Yes I would have to agree with P9Morbid. I have played football my whole life and that include college football. Right now I see Dustin Lindsey as a good prospect but definately not a blue chip. He will play Linebacker if he goes to UT. To start at Runningback in the SEC you have to be big and fast. I just dont think he is fast enough. Lets just look at the past Tennessee Runningbacks, Cedric Houston, Travis Henry, Travis Stephens, Jamal Lewis. If you honestly think Dustin could have started over one of these you might need to rethink your evaluating process. All of those guys were at least in the Top 15-25 Runningbacks in the Nation coming out of high school and I dont think Dustin is rated in the Top 50. Anyways I do think Brandon Warren is legit and will eventaully play where he goes if he does work hard. In my opinion he is just as fast as Dustin but bigger. Yes Blount County football is good and Blount County players are good but people you must understand that these players are big fish in a small pond.(Tennessee) When I played college football my eyes were opened to how good the football is in other states and how good their players are. Lets just talk about the Southeast of the U.S. I would rank Tennessee on the bottom half of the Southeastern states as far as D-1 recruits and quality of teams. Im just challenging you guys to look outside of the Blount County bubble and for that matter the Tennessee bubble that we live in.

Yes, I have also heard that coach Meadows has applied at WB. If they want to go deep into the playoffs quickly coach Meadows is the choice. He has an expertise in the Wing-T offense and WB has three stud running backs coming back that are just gonna be juniors.WHEY!Look out for WB next year if this goes through.

Thank goodness something is finally done to get the programs in the right direction, it was way overdue. If the two county programs get two good coaches and the coaching staff stays together for a while watch out Maryville, your toughest competition might come from inside your own county.

Yes, I have also heard some pretty impressive names also inquiring about the WB job. I have also heard that a Maryville assistant coach has applied at Heritage.

The parents need to bang together and do something. Demand higher pay for the county head coaches so they can start a tradition. The sad thing about it is I do not think enough parents care enough to do something so drastic.

This is unbelievable. William Blount has huge potential, but they cant keep a coach. Good coaches in the past have passed up this job for greener grass somewhere else. Maybe the blount county school board needs to take notice and try to give the county kids the same consistency and care that maryville city has had for so many years. But nuttin will ever be done probably to pay the coaches more and try to keep good coaches there. There are also rumors now of players being frustrated and wanting to transfer. If Willy B can get a steady coach that will stay there for years they can build a tradition, but not like this.

The word is now just of today that the job was offered to Hardagree from Jackson but he has not called back at all. So they are gonna offer it to the next guy. It wil be between Phelphs, Satterfield, and Coach Reeves. Personally I hope they stay in house on that.

I heard Hardagree from Jackson Central Merry has it if he wants it still. The only that would stop him is probably the pay cut. Hopefully he will look past THE LOW PAY THAT WB PAYS THEIR COACHES and still come because he would be a good one. WB already had a coach leave cause of money and support , hopefully they can get one that will look past that.

Yes the first and second string qbs did quit......... for a day. They practiced today and said they made a mistake. They are back so its all good.

What about Josh Lawhon's little brother? Plays for Maryville now. Carl Stewart lived in the Heritage district.

I know for a fact that the Jackson Central-Merry coach put in an application. They went 10-0 last year in 5A during the regular season before making an exit in the playoffs. This might be a good pick for the job.

JPats5 I am pretty sure the Freshman class is still intact from WB. At least all the core guys. They should be tough this year if they work.

I truly think William Blount is a sleeping giant. I think WB can bust through and be a dominant team year in a year out, but one huge problem that I noticed when I went there was the talent that wasn't playing football. Even when Coach Reid and Coach Mac encouraged kids to come out there were still many that could have been awesome that never decided to come out. Some of the kids that don't play have a bad family situation in which they would HAVE to work instead of playing football. I noticed that when I played. That is why I think there is a difference between WB and Maryville. Alot of kids at WB come from a different home life and aren't encouraged AS MUCH to participate in athletics. I would know I went to Maryville Middle and then played at WB and I've spent time with both kids.

I am sure whoever gets the job at WB will be well qualified.

I agree totally with BillBlunt. There needs to come a town when the school board stops looking at themselves and look to the students needs. There is no reason that William Blount and Heritage does not have a state championship team in any sport. Its time for the board to start paying the coaches more like Maryville and Alcoa does. They take their academics and athletics seriously and look what happens. I am not saying William Blount and Heritage do not because they do but they just can not keep the good coaches there for long. Coach McMahan left Heritage along time ago for lack of support. Coach Reid left William Blount this year for higher pay, booster club problems, and lack of support. There is no reason William Blount and Heritage should take backseats to Oak Ridge, Dobyns-Bennett, Farragut, or anybody for that matter. If the board would step up and get serious about athletics Blount County, which is already one of the best counties in the state athletically, could be the best.

I guarantee that coach Reid will take Alcoa to at least a region championship if not state championship in the next three years. He is that good of a coach.

How can you say his parents thought they made a mistake of sending their boy to WB instead of Maryville. The goal for any high school athlete is to get a college scholarship and the older brother did just that. He got the scholarship through the help of Coach Reid. Coach Reid has many connections in Indiana and getting two of his linebackers to get scholarships and Indiana State is huge. I also played with the older brother and coach Reid also got me a scholarship to a school in Indiana in which I started there last year. He is an amazing football coach. He will be missed.

I am a former player at WB. I played with Reese and under coach Fickert and McMahan. William Blount continues to have problems with money just like when I was there. This year a players parent was righting checks to herself and it was found out. Another point about the pressures that coach Reid has is unbelievable. Some of the parents and fans at WB kill me. I went back and watched Reese play against Oak Ridge his senior year. When they started losing some of the parents in the crowd started yelling to put in someone else. I couldnt believe it here is one of the best players to ever walk through WB and there yelling to get him out of there and put someone else in. Shows you how ignorant they really are. Then I went to watch one game this year in which WB won. As I sat in the stands I counld not help to hear the fans or parents critisize every play call , EVEN WHEN THEY WERE WINNING. I finally told one of them to shutup and let the coaches coach. Anybody can be an armchair quarterback. Coach Reid is one of the smartest coaches I have ever been around and I play college football right now. Some of the parents will never like him at WB just because they think they could do the job better or there kid does not play as much as they should. It's a team game people wake up and quit thinking that your kid is some kind of D-1 prospect that is waiting to be discovered. I promise this that under Reid the best players play the position.

you also have to remember that maryville played with a sophomore quarterback. the starting one was injured at the first of the year.

Im pretty sure it wasnt a tie. Was it not 7-0 and William Blount turned the ball over at the 1 yard line too. So it could have been worse. Get the scores right.
