it. As to everyone else, it comes down to working in the off-season and to paraphrase Fromthetop - who can keep the outside interests and influences to a minimum!
  16. Weren't people saying the same thing about Patrick Turner? He seems to be doing just fine at USC! Good Luck Golden, another strong athlete coming out of Tennessee High School Football (regardless of school size)
  17. Take nothing away from Hendrsonvilles win over Franklin, but it was as much Franklins mistakes (fumbles and penalties) that cost them as much as H'villes defense. I know - you make your own breaks, and h'ville get's cudo's for the strip of the ball on the first play from scrimmage after a 75 yard scamper, but the 3 turnovers ater that were poorly executed handoff's and lack of protecting the ball. But as I said in the H'ville Franklin thread - Congrats to Hendersonville on a well executed game plan, and playing with controlled emotion. If they execute as well Friday, I see Hendesonville in the Qtr's. As to CHS2007 laughing as you go by Franklin High - keep on chuckling until you loose again to Franklin and keep the winless streak alive!
  18. Been out since the game, so I am late with my Congratulations to Hendersonville. Hendersonville did exactly what teams need to do in the playoff's, solid mistake free football - and intensity raised to another level. Franklin lacked both. Four turnovers at this time of year will almost always determine the outcome. Lack of controlled intensity will also spell disasiter in the playoffs. It seemed as though the sidelines were lacking a sense of urgency or spark to carry this team to the next level. Best of luck to the Seniors from both teams, and to the underclassmen - learn from this and build on it.
  19. if Hendersonville attempts a 2 point conversion in OT, look for history to repeat itself as Franklin's D will come up big! (reference 2003 Qtr final Frankin 24 Hendersonville 23)
  20. I see Franklin over Hville, only due to my confidence in the Defense and what they've done all year. After seeing Dickson County - I like their size, their discipline, their defense and their ability to throw the ball to keep defenses honest. My pick - Dickson Co (once again Antioch get's a tough draw) My knowledge of Brentwood comes primarily from week 5 live, and the rest from channel 9. They have improved since week 5 and they have Crawford - but are still considered young. Hunters Lane from what I have read and heard has quicks but can they sustain the discipline and minimize mistakes. To me this is a Pick-em game. I think Gallatin is the team to beat of all eight teams in this bracket. Can Ravenwood do it - sure, but Gallatin has alot going for them, and it's a tough place to play for visitors. My Pick - Gallatin. Round two - let's get through this week first!
  21. Shadow Let's not forget the Franklin playoff game a few years ago at Hunters Lane when Franklin came back to win in the second half. It was wet, cold and muddy!
  22. Rebelguy knows of what he speaks. He as a previous player of the man has better insight to what drives the man. I agree that the BGA job has the ingredients he was looking for: time to devote to game and practice preparation, strong support from the administration and support groups, and in Williamson County. One area that may be frustrating for him is the numbers that he has to work with. I don't think he will shy away from that aspect, due to his ability to grow the numbers at Franklin during his 3 years at the helm. Rebelguy - game this weekend? If so, good luck!
  23. Could Coach Johnson, Coach Nowell, and Coach Webb reunite at CHS and due to that program what they did at FHS?
  24. Might be tougher than the fan's think it will be, but talking to a few players indicates they are taking this very seriously. No one inside the locker room is expecting anything but a hard nosed tough in the trenches snoberknocker. It's playoff time - win or be done. (unless you don't want to be done and you schedule a "bowl game")
